Jalonte Cole of DC and DaQuan Johnson of Capitol Heights, MD won their semifinal matchups at the Junior Olympic National Championships in Mobile, AL this afternoon. Cole defeated Eduardo Garcia in the 125-pound semis by a 14-9 decision. Johnson advanced to the finals of the 176-pound class by winning an 18-11 decision over Luciano Stoica of Glendale, AZ.
During the evening session, Malik Hawkins of Baltimore, MD (145 pounds) Jason Bell of District Heights, MD (165 pounds) and Calvin Countess of Abingdon, MD (201 pounds) will compete to advance into their finals. Countess was a late addition to the Beltway squad but was very impressive in his opening bout, winning a 19-2 decision.
