RingTV.com's Lem Satterfield is reporting that the IBF has officially named DC heavyweight Tony "The Tiger" Thompson its number-one challenger to Wladimir Klitschko.
Thompson was scheduled to face Eddie Chambers in an IBF elimination bout last night in Atlantic City, NJ, but Chambers pulled out with a back injury. The bout was then rescheduled for December 17 but Chambers told the IBF he would not be ready by then.
Thompson (36-2, 24 KO's) recently turned 40 years old and has won five straight bouts since his first attempt against Klitschko in 2008 when he was stopped in the 11th round.
