March Schedule Features Action At Beltway Casinos!

The March Beltway Boxing Schedule features two cards that will be held at two Maryland casinos plus the semifinals of the Washington Golden Gloves.  There will also be good opportunities for locals on the road.  Here is the March schedule:

Saturday, March 2nd -- Voinovich Center, Columbus, OH -- Baltimore, MD lightweight Jahmal Dyer returns to action in a six-round contest against undefeated Carlos Dixon of Louisville, KY.  Dyer (8-1, five KO's) comes off a six-round unanimous decision win over Darel Harris on February 9th in Norfolk, VA.  Dixon (7-0, five KO's) knocked out Mark Szoros in the first round on January 12th in Louisville.

Saturday, March 2nd -- Priory Grand Hall, Pittsburgh, PA -- Washington, DC super bantamweight Daron "Sweet Tay" Williams will battle Oleg Dovhun of Pittsburgh by way of the Ukraine in an eight-round contest for the vacant American Boxing Federation USA Super Bantamweight title.  Williams (7-0, four KO's) scored a fourth-round TKO over Marco Antonio Mendoza Chico on June 30th in DC.  Dovhun (7-0, two KO's) comes off a four-round unanimous decision over Darel Harris on October 20th at the Priory Grand Hall.  This will be Dovhun's fourth straight appearance at this venue.

Friday, March 8th -- Live! Casino, Hanover, MD -- This is the first of two cards held at local casinos.  The Jeter Promotions card was previewed earlier but there are a couple of changes.  Baltimore super middleweight "Dangerous" Donald Wallace (3-1-1, two KO's) will now take on Pablo Velez of Durham, NC in a six-round bout.  Velez (7-3-1, five KO's) will look to break a three-bout losing streak which includes a first-round knockout loss to Mike Snider on August 25th in Wheeling, WVA.  Also, Newport News, VA heavyweight Jerry "Slug" Forrest will be in action against Grover Young of Memphis, TN.  This will be an eight-round contest.  Forrest (23-2, 19 KO's) is coming off a first-round TKO over Jaudiel Zepeda on February 9th in Norfolk. Young (13-25-3, nine KO's) broke an eight-bout losing streak with a fourth-round TKO over previously undefeated Javonta Charles on July 21st in Memphis, TN.  Young's last two losses in his streak both came against Forrest -- a six-round unanimous decision loss to Forrest in June of 2017 in Baltimore and a first-round disqualification in Norfolk in August of 2017.

Friday, March 8th -- Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, England -- Baltimore light heavyweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves (17-3-2, seven KO's) challenges undefeated Anthony Yarde (17-0, 16 KO's) for Yarde's WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight title.

Saturday, March 9th -- Rosecroft Raceway, Fort Washington, MD --  The first night of semifinal action at the Washington Golden Gloves.

Friday, March 15th -- Liacouras Center, Philadelphia, PA -- Undefeated Temple Hills, MD super middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard (19-0, 12 KO's) is slated to be on this card against an opponent to be determined.  Ballard last fought on November 8th and won an eight-round unanimous decision over Alan Campa in Indio, CA.

Friday, March 22nd -- Michael's Eighth Avenue, Glen Burnie, MD -- Baltimore Boxing Promotions has an amateur boxing card honoring the memory of legendary Ballroom Boxing promoter Scott Wagner.

Saturday, March 23rd -- Rosecroft Raceway, Fort Washington, MD -- The second night of semifinals at the Washington Golden Gloves.

Sunday, March 24th -- MGM National Harbor Casino, Oxon Hill, MD -- The Peterson Brothers headline a nationally-televised (FS1) card.  No additional bouts have been announced.

Friday, March 29th -- SugarHouse Casino, Philadelphia, PA -- Owings Mills, MD heavyweight Colby Madison will be in a six-round contest against Eduardo "Sorok" Vitela of Durango, Mexico.  Madison (7-0-2, four KO's) comes off a six-round unanimous decision over Nicoy Clarke on September 25th in Bethlehem, PA.  Vitela (3-3, two KO's) was knocked out in the first round by Bakhodir Jalolov on September 29th in Brooklyn, NY.

Saturday, March 30th -- PAL Center, Hockessin, DE -- Baltimore super welterweight Kevin "The Scarecrow" Womack, Jr. will be a bout against Ismael Garcia of Vineland, NJ.  No word yet on how many rounds the bout is scheduled for.  Womack (8-17-4, six KO's) looks to bounce back from a fourth-round TKO loss to Zarifbek Nishanbaev on August 18th in Hanover, MD.  Garcia (10-0-1, four KO's) last competed in October of 2016 and battled Tyrone Brunson to an eight-round draw in Philadelphia, PA.

Hawkins, Wade Get Saturday Victories!

Two Beltway Boxers scored victories in two locations on Saturday.

Undefeated Baltimore, MD welterweight Malik "Iceman" Hawkins won an eight-round unanimous decision over Gledwin "Chico" Ortiz of The Bronx, NY at the Met Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA.

According to Juan Marshall of ProAm Fight Talk, the bout was an action packed fight from start to finish as Ortiz came out in the opening round to land good shots on Hawkins. Hawkins stepped up his offense quickly to come back and land some good body and head shots on Ortiz. Both fighters were counting off of each other throughout the first six rounds. Hawkins seemed to pull away in the final two rounds by being the more active fighter, and closing the rounds strong. All three judges scored the contest for Hawkins, 77-75, 78-74, and 79-73. 

Hawkins is now 14-0, nine KO's while Ortiz falls to 6-3, five KO's.

At the Center Stage@NoDa in Charlotte, NC, Largo, MD light heavyweight Dominic "Lights Out" Wade scored a fifth-round TKO over veteran Josue Obando of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.  No word on the time of the knockout.  Wade wins his second bout this month and is now 20-1, 14 KO's.  Obando falls to 16-26-1, 12 KO's.

Hawkins Weighs 144.6 For Eight-Rounder In Philadelphia!

Malik Hawkins weighed in at 144.6 pounds for his eight-round bout against Gledwin Ortiz on Saturday at the Met Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA.  Ortiz came in at 146.3 pounds.

Reeves WBO Inter-Continental Title Bout Rescheduled For March 8th!

Baltimore, MD light heavyweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves will have a little more time to prepare for his WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight title opportunity in England.  The card, which was originally scheduled for February 23rd, will now be on Saturday, March 8th.  The card will also be in a new location -- the legendary Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, England.

Reeves will challenge the champion, undefeated Anthony Yarde of Ilford, Essex, England in this bout.  Reeves (17-3-2, seven KO's) is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision win over Lanell Bellows on January 17th in Las Vegas, NV.  Reeves is a former USBO Light Heavyweight and Maryland State Cruiserweight champion who also challenged for the IBO World Light Heavyweight championship.

Yarde (17-0, 16 KO's) will be making the fifth defense of his WBO Inter-Continental championship that he won in September of 2017.  Yarde last fought on October 20th and scored a fourth-round TKO over Walter Gabriel Sequeira in Brentwood, England.  Yarde is also the WBO European titleholder.

Isley Wins Bronze In Bulgaria!

Alexandria, VA middleweight Troy Isley has captured a bronze medal at the Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Isley lost a 4-1 decision to Serhat Guler of Turkey in yesterday's semi final bout.  This is the second time Isley has medaled at this event, he won a silver medal in 2018.

Outlaw Signs With Kings Promotions; Will Compete on March 8th Hanover Card!

Undefeated Bowie, MD super lightweight Greg "Sharpshooter" Outlaw has signed a promotional deal with Kings Promotions of Reading, PA.

Outlaw (7-0, two KO's), one of our Beltway Boxing Prospects Of The Year for 2018, was previously promoted by Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Promotions.  However, Outlaw was released from that contract when that promotional company ceased operations.  In his last outing, Outlaw won a six-round unanimous decision over Mack Allison IV on December 8th at the AC Jordan Arena at Bowie State University in Bowie, MD.

Outlaw will soon have his first bout under the Kings Promotions banner because has been added to the Jeter Promotions card on Friday, March 8th at Live! Casino in Hanover, MD.  Outlaw is scheduled to take on Tyrone Crawley, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA (7-1-1) in a six-round encounter.  Crawley is coming off an eight-round majority draw with Ricardo Garcia on August 10th in Philadelphia, PA.

Isley Advances To Strandja Semifinals; Moore Falls By Unanimous Decision!

Alexandria, VA middleweight Troy Isley has advanced to the semifinals of the Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria.  Isley defeated Kristiyan Nikolov of Bulgaria by a 5-0 decision.  This means Isley has won at least a bronze medal in this tournament.  In 2018, Isley captured a silver medal.

Isley's gymmate, Amelia Moore, lost her quarterfinal 132-pound bout by a 5-0 decision to Neeraj of India.

Harrison Bout Canceled In West Virginia; Balogun Scores Knockout; Dozier Gets Draw!

A number of local boxers appeared on a card at the Mountaineer Casino Ballroom in New Cumberland, WVA on Saturday.

One boxer who was scheduled to appear on this card but did not was Washington, DC's Dusty Hernandez Harrison who had a number of opponents fall out on him during the days leading up to the bouts.  Harrison (30-0-1, 16 KO's) is still looking to compete for the first time since September of 2016.

Two Beltway Boxers did compete on the card.  Upper Marlboro, MD heavyweight Mike "Silverback" Balogun scored a first-round knockout over Cory "The Cobra" Phelps of Catlettsburg, KY.  No word on the time of the knockout.  Balogun remains undefeated at 12-0, nine KO's. while Phelps falls to 16-12-1, eight KO's.

Also on the card, Suitland, MD super welterweight Lenwood "Mr. Composure" Dozier battled Daniel "Feel Good Hollywood" Rosenberger of Youngstown, OH to a four-round draw.  All three judges were in agreement and scored the bout 38-38.  Dozier's record is now 10-21-3, five KO's.  Rosenberger is now 4-6-4, one KO.

Moore, Isley Gain Victories At Strandja Tournament!

Amelia Moore and Troy Isley advanced to the next round of the Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria on Friday.

Moore won her second bout of the tournament with a 4-1 decision over Rebecca Nicole of Italy at 132 pounds.  Isley, a middleweight, won a 5-0 decision over Tarik Allali of Morocco.

The third member of the Alexandria, VA contingent, Keyshawn Davis, who won a gold medal last year at this tournament, lost his first-round contest to Elvin Isayev of Azerbaijan by a 4-1 score.

Hernandez Harrison Weighs 160 For Eight-Rounder In West Virginia!

Dusty Hernandez Harrison weighed in at the middleweight limit at 160 pounds for his eight-round contest against Ulises Jimenez Saturday at the Mountaineer Casino in New Cumberland, WVA.  Jimenez came in heavy at 164 pounds.

Fox Loses Unanimous Decision In Kansas!

Forestville, MD super lightweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox lost a 10-round unanimous decision to the undefeated "Descendant of Tamerlane" Shohjahon Ergashev of Detroit, MI by way of Uzbekistan Friday evening at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, KS.  The bout was the main event of a ShoBox telecast on Showtime.

Neither boxer landed a lot of punches and Fox did well defensively throughout the bout.  However, Fox's inability to land more solid punches than his opponent proved to be his undoing.  Fox lost by scores of 96-94 and 98-92 twice.  Fox loses for the first time as a pro and falls to 19-1, five KO's.  Ergashev is now 16-0, 14 KO's.

Hernandez Harrison Returns In Eight-Round West Virginia Contest!

Washington DC boxer Dusty Hernandez Harrison will return to action on Saturday, February 16th at the Mountaineer Casino Ballroom in New Cumberland, WVA.

Now competing as a middleweight, the undefeated Hernandez Harrison (30-0-1, 16 KO's) will take on veteran Ulises "El Cerillo" Jimenez of Xochimilco, Distrito Federal, Mexico in an eight-round contest.  Hernandez Harrison has not fought since winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Thomas La Manna in Philadelphia, PA in September of 2016.

Jack Johnson Exhibit Comes To Washington This Weekend!

February being Black History Month -- There is a very important exhibit that comes to the Washington area this weekend that pays tribute to the first African-American Heavyweight champion, Jack Johnson.

"The Galveston Giant" was champion from 1908-1915 and his bout against Jim Jeffries on July 4, 1910 was dubbed "The Fight Of The Century."

The Jack Johnson Exhibit Tour will be in three locations over the weekend.  On Friday, the exhibit will be at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, located at 908 Whyte Street in Alexandria, VA and will open at 5 PM.

The exhibit will move into DC and stop at the Ridge Road Community Center at 830 Ridge Road in Southeast on Saturday, February 16 at noon.  Then, the exhibit moves to the SE Dream Center at 2826 Q Street, SE at 4 PM.

Moore Wins Debut Bout At Strandja Tournament In Bulgaria!

Alexandria, VA's Amelia Moore won her first contest at the Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria on Thursday.  Moore won a 5-0 decision over Crisstina Cosma of Romania.  Moore returns to action on Friday in a bout against Rebecca Nicole of Italy.

Moore's Alexandria teammates Keyshawn Davis and Troy Isley make their second trip to the Strandja Tournament and will participate for the first time on Friday.  Davis, who will compete at 141 pounds and who won a gold medal at this tourney in 2018, will face off with Elvin Isayev of Azerbaijan.  Middleweight Isley, who took a silver home from Bulgaria last year, will take on Tarik Allali of Morocco.

The three Alexandria boxers are part of a 25-member United States team, one of the largest delegations the US has sent to an international competition.  All of the bouts are being live streamed on usaboxing.org.

Fox Weighs 142 For 10-Round ShoBox Main Event In Kansas!

Mykal Fox and Shohjahon Ergashev both weighed 142 pounds for their 10-round ShoBox main event bout Friday night at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, KS.

Dyer Wins Unanimous Decision, White Drops Unanimous Decision in Norfolk!

Two Beltway Boxers competed on a PonyTail Promotions/Rising Star Promotions card on Saturday at the Masonic Temple in Norfolk, VA.

Baltimore, MD lightweight Jahmal Dyer won a six-round unanimous decision over Darel Harris of Sarasota, FL.  Dyer got the victory by scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 60-56 to raise his record to 8-1, five KO's while Harris falls to 1-10-1, one KO and loses to a Beltway Boxer for the second straight outing.  Harris dropped a four-round unanimous decision to Mack Allison IV on January 26th in Waldorf, MD.

Also on the card, Washington, DC welterweight Lamont White lost a four-round unanimous decision to Nahir Albright of Sicklerville, NJ.  Albright did something that not too many people have done -- he knocked White down in the first round.  White was able to stay in the bout to keep his never-being-knocked-out streak alive but he lost the bout by shutout, 40-35.  White drops to 1-17, one KO while Albright is now 5-1, one KO.

After his contest, Albright sang the national anthem prior to the main event.

Winslow III Scores Third-Round Knockout In North Carolina!

Odenton, MD super welterweight Maurice Winslow, III scored a third-round knockout over David Ricardo Perez of San Antonio, TX on February 8th at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC.

Winslow is now 2-0, two KO's. Perez falls to 1-16-1.

Davis Successfully Defends WBA Title With Crushing First-Round KO!

WBA Super Featherweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis put on a solid performance Saturday evening with a dominant first-round knockout over late sub Hugo "Cuatito" Perez of Mexico in front of a sold-out crowd at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA and a nationally-televised Showtime audience.

Davis walked to the ring for the main event accompanied by dancers who performed to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."  Once the bout started, Davis immediately went to work landing hard shots to Ruiz's body and forcing him into the corner.  Late in the first, Davis landed a wicked right hook that stunned Ruiz and dropped him to one knee.  Ruiz got up but was not in any shape to continue.  Referee Jack Reiss stopped the contest at 2:59 of the first.

Davis is now 21-0 with 20 knockouts and has stopped his last 12 opponents.  Eight of Davis's 20 KO's have come in the first round.  Ruiz falls to 39-5, 33 KO's.

Simpson Scores First-Round KO In Carson, CA!

Baltimore, MD middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson scored a first-round knockout over Derion Chapman of Los Angeles, CA Saturday at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA. 

Simpson knocked down Chapman midway through the first round and Chapman could not fully recover from the blow and referee Sharon Sands had no choice but to stop the contest.  The time of the knockout was 1:59.  Simpson is now 2-0, two KO's while Chapman drops to 3-3-1, two KO's.

Davis, Simpson Hit Scales In Carson, CA!

Gervonta Davis and Lorenzo Simpson weighed in for their Saturday bouts at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA.

Davis had a difficult time making weight again but on the third try, he weighed in at 129.8 pounds for his WBA Super Featherweight title defense against Hugo Ruiz in the main event.  Ruiz came in at 129.4 pounds.

Simpson came in at 165.4 pounds for his four-round encounter with Darian Chapman, who tipped the scales at 168.4 pounds.

The Davis-Ruiz bout will be the main event on the Showtime Championship Boxing telecast that will get underway at 10 PM ET.

Peterson Brothers Return For Nationally-Televised Bouts March 24th At MGM National Harbor Casino!

Washington, DC's legendary Peterson Brothers make their long-awaited return to boxing in a nationally-televised doubleheader on Sunday, March 24th at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD. The two feature bouts will be televised by FS1.

Two-division world champion Lamont Peterson will be in a 12-round welterweight contest against former world champion Sergey "Samurai" Lipinets of Beverly Hills, CA by way of Martuz, Kazakhstan in the main event.  Peterson (35-4-1, 17 KO's) returns to action for the first time since losing by seventh-round stoppage to Errol Spence for the IBF Welterweight title on January 20th, 2018 in Brooklyn, NY.  Peterson has won three world titles in his career, capturing the IBF and WBA Super Lightweight championships with a 12-round split decision win over Amir Khan in December of 2011 in DC.  Peterson would win the WBA Welterweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over David Avanesyan in February of 2017 in Cincinnati, OH but gave up the title to face Spence.

Lipinets (14-1, 10 KO's) is a former IBF Super Lightweight champion who won the title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Akihiro Kondo in November of 2017 in Brooklyn, NY.  Lipinets lost the title to Mikey Garcia by unanimous decision in March of 2018 in San Antonio, TX.  Lipinets would bounce back to win a 10-round majority decision over Erick Bone on August 4th in Uniondale, NY.

Anthony Peterson (37-1, 24 KO's) will battle former IBF Super Featherweight champion Argenis Mendez of Brooklyn, NY by way of the Dominican Republic in a 10-round encounter.  Peterson has won seven straight contests since his only loss to Brandon Rios in September of 2010.  However, Peterson's wins have come over a seven-year period in which he did not compete in 2012 and 2017.  Peterson last fought on the same January card as his brother and won a 10-round unanimous decision over Luis Eduard Florez in Brooklyn.

Mendez (25-5-1, 12 KO's) is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision over Eddie Ramirez on May 26th in Biloxi, MS.  Mendez won his IBF title in March of 2013 with a fourth-round knockout of Juan Carlos Salgado in Costa Mesa, CA.  Mendez would lose his title to Rances Barthelemy in July of 2014 by unanimous decision.

Peterson and Mendez actually fought on the same card at the DC Armory in Washington, DC in April of 2016.  Peterson would win a 10-round unanimous decision over Samuel Neequaye while Mendez would lose to Robert Easter, Jr. by fifth-round TKO.  The card was headlined by Adrien Broner's 9th round TKO of Ashley Theophane.

March is Casino Month in Beltway Boxing.  This will be the second card held in a casino in the month.  The Jeter Promotions card will be on Friday, March 8th at Live! Casino in Hanover, MD.

Maryland State Title Bout Headlines March 8th Card At Live Casino!

The next pro card in the Beltway will be on Friday, March 8th at Live! Casino in Hanover, MD and it looks like an interesting card that is scheduled to feature a number of all-Beltway encounters.  This will be a Jeter Promotions card, the second at Live! Casino.  The first card, held on August 18th, was chosen the Beltway Boxing Card Of The Year.

The main event on this card will be a matchup for the vacant Maryland State Super Middleweight championship as Demond "D'Best At It" Nicholson of Laurel battles Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow of Baltimore.  Nicholson (20-3-1, 19 KO's) is the reigning WBC USNBC Super Middleweight champion who won that title on the August 18th card, knocking out Isaac Rodrigues in the sixth round.  Nicholson successfully defended his title on December 8th scoring a second-round KO over Fernando Castaneda in Bowie, MD.

Nicklow (27-9-3, nine KO's) makes his first attempt at a regional title in his 13-year career. The 2006 Beltway Boxing Rookie of The Year last fought on August 25th and lost by third-round TKO to Trevor McCumby in Glendale, CA.  Nicklow is undefeated in the state of Maryland (26-0-3, eight KO's).

In a six-round encounter, undefeated Rockville, MD middleweight "The Cisco Kid" Francisco Bustos will battle "Dangerous" Donald Wallace of Baltimore.  Both boxers fought their last bout on the last Jeter Promotions card on August 18th.   Bustos (8-0, five KO's) scored a crushing first-round knockout over Jauvan John while Wallace was in the 2018 Beltway Boxing Bout Of The Year when he scored a sixth-round TKO over Ashton Sykes.

In another six-round, all-Beltway bout, lightweight "The Red Comet" Dante Cox of Elkridge, MD will face off with Glenarden, MD's Drayvontay Speed Rawls.  Cox, who works in a restaurant at Live! Casino (3-0, two KO's), scored a third-round TKO over Varon Webb on the August 18th Live! Casino card.  Speed Rawls (10-1-1, seven KO's) has a two-bout winning streak that includes a fourth-round TKO over Matt Murphy on June 16th in Laurel, MD.

There will be a four-round super middleweight contest featuring two locals looking for their first win.  AJ "We Are" Williams of Cockeysville, MD will take on Dameron Kirby of Washington, DC.  Williams, a former collegiate boxer at Penn State University, has not fought since April of 2013 when he lost his pro debut by a four-round majority decision to Issa Coulibaly in Salisbury, MD.  Kirby (0-2) lost both of his bouts by first-round TKO in 2017, including a loss to Genc Pllana in October of 2017 in DC.

In a four-round featherweight bout, the debuting Ebrima Jawara of Germantown, MD will battle Malik "Li'l Leak" Loften of Suitland, MD.  Jawara was a fixture on the Beltway amateur scene competing in the Washington Golden Gloves, the Mayor's Cup and the 2016 Olympic Trials.  Loften (1-1, one KO) looks to bounce back from a four-round unanimous decision loss to Martino Jules on February 3rd in Bethlehem, PA.

Also making his pro debut will be Baltimore lightweight Brandon Chambers will face Christopher Haney of Glendale Heights, IL in a four-rounder. Chambers has little amateur experience but he is a seven-year veteran of the Baltimore City Police Department.  Haney (0-3-1) comes off a four-round split-decision draw with Paris Williams on July 29th in Gary, IN.

Reeves Competes For WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Title February 23rd In England!

A big addition to the February schedule.  Baltimore, MD light heavyweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves will have another opportunity for a regional title when he takes on undefeated Anthony Yarde of Ilford, Essex, England for Yarde's WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight title on Saturday, February 23rd at the Leicester Arena in Leicester, England.

Reeves (17-3-2, seven KO's) is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision win over Lanell Bellows on January 17th in Las Vegas, NV.  Reeves is a former USBO Light Heavyweight and Maryland State Cruiserweight champion who also challenged for the IBO World Light Heavyweight championship.

Yarde (17-0, 16 KO's) will be making the fifth defense of his WBO Inter-Continental championship that he won in September of 2017.  Yarde last fought on October 20th and scored a fourth-round TKO over Walter Gabriel Sequeira in Brentwood, England.  Yarde is also the WBO European titleholder.

Wade Scores First-Round Knockout In Return Bout; Artis Stopped In First In Rochester!

Largo, MD's Dominic "Lights Out" Wade showed no ring rust after his loss to Gennady Golovkin in April of 2016 as he demolished Martin Fidel Rios of Argentina in the first round Friday at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, NY.

According to Fightnews.com, Wade scored two crushing knockdowns, the second one coming from a left hand to the head that sent Rios to the canvas for the count.  The time of the knockout was 1:48.  Wade is now 19-1, 13 KO's while Rios falls to 23-19-4, 13 KO's.

Also on the card, Severn, MD heavyweight Sherman "The Tank" Artis lost by first-round knockout to Roney "Too Much" Hines of Cleveland, OH.  Hines knocked Artis down three times with body shots forcing Artis to take a knee each time.  The bout was stopped via the three-knockdown rule at 1:46 of the first.  Artis drops to 3-4 while Hines is now 4-0 with four first-round knockouts.

Wade, Artis Hit Scales For Rochester Bouts!

Dominic Wade and Sherman Artis weighed in for their bouts on Friday at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, NY.

Wade tipped the scales at 173 pounds for his eight-round bout against Martin Fidel Rios.  Rios arrived late to the weigh-in.

Artis came in at 230.6 for his four-round contest against Roney Hines, who weighed 231.2 pounds.
