BATB wanted to confirm this before posting and, as of right now, there is no reason why this is happening, however, we can confirm that the May 18 bout between IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson of DC and Lucas Matthysse of Argentina at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ is now a non-title bout and will be fought at a catchweight of 141 pounds.
Golden Boy Promotions, who have both Peterson and Matthysse under contract, made the announcement via press release earlier this week however did not explain why this bout is no longer a title contest. BATB talked to a spokesperson for Peterson who is also waiting for an explanation.
We will keep you posted on any new developments. Tickets for this bout started going on sale today at Boardwalk Hall and at ticketmaster.com.
