Jargal Stops Aiken in One; Newby, Forrest Victorious at Fight Night!

Arlington, VA lightweight "The Mongolian Mongoose" Bayan Jargal scored an easy first-round TKO over late sub and former IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken of Washington, DC Thursday night at the annual Fight Night charity boxing event at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC.

Jargal dropped Aiken twice in the round with right hands before referee Joseph Cooper stopped the contest at 2:24 of the round.  The win was Jargal's third Fight Night victory of his career and gave him the "Fight For Children" title for this year.  Jargal's record is now 17-3-3, 11 KO's.  Aiken suffers his second straight first-round knockout loss and 16-10-1, 12 KO's.  Hopefully, that will be Aiken's final won-loss record; he should not be allowed to fight again.

In other bouts on the card, DC light heavyweight Greg Newby showed very accurate punching and good power en route to a third-round stoppage over Steven "Too Sharp" Tyner of Akron, OH.  Newby's battering opened cuts in Tyner's nose and mouth that the ringside physician could not stop.   Newby is now 2-0, two KO's while Tyner falls to 3-8-2, two KO's.

In the opening contest, Newport News, VA heavyweight Jerry "Slug" Forrest won a four-round unanimous decision over a very game Brice Ritani of Las Vegas, NV by way of New Zealand.  Forrest also showed solid accuracy against a bigger boxer who just wasn't going anywhere.  Forrest did manage to open cuts on the nose of Ritani. All three judges saw Forrest pitching a shutout, 40-36.  Forrest is now 2-0, one KO while Ritani loses for the first time in his career and he is now 3-1-1, three KO's.

I'm not surprise that Aiken got knocked out in the first round. Is really a shame that his people are letting him continue to fight. He really needs to focus on his personal life outside the ring. That is a battle on his own. If people really care about him and the image of the sport, he should not be able to be license top ever fight again. It is really sad how that man career has went down hill and no one is doing anything about it before serious injury sets in.

I must say that I agree with you. As I said in the post, Aiken should not be licensed to fight again. And that means anywhere in the country.

wow jargal and his people really took a hard fight that will make him better !!!! what a joke pit

Let me reiterate: Aiken was NOT Jargal's original opponent. The original opponent was to be Lonnie Smith, who would have posed much stronger opposition for Jargal. Some people were saying that one could have been a pick em fight.

So the Aiken bout was not one Jargal's camp chose, it was chosen for him.

(Let me reiterate)
Why give extra effort here Gary.
Everyone here has been picking on Mouse.
All these people that fight Mouse
and want to fight him now I guarentee you wouldn't want any parts of him in his prime.
This was calculated and excecuted
just like it was supposed to be.
Aiken was the opponet from the beginning. Not saying you knew this but if you didn't realize it then open your eyes.

Just be real dude

Actually, no he wasn't. I talked to both Jargal's people as well as the matchmaker, Eric Bottjer. Everyone was saying that Lonnie Smith, Jr. was to be the opponent.

Smith however, could not be contacted and that was when they had to find another opponent. I'm reiterating this because this is something I have said before on other posts.

The change was not finalized until Monday. -- It is possible (just speculation) that the bout might have been made at the Lange-Jeter card the previous Saturday because all parties involved were in attendance.

and let me repeat, Eric Botjer is a scumbag who didn't invite a HOF fighter named Mark Johnson.

What does the DMV have to say about that?

That wasn't Bottjer's call. He doesn't have control over the legends who come to the show. That falls on Fight For Children themselves. He only matches the bouts in the ring.

I actually sent Fight for children info on Johnson the day before the event and they did try to get him on the show at the 11th hour. They didn't know how to contact him and I didn't have a contact number on him at that time.

I don't think that will happen again. I do believe Johnson will be a part of this from here on out. I will personally make sure of that!

GARY I BELIEVE YOU HAVE A GENUINE HEART WHICH IS SOMETHING RARE IN THIS BUSNIESS BUT YOU NEED TO STOP DEFENDING PEOPLE (WELL CERTAIN PEOPLE ANYWAY)AND STICK TO THE FACTS.yOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD YOUR PICKS AND I THINK YOU WOULD BE RESPECTED MORE IF YOU DIDN'T TRY TO DEFEND PEOPLE.I HAVE BEEN IN THIS BUSNIESS LONGER THAN YOU
AND THE PEOPLE YOU DEFEND AREN'T GIVING A SHIT ABOUT YOU

It's not about "defending people." It is about sticking to the facts.

I know for A FACT that Eric Bottjer had nothing to do with choosing the legends. The concept of the legends being on Fight Night started long before Bottjer got involved with the event. In fact, Bottjer and I covered the event together back in the 1990's.

I know for A FACT that Eric Aiken was not Bayan Jargal's original opponent. I talked to Bottjer as well as JD Brown and it was posted in the program and could not have been changed. Lonnie Smith, Jr. was the original opponent.

If you have been in this business longer than I have, and I am in my 28th year by the way, you more than likely know me personally. Therefore. you should have the guts to come up to me to make these accusations.

And if you DO know me, you also know that I have no cut card. Just like I helped expose the lie that Teddy Atlas was supposed to be at the Keystone show Saturday night or that Dusty Harrison was supposed to have an ESPN date in February.

Both those stories were proven to be false. I try very hard to deal in facts.

You do not know for a fact .
You know what you were told and you believe in good faith that it is the truth, but Know this-- you do not know certain aspects of this sport from the promotional level. Most people have things planned out in advance when they promote this sport and the people performing in the ring.
They are not going to tell you the truth about everything because they want to use your blog to promote themselves.

So you're saying that they told this to ESPN.com (who ran the original schedule with Lonnie Smith) and they told this to the Fight Night people (who put the original info in the program) to FOOL THEM? What would possibly be the reason for that?

That would not be serving their boxer by any means.
