BATB would like to apologize to the Akinyanju family and anyone else who was mislead by a recent post. Based on information given by other outlets, I was given the impression that the Akinyanju family had politely declined the recent contributions that some, including myself had given. After talking with members of the family, I have been told that is DEFINITELY not true. They have told me that any help given is greatly appreciated.
I truly regret the error made in this situation.

on the behalf of the Akinyanju family
we would like for you to disregard the above comment about not sending any contributions. These contributions are welcomed and appreciated. We appreciate the condolences and the support.
Thank you,
Caroline Fakinlede-funke Akinyanju (mother of the deceased)
How do we get a hold of you? When is the funeral? Will Bo's wife be at the fights on the 25th. of August? Do you have a number where we can reach you at? According to reporters, his wife wishes to be left alone and wants others to know that she is not asking and does not need any help. Hopefully she will be at the fights; there are so many that wish to help.
May he rest in perfect peace.. according to people close, his best friend will be there on her behalf, and will stand in the ring for the final 10 count. As we have to understand she has a newborn that she is taking care of. Please do not be discouraged, your condolences have been received and appreciated, and the out pour of support from this community has been healing for her. Again thank you, you guys have been great and gone way above and beyond expectation.. God bless!
my fiancee was good friends of Bo and he is just finding out what happend..Our prayers are with his family..I have been trying to find out about the arrangements for him..can any body please help me out.My fiancee is distraught and has been quiet all evening..
thanks
Thank you for the comments and as soon as we find out information on the arrangements, we will pass them along.
That's great that his best friend will be there, however, people are now extremely cautious and want to hand any and all checks directly to the mother of this young child. Just three days ago, we were told by the mother that she would not accept any help and had more than enough funds for everything. That coupled with all the negative comments on here has people extremly leery. Hopefully, we will see the mother and child at the funeral and hand any funds directly to her.
The world is full of con artists who will use all kinds of ploys to defraud others out of their money.
When death happens it can bring out the scam artists who try to steal donations from well-meaning people wanting to help.
You might think you can spot a con artist because he's someone you instinctively "don't trust." But the term con artist is short for confidence artist -- they gain your confidence just long enough to get their hands on your money. They can be very charming and persuasive. A good con artist can even make you believe he is really an old friend you haven't seen in years.
If you feel more comfortable she will be at the funeral and you can hand it to her.. Gary you are being told wrong information about her, as she didn't even know about this. She said she wanted Bo to be honored as a boxer and wanted Hus life and career celebrated, but the reporter wanted to paint a different "sensational" story about his end, about his son and wife. That's what happened. She will nor be at the fight as I don't think she can handle it but Bo trusted his best friend with his life and so does she.
Little confused? You say she did not know, but you said a reporter came to her. How could she not know? Also, from what I gather, several companies are trying to help her. Why not a beautiful story about her, Bo, and the child?
I do agree with you, perhaps one should give her and the child any funds at the funeral. That would be very touching. When is the funeral? Many people are waiting. Thank you for any help you can give in this matter.
His best friend will be at the fight for those who can't make it to the funeral, he is the one she trusts... please at a time like this she just wants to honor and respect the memories of her husband and care for their newborn. God bless you all...
She was told about d reporter through his manager.. she did not speak to the reporter directly.. also @Greg, she knew how important boxing and the BATB family was to Bo and wanted the last report about him to celebrate, even if it was short lived, his career. Not a piece that was overshadowed by his death and his new born and wife he left behind... which was shat was painted to her... when the details of the funeral id completed, I will be sure to let Gary know to post it..
Everything is solved! Bo's wife will be there and she is very gratefull for all that is being done. She is a kind and loving young widow mother. I hope she is reciving the love that she needs to get by this difficult time.

Message from Buddy at Old School Boxing Gym: Hey Ray, that's not Gary's fault, that's more my fault than his. I was told this stuff from lady on channel 4 news plus Bo's trainer was told the same. Gary should not be apologizing, I should. Either way, it looks like all will end up just fine. See you at the fights. BH
I'm sure his cousins Gbenga Akinnagbe(Chris from The Wire) and (Rapper) Wale will donate handsomely to thier family directly.
