Amelia Moore Wins Women's National Golden Gloves Championship!
Congratulations to Beltway Boxer Amelia Moore who won a Women's National Golden Gloves Championship on Friday, July 14th in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Moore, a Millersville, MD resident who currently trains out of the Alexandria Boxing Gym in Alexandria, VA, won her 141-Pound title by defeating Aisling Holt of Illinois in Friday's action. Moore's semifinal victory may have been the most notable because she defeated Rashida Ellis of Lynn, MA. Ellis is a member of the fighting Ellis family that includes solid pro prospects Rashidi and Ronald.
Moore, who is pictured with her coach for the week, Tim Back, has made a rapid rise in the amateur boxing ranks. Moore's first coach, the late Thomas Langley, brought her to this tournament for the first time in 2014 where she lost in the first round. Two years later, Moore competed in the 2016 Women's Olympic trials at 132 pounds and advanced to the semifinals of the challenger's bracket. Moore is now regarded as one of the top amateur 141-pounders in the nation.
