Results From Saturday's Card In Springfield!

Here are the results from the Jeter Promotions/RBA Promotions card Saturday at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA:

Bowie, MD heavyweight Luther "Lights Out" Smith scored an easy first-round knockout of debuting Malcolm Ware of Raleigh, NC.  Ware was wild and reckless with his punches until he felt Smith's power.  Smith knocked Ware down twice before the bout was stopped at 1:29.  Smith is 3-0, three KO's all in the first round.

Welterweight Edgar "The Tiger" Torres stopped Aloric Carson of Indianapolis, IN at 2:37 of the second round. Torres dropped Carson twice during the contest with right hands before the bout was stopped.  Torres is now 7-0-1, four KO's while Carson is 0-9.

In an all-Pennsylvania battle, Rolando "Iron Man" Chinea of Lancaster won a six-round split decision over Christian "Quiet Riot" Steele of Philadelphia.  Two of the judges seemed to favor the activity of Chinea as he threw a large volume of punches.  Steele landed some solid shots throughout the contest but didn't do enough to get the win.  Judges Wayne Smith and Brian Costello saw the bout for Chinea 58-56 and 59-56 respectively while judge Eric Irizarry saw the contest for Steele, 58-56.  Chinea bounces back from suffering his first pro loss in his last bout and his record is now 11-1-1, six KO's.  Steele's record is now 4-18-2.

Silver Spring, MD junior lightweight Alexandru "Spartan" Marin took a six-round unanimous decision over Stephon McIntyre of Jonesboro, GA.  Marin was in control throughout the contest against the game McIntyre who withstood some solid punches.  Marin won by a 60-54 score across the board to remain undefeated at 7-0, four KO's.  McIntyre is now 2-15-2.

Super lightweight Drayvontay Speed-Rawls of Glenarden, MD stopped Shonta Barnes of Wilson, NC at 1:45 of the first round.  Speed-Rawls had no problem with the somewhat hyper Barnes as he hit Barnes with a right hand that dropped him.  When Barnes got up, he decided not to continue. Speed-Rawls is now 4-0, two KO's while Barnes is 0-2.

Two-time Irish Olympian John Joe Nevin of Mullingar, Ireland won a four-round unanimous decision over DeWayne Wisdom of Indianapolis, IN.  Nevin, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, stayed poised as Wisdom tried to clown his way through the bulk of the bout.  Referee Michelle Myers took two points away from Wisdom for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct.  Wisdom managed to survive the full four rounds but Nevin was in complete control.  Nevin won by scores of 40-33 and 40-34 (twice) to raise his record to 6-0, four KO's.  Wisdom is now 6-25-1, three KO's.

Heavyweight "Brutal" Brendan Barrett of Egg Harbor, NJ scored a second-round knockout over Schuyler Marshall of Columbia, SC. Barrett battered Marshall for two rounds until a left-right combination sent Marshall face first to the canvas.  Marshall beat Mark D'Atillio's count but was not fit to continue and the bout was stopped at 1:34.  Barrett is now 2-0-1, two KO's while Marshall falls to 1-7, one KO.

Lightweight Cobia "Soldier" Breedy, now fighting out of Clinton, MD, scored a first-round knockout over Brian Raglin of Indianapolis, IN.  Breedy, a native of Barbados, managed to trap Raglin near the ropes and drop him with a right hand.  Raglin could not beat the count and the bout was stopped at 1:44.  Breedy is now 4-0, three KO's and Raglin is 0-11.

Baltimore, MD super middleweight Jerome Featherstone won his pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over the equally debuting Bobby "Showtime" Geithers of Hickory, NC.  Featherstone gained the advantage in the contest relatively easily and forced Geithers into survival mode.  Featherstone won by shutout (40-36) on all three cards.

Welterweight Brian "La Bala" Mendoza of Albuquerque, NM socred a first-round knockout over Eddie Cordova of Clearfield, UT.  Mendoza dropped Cordova twice with crushing right hands before the bout was halted at 1:02.  Mendoza raises his record to 10-0, seven KO's while Cordova is now 4-11-1, one KO.

Tyler Howard of Tennessee won a second-round TKO over Jess "Thunder" Noriega of Lynchburg, VA in a super middleweight contest.  Howard knocked down Noriega twice in the first round and once in the second before the bout ended at two minutes.  Howard is now 10-0, seven KO's while Noriega is 3-15, three KO's.

"The Young General" Ian Green of Patterson, NJ won a middleweight contest by scoring a first -round TKO over Travis Davidson of Richmond, VA.   Green dropped Davidson with a right hand and ended the bout at 2:04.  Green is now 8-0, six KO's while Davidson is 2-8, two KO's.
