We have learned that the championship contest between 11-time titleholder Tori "Sho Nuff" Nelson of Ashburn, VA and current WBC/WBO titleholder Christina Hammer of Dortmund, Germany will be a part of the Showtime telecast on Friday, June 22nd at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, MI.
Originally, the bout between Nelson (17-1-3, two KO's) and Hammer (22-0, 10 KO's) would be relegated to highlights and the entire contest would not be shown. However, happily, the executives changed their minds.
This makes the night very historic. All four major versions of the middleweight title will be on display during the evening. Claressa Shields and Hanna Gabriels will battle for the vacant WBA and IBF middleweight championships in the main event. The winners of both bouts are scheduled to meet each other in the fall to unify the titles.
