Two Beltway Boxing Legends and one Baltimore fan favorite will be involved in championship bouts on a Titanium Promotions card on Saturday, May 29 at the DC Armory in Washington DC.
The title matchups will be sanctioned by the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO), whose president resides in Germany. One of those title bouts will be for the vacant UBO International junior middleweight title and will feature former WBC Middleweight champion Keith Holmes. Holmes (41-5, 25 KO's) hasn't fought since June 6 when he won an eight-round unanimous decision over Willis Lockett at the Washington Convention Center. No word yet on who Holmes's opponent will be.
Another title bout will include former WBO Junior Welterweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley (36-13-1, 21 KO's) who will face Verquan "The Show" Kimbrough of Pittsburgh, PA (21-3-3, seven KO's) in a bout for the UBO Junior Welterweight crown. Corley has lost his last two bouts, including being stopped in the fifth round by Freddy Hernandez on February 9 in Santa Ynez, CA. Kimbrough, is no stranger to Beltway competition, having fought Dean White twice during his career, winning a six-round majority decision in West Virginia in February of 2007 and battling to an eight-round draw in November of last year at the Washington Hilton and Towers in DC. That draw is part of a three-bout winless streak that Kimbrough will be looking to break against Corley.
The third UBO title bout will pit Baltimore's Ishmail "The Arsenal" Arvin against Kassim "The Dream" Ouma of Palm Beach Gardens, FL by way of Uganda for the world junior middleweight title. Arvin (15-2-4, seven KO's) is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision loss to Pawel Wolak on January 23 at Madison Square Garden. Ouma (26-7-1, 16 KO's) has a record of 1-5 in his last six bouts, but the losses have come against the likes of Jermain Taylor, Cornelius Bundrage and, in his last outing, Vanas Matirosyan, whom Ouma lost a 10-round unanimous decision.
Titanium Promotions is a new local promotional group run by Garcia Staley,Sr. We'll hear more from them in the weeks to come.

Handle ya bidness Ish... I know you will!
is he any relation to Dale Staley?
I don't think so, but I will check.
Wow, one shot fighter to the next. Chop Chop got destroyed last time out and I don't want to hear about the wt issue! Keith Holmes? Come on! And Arvin vs Ouma? Yet another loss for Arvin. Who is making his matches and getting him nothing, but losses?
Who else is next on this card? Darryl Tyson, William Joppy and Mo Wilson? What a joke. UBO? U Bogus Org is what that stands for!
Joe
Mama dat you? I need some breast milk.
this site has no quality control. it treats a real fight for say one of the petersons the same way that it treats some bs fight for some completely bogus title by what is clearly a bogus promoter what a joke.
I am not in a position to make a judgement on a potential card. I have checked and double checked this card. If they want to make these bouts title bouts, it's not my place.to judge.
To call Mr. Staley a "bogus" promoter without any proof, is bordering on a libelous claim. Prove to us that he is bogus.
Right now, I look at Mr Staley as someone who is trying to bring a boxing card to DC. Are you doing the same?
And you think that only a couple of prople should promote or fight.
You obviously don't know the history and accomplishments of some of these guys.
The post two notches back is for you to you idot.
Looks like a solid card to me. Holmes can still fight. He beat Lockett easily and Lockett stopped perennial contender Larry Marks, so that's a big win. Arvin vs. Ouma is a good fight and the winner gets to go on with a quality win. If those two fights are an indication, I would say Corley is fighting someone credible as well. I'll be there to support it.
Arvin Ouma is gonna be a good fight.I'll check that out.
Arvin cannot beat Ouma no matter how much he has slipped. Anyone want to bet on that one?
Joe
No, this site does have quality control and Gary unlike many others, let's people speak. Some of the comments are stupid, but this is America and the people should be heard. Instead of insulting him, you should give him big props for caring about these fighters in this area even if most are not all that!

This site provides the best and most up-to-date coverage possible of the boxing scene in DC and the surrounding areas. Gary deserves a huge amount of credit for the effort he puts forth for us fans.
As far as the UBO goes, it has a long way to go toward credibility, and I doubt they're going fool anyone into believing any these fights are for "world championships." Hopefully the WBO can in the future serve as a sort of elimination round for would be contenders.
Card looks solid to me. I'm a huge fan of Corley and D.C. boxing and I will be there to support. Go Chop Chop! Knock this guy out please!
