Baltimore, MD lightweight Tyrell "Da Show Shock 'A" Samuel lost an eight-round unanimous decision to David Rodela Friday night at the Performance Arts Center in Oxnard, CA.
According to Francisco Salazar of Boxingscene.com, Rodela, a native of Oxnard, was the busier fighter throughout and was very successful with left hooks to the head and body early in the contest.
Rodela stunned Samuel with combinations in the fifth and sixth rounds but almost let the bout get away in the final round when Samuel hurt him with a right hand in the last 30 seconds of the contest. Samuel could not follow up in time, however. Samuel lost by scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 78-74.
Samuel's record drops to 15-6-1, six KO's while Rodela is now 17-9-3, seven KO's.
