Laurel, MD light heavyweight Thomas "Top Dog" Williams, Jr. was outgunned in his bid for the WBC Light Heavyweight championship tonight as Adonis "Superman" Stevenson of Quebec, Canada scored a fourth-round knockout at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City. The bout was shown on Spike TV.
Stevenson dropped Williams with an overhand left in the first round. However, Williams showed a lot of heart and landed hard shots in the second and third round. Stevenson did wobble a little bit but did not go down.
In the fourth round, Stevenson landed a crushing left uppercut that dropped Williams face first to the canvas. Referee Michael Griffin reached the count of 10 and the bout ended at 2:54.
Williams drops to 20-2, 14 KO's. Stevenson made the eighth successful defense of his title and raised his record to 28-1, 23 KO's.
