Recently, a delegation of dignitaries from Central America traveled to Baltimore and visited the UMAR Boxing Gym, famous for their "No Hooks Before Books" program.
The reason for the trip was so the Central American delegation could look at working models that have helped keep young people in positive situations instead of the trouble the streets can bring. According to Marvin McDowell, the proprietor of the UMAR Gym, there is an issue with gang violence in parts of Central America.
The 19-member delegation included the vice-minister of the Ministry of Youth in the Dominican Republic.
