There is some big news concerning the October 7 card at the George Mason University Patriot Center.
First, one of the promoters on this card is my good friend Joe Hensley from Richmond, VA. This guy is familiar to many people along the Beltway and he is doing great things in the southern part of Virginia. He has been an incredible friend and supporter of this blog and his website, MajorLeagueBoxing.com, is on my links list and I encourage you to visit his site often.
The main event remains the same; Great Falls, VA's Jimmy Lange returns as he faces Thomas Wilt of Altoona, PA.
The big news concerns the co-feature, which has the makings of a great one. DC middleweight Purcell "Hard Rock" Miller is scheduled to face "Contender: Season One" participant Anthony Bonsante!
Also slated for the card are Southern Virginia favorites Dorin Spivey and David Chappell along with Beltway Boxers Derek Amos, Ray Grant and Mike Sawyer.
This looks like it will be a barnburner of a card. You can get info on ticket prices by going to MajorLeagueBoxing.com. Also, Joe has a nice audio interview with Dorin Spivey on his site. Of course, you can also find the latest details on the card right here.

I remember seeing several of these guys at the ABC Sports Complex show early July-I wonder if Amons and Grant will have as easy knockouts. And wasn't Miller the one who had his own band do his entrance music (what song was that anyway)? And hopefully "Money" Mike will be able to recover from that loss (which should've been a draw). I saw Lange at both of the other Patriot Center shows, but what can you tell us about Wilt (e.g. should it be a good fight)? Should be a good card-I'll be there one way or another. You going Digital?
Two more things:
The full card (currently), apparently from Joe himself, can be found at http://www.boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47870
Also, Digital, I saw Purcell at the Springfield show, and he looked pretty good-how's Bonsante?
Oh, and Digital, I don't know if you consider the site above a competitor of fightnews, so feel free to delete if you want.
Right now, ACW, Amos is scheduled to face David Chappell. May not be an easy one for him. Wilt is out of Altoona, PA. Has only four knockouts and may be just a confidence builder for Jimmy.
Bonsante was knocked out in his last bout earlier this month by Allen Green on ESPN2. By the way, the bout with Bonsante is not a done deal officially, that's why I said "scheduled" If all goes well, I should be there.
Boxrec.com helps me in many things I do. If you notice, a number of my links are considered "competitors" of Fightnews. No problem
majorleagueboxing.com is updated-tix on sale tomorrow morning
