Anthony Peterson and his opponent, Juan Ramon Cruz both weighed in at 137 pounds for their 10-round matchup tonight at the Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX. A world title shot could be in the offering for Peterson if he wins.
Peterson could get the winner of the Interim WBC Lightweight title bout between Humberto Soto and David Diaz which will be Saturday night on the Pacquiao-Clottey undercard.
Bouts from this card will be shown on Fox Sports en Espanol, but no word on whether Peterson's bout will be on the telecast. If anyone has this channel, please let us know.
THIS JUST IN: ESPN.com's Dan Rafael is reporting that if Soto and Peterson win their bouts, then Soto would defend his WBC Lightweight title against Peterson on June 5 at Yankee Stadium in New York on the co-feature to Miguel Cotto-Yuri Foreman. Both those bouts would be shown on HBO.
Rafael also reports that Showtime has an interest in the proposed matchup between Lamont Peterson and former WBC Lightweight champ Edwin Valero and that bout could happen in July.
