Baltimore super middleweight Maxell "The General" Taylor lost his bid for the USBA Super Middleweight title as he was stopped in the eighth round by Donovan "Da Bomb" George last night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL.
According to Fightnews.com's Chris Davis,George (22-1-1, 19 KOs) pressed forward the whole night, winging shots at his opponent’s head, body, arms, and elbows. Baltimore’s Taylor (15-3-1, six KOs) circled, landing jabs and the occasional combination from the outside. George’s pressure paid off in the eigth, when he caught Taylor in the corner, opening up with furious lefts and rights sending Taylor sprawling to the canvas. The game Taylor got to his feet, but soon after George pinned him to the ropes letting loose with an onslaught of unanswered punches, forcing referee Gino Rodriguez to wave it off at 2:05 of Round 8.
