DC welterweight Dusty Harrison has been added to the Saturday, September 10 ICE Promotions card at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. The bout will be the 17-year-old Harrison's first pro bout in the Beltway area.
Harrison (2-0) was originally slated to appear on the Saturday, August 27 card in San Jose, CA but his opponent backed out of the bout and the card was eventually cancelled because of an injury to a boxer in the main event.
Harrison will take on debuting DC welter Josh Rupard in a four-round bout.
Who is Josh Rupard? What gym is he from? Did he fight in the amateurs?
ReplyDeleteJosh Rupard is originally from Jamaca and from what I gather he has only had 27-29 amatuer fights.
ReplyDeleteHe is currently training in Richmond VA. Last word is that they are currently looking for a back-up because Mr. Rupard is weighing 162 pounds.
i no josh, he is an mma guy who tapped out against willy in pa. i doubt he does any better in boxing.
ReplyDeleteHe will never make 147, 154 yes but thats it.
ReplyDeleteRupard is a puncher. Harrison is a boxer. Could be a boring 4 round fight.
ReplyDeleteDust Mop will hit the floor.
ReplyDeletei was the guy who asked who was Josh. I think It could be a good fight if they do. Im not a hater just want to see some changes around here. Atleast we have a new face fighting on the beltway
ReplyDeleteJosh is strong as an Ox. Team Harrison may end up regretting this fight. He most likely isn't as good of a boxer, but one shot and lights go out. I suggest that Dusty stay on his bicycle for the entire fight. He's too young, not strong enough yet to be in there with Josh who obviously trains like a work-hoarse.
ReplyDeletehorse dummy-not hourse
ReplyDeleteDust Dog has bitten off more than he can chew.
ReplyDeleteMMA vs. Boxing-time will tell. James Toney failed and so will Harrison. lol
ReplyDeleteDust pan

ReplyDeleteThey are just using you for ticket sales! What percentage of ticket sells do you receive? 10 % at the most. Wake up kid, they are using you big time! Trust me, I've been there-done that.
ReplyDeleteDusty will do fine in the fight. He has a enough experience to survive. I am sure that his team has done there homework on this guy. He may be strong as an ox but that doesnt mean he can fight worth a shit. Give the guy a chance before you go cutting him down. The ticket sales thing....it's part of boxing. You have to put asses in the seats in order to get on the shows. If you dont then youre brought in as an opponent for someone else. again give him a chance.
ReplyDelete-DooMan
Oh I agree the kid has a huge following, but his team is careless and should not be fighting a grown man who has plenty of experiance with MMA. I've spoke to many, and they all say the same thing. The MMA guy (Josh) has knock-out power in both hands. One good shot is all it takes!Furthermore, you need to worry about Josh having MMA flash-backs and getting the kid in a choke hold of some sort. Or perhaps a flying spin back footed kick to the temple. Either way, I have already purchased my tickets.
ReplyDeleteFAIRFAX, VA - Highly-regarded, teenage welterweight phenom Dusty Harrison (2-0) of Washington, DC will make his local professional debut on the Jimmy Lange Boxing card coming to the Patriot Center on Saturday, September 10. A rising senior at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf, MD, Harrison, who turned 17 on May 21, will face debuting Josh Rupard of Washington, DC in a four-round contest.
ReplyDeleteBeltway boxing fans have watched the maturation of the young fighter during a successful amateur career consisting of more than 200 bouts resulting in countless accolades and awards. Touted as the youngest pro boxer in America, he is trained and advised by his father, Buddy Harrison, who runs Old School Boxing (Temple Hills, MD). Harrison made his successful pro debut on June 11 against Alphonso Alexander and followed it up on July 30 with a win against Trenton Titsworth. Both bouts came on cards held in Mississippi.
In the evening’s Main Event, hometown fan favorite and former star of the boxing reality TV show The Contender Jimmy Lange (Great Falls, VA) will fight for a world title, taking on Raul “El Toro” Munoz (Topeka, KS) for the World Boxing Union (WBU) 154-lb Championship. The card will also feature Lange’s Contender teammate Jonathan “Reid Dawg” Reid facing George “Wartime” Rivera in the co-Main Event plus another Contender participant (Season 2) Michael “No Joke” Stewart. Todd “White Lightning” Wilson (Fairfax) will battle former world champion Eric “Mighty Mouse” Aiken (Washington, DC), while Zain Shah (Chantilly), Lawrence Jones (Reston) and Scott Sigmon (Lynchburg) will also be showcased.
The youngster is stealing the show from Jimmy Lange. LMAO Papa Lange going to get mad as hell. Plus Mighty Mouse Aikens returns. Hell Yeah! Dusty thinks he's a rock star. Doesn't he have to get for school the next day-lol.

ReplyDeleteno its not televised. can't we at least get this shit on gofightliv.com or somethign

ReplyDeleteDust in the wind
ReplyDeleteI really like Dusty and Buddy. I wish them the best in his career. I am concerned to know if Dave Holland Has approved this fight since page 7 of the VA DPOR rules in Section 3 states that the minimum age of a professional boxer in VA is 18 years. I only ask because I recently had a young man that I wanted to turn pro, but had to delay because of the state rules.
ReplyDeleteBruce I was thinking the same thing, there are only a small handful of states that would let him fight
ReplyDeleteBite the dust
ReplyDeleteI too was wondering about the age limit, but was under the impression since he had over 200 amateur bouts and has already had 2 or 3 professional bouts, that his case would be different. I do know that he was approved in Tenn., Miss, Nevada, and Washington DC.
ReplyDeleteI know he packed the place in the amateurs and was looking forward to seeing him in home debut. I will attend regardless; I have been a Mighty Mouse fan for years. I think he is fighting Wilson as a Light weight? I hear he's back and trainging hard. I guess I won't be getting a free ride on the so called Dusty Bus. LMAO Oh Well, when does he turn 21 anyway? Would like to see one of his pro fights within driving distance. Hang in there Dust Mop, you only have to wait four more years to box locally. (smile)
18 dummy, not 21
ReplyDeleteSounds like Bruce Frank is protesting this. He even quotes:page 7 of the VA DPOR rules in Section 3 states that the minimum age of a professional boxer in VA is 18 years old. Yet he mentions that he like them. Yeah Right! Hate to see if you didn't like them.
ReplyDeletei was thing thinking the same thing
ReplyDeleteDusty Harrison Youngest Boxer in USA 6-11-11 Pro Debut 1. ...Dusty Harrison vs. Alphonso Alexander De Soto Civic Center Saturday, June 11, 2011 Pro Debut Rounds 1 & 2 Youngest Pro Boxer in USA - Age 17
ReplyDelete(They tell his age right here)
that's on you tube, but that does not tell his exact age. that just tell when that particular fight was.
ReplyDeleteTeddy,
ReplyDeleteI am not protesting this, only questioning.
I did not write those comments about Dusty Harrison and I do not know him nor his father other than what I read about on this site. I have heard the young man is extremely talented and I wish him well in his career. Someone has signed my name to those comments. Actually they went through the trouble of registering a blogger account, using my name and then signing my name. To that person I say what a pitiful and pathetic existenc you must have. Gary, if you have the time, please take those comments down about Dusty Harrison, I did not say them.
ReplyDeleteState commission rule books can be long and arduous reading. I have actually read the Virginia Guidelines but of course I can't remember every word. It is a difficult task for a promoter, matchmaker, boxer, even commissioner, to know every rule in the book. I am sure this was just an honest mistake by those involved, however based on what the rule book says I wouldn't expect anyone under the age of 18 to box professionally in Virginia while that statute is on the books.
If the young man is the draw that he is purported to be, and has been selling tickets thus far, there is clearly enough time to rectify that situation.
Thanks,
Joe Hensley
Talked to Dave Holland today he said Dusty Harrison will not fight in his state until his 18th birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear. Good luck, Joe.
ReplyDeleteI fought on Hensley's last show and he never paid me.
ReplyDeleteI own dry cleaning shop. Joe Hensley bounce check on me. No more services for him.
ReplyDeleteHensley has emerged from his rat hole
ReplyDeleteDo not let anyone trick you into purchasing tickets to see Dusty fight. Dave Holland said no, he's too young. LMAO
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous! To the coward that keeps signing my name you are a worthless, sorry, cowardly, and pitiful human being. I found my blogger login so when I post you will see this picture beside my name. Again, only one comment made with my name is mine. The other ones that say Joe Hensley, even the one that is registered through blogger, is not mine.
ReplyDeleteNow to my little anonymous terrorist, you may not be smart enough to know what libel is. But when you are literally using my name and talking about bankruptcy, bounced checks and the like that is the definition of libel. Your comments can be traced by anyone who wants to trace them.
Your sorry ass has been warned.
Thanks,
Joe Hensley
Joe, I'm not the guy or girl or guys/girls posting but believe you don't have a libel claim here as you would have to prove harm from the statements and we all know the posts are jokes brought on by your past outrageous statements on this blog.
ReplyDeletePlease do not draw any attention to Joe Hensley. He is a shameless self-promoter.
ReplyDeleteIf you say one more word about Joe Hensley I am going to punch you in the face several times.
ReplyDeleteJoe Hensley, when will your next show be?
ReplyDeleteHensley ain't having no more shows.
ReplyDeleteHensely is good guy, but lousy promoter
