Undefeated Forestville, MD junior middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox will take on fellow undefeated boxer Patrick Day of Freeport, NY in an eight-round contest on Friday, January 9 at the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa in Cabazon, CA. The bout will be a feature contest on Showtime's Shobox telecast.
Fox (13-0-1, four KO's) last fought on September 20 and won a six-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Garcia in Queens, NY. This will be Fox's first eight-round contest since battling Frank Galarza to a draw in September of 2012.
Day (9-0-1, five KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over Felipe Reyes on October 15 in New York City. Day has never fought a scheduled eight-round bout.
On paper, this is a fascinating matchup because of the similarities in the two boxers. Both men are undefeated, 22 years old, had solid amateur backgrounds (Day was the number one ranked 152-pounder in the United States) and both are promoted by DiBella Entertainment.
This means that Friday, January 9 will be a huge day for Beltway Boxing fans with Fox on ShoBox and both Dusty Harrison and Cecil McCalla in separate bouts on Fox Sports 1 from the theater at Madison Square Garden.
