The Women's International Boxing Association (WIBA) has honored two locals with awards for 2012.
DC-born, Baltimore-based flyweight Tyrieshia "Baby Girl" Douglas has been named Rookie of the Year. Douglas (2-0, one KO) transitioned from a solid amateur career and posted two quality victories in her first two outings. Douglas scored a first-round TKO in her pro debut on August 4 at the Renaissance Hotel in DC and then won a four-round unanimous decision at the Jonathan Ogden Foundation card in Cockeysville, MD on November 8.
Also, Craig Fladager, the trainer/manager of WIBA Middleweight champion Tori "Sho Nuff" Nelson, has been selected as Manager of the Year. Fladager has trained Nelson (6-0-2) since her amateur days and became her manager when Nelson turned pro in 2010. Under Fladager's guidance, Nelson has won two world titles and has placed her in position for bouts with other world titles on the line. Congratulations to both Douglas and Fladager.

Congratulations Craig. You have become one of the top trainers in our area and now have successfully led Tori to the top. A well-deserved award.

The post clearly states that they were selected by the Women's International Boxing Association -- The WIBA!
