DC welterweight Dusty Harrison has been added to the Saturday, September 10 ICE Promotions card at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. The bout will be the 17-year-old Harrison's first pro bout in the Beltway area.
Harrison (2-0) was originally slated to appear on the Saturday, August 27 card in San Jose, CA but his opponent backed out of the bout and the card was eventually cancelled because of an injury to a boxer in the main event.
Harrison will take on debuting DC welter Josh Rupard in a four-round bout.

Who is Josh Rupard? What gym is he from? Did he fight in the amateurs?
Josh Rupard is originally from Jamaca and from what I gather he has only had 27-29 amatuer fights.
He is currently training in Richmond VA. Last word is that they are currently looking for a back-up because Mr. Rupard is weighing 162 pounds.
i no josh, he is an mma guy who tapped out against willy in pa. i doubt he does any better in boxing.
He will never make 147, 154 yes but thats it.

Josh is strong as an Ox. Team Harrison may end up regretting this fight. He most likely isn't as good of a boxer, but one shot and lights go out. I suggest that Dusty stay on his bicycle for the entire fight. He's too young, not strong enough yet to be in there with Josh who obviously trains like a work-hoarse.

Dusty will do fine in the fight. He has a enough experience to survive. I am sure that his team has done there homework on this guy. He may be strong as an ox but that doesnt mean he can fight worth a shit. Give the guy a chance before you go cutting him down. The ticket sales thing....it's part of boxing. You have to put asses in the seats in order to get on the shows. If you dont then youre brought in as an opponent for someone else. again give him a chance.

Oh I agree the kid has a huge following, but his team is careless and should not be fighting a grown man who has plenty of experiance with MMA. I've spoke to many, and they all say the same thing. The MMA guy (Josh) has knock-out power in both hands. One good shot is all it takes!Furthermore, you need to worry about Josh having MMA flash-backs and getting the kid in a choke hold of some sort. Or perhaps a flying spin back footed kick to the temple. Either way, I have already purchased my tickets.

In the evening’s Main Event, hometown fan favorite and former star of the boxing reality TV show The Contender Jimmy Lange (Great Falls, VA) will fight for a world title, taking on Raul “El Toro” Munoz (Topeka, KS) for the World Boxing Union (WBU) 154-lb Championship. The card will also feature Lange’s Contender teammate Jonathan “Reid Dawg” Reid facing George “Wartime” Rivera in the co-Main Event plus another Contender participant (Season 2) Michael “No Joke” Stewart. Two charter buses will be leaving Rosecroft parking lot at aprox: 5:00 pm sat. September 10th. This ride is free. You must show tickets Patriot Center tickets to driver in order to have seat on bus. Each bus holds a total of 53 persons. As of August 24th., there are exactly 27 seats still available. Please contact Rosecroft gym with proof of tickets in order to secure place on bus.

I really like Dusty and Buddy. I wish them the best in his career. I am concerned to know if Dave Holland Has approved this fight since page 7 of the VA DPOR rules in Section 3 states that the minimum age of a professional boxer in VA is 18 years. I only ask because I recently had a young man that I wanted to turn pro, but had to delay because of the state rules.

I too was wondering about the age limit, but was under the impression since he had over 200 amateur bouts and has already had 2 or 3 professional bouts, that his case would be different. I do know that he was approved in Tenn., Miss, Nevada, and Washington DC.
I know he packed the place in the amateurs and was looking forward to seeing him in home debut. I will attend regardless; I have been a Mighty Mouse fan for years. I think he is fighting Wilson as a Light weight? I hear he's back and trainging hard. I guess I won't be getting a free ride on the so called Dusty Bus. LMAO Oh Well, when does he turn 21 anyway? Would like to see one of his pro fights within driving distance. Hang in there Dust Mop, you only have to wait four more years to box locally. (smile)

I am not protesting this, only questioning.
I did not write those comments about Dusty Harrison and I do not know him nor his father other than what I read about on this site. I have heard the young man is extremely talented and I wish him well in his career. Someone has signed my name to those comments. Actually they went through the trouble of registering a blogger account, using my name and then signing my name. To that person I say what a pitiful and pathetic existenc you must have. Gary, if you have the time, please take those comments down about Dusty Harrison, I did not say them.
State commission rule books can be long and arduous reading. I have actually read the Virginia Guidelines but of course I can't remember every word. It is a difficult task for a promoter, matchmaker, boxer, even commissioner, to know every rule in the book. I am sure this was just an honest mistake by those involved, however based on what the rule book says I wouldn't expect anyone under the age of 18 to box professionally in Virginia while that statute is on the books.
If the young man is the draw that he is purported to be, and has been selling tickets thus far, there is clearly enough time to rectify that situation.
