Extremely close bout. Could have flipped a coin. Russell looked to be stronger while Reed was slightly slicker and faster. Looked as though rounds only lasted a minute and half. Good fight though, two good boxers.
It was a good fight. Video will be up soon. Very disappointed that the open class bout were not 3 minutes. Bobby Magruder just cares about money and not preparing our DC team for nationals. It's a shame.
The fight was not close at all sorry. Allan did what he had to accomplish by dominating and controlling the bout at his own pace. So I really beg to differ. Mike reed did his best and did good but I believe Allan couldve embarassed him greatly but he showed class and grace. Save the drama for the Nationals
There is no way in the world that you were even there. Allen did a fine job, but even himself admits that endurance played a factor in this particular bout. Russell won by 3-2 with one judge scoring even but circled Russell due to the agressiveness. That comes from the horses mouth! Furthermore, the fight will be posted soon and you will see for yourself what really happened. Do not come on here critizing Russell or Reed. Russell is a fighter, he did not show any mercy to Reed. He gave it his best. How dare you say Russell was half-stepping. This game is not for fun. Yes I know that he seemed extremely tired, but he will learn from this and come back stronger next time. Fight should be posted by this evening. Hope to see both of these fine young men boxing again next year Golden Gloves.

Good fight by both fighters. close, close fight that could of gone either way. gary almost let the fight slip from him at the end. when he hurt reed and got the 8 count he should of jumped on him but he let him off the hook. reed was hurt pretty bad. the youngster showed some real grit and came back the last round. definitely a fight that will make reed a lot better.
The youngster won, the entire audience booed, Mike Reid is the Peoples Champion. Unfortunatley, he will not get another shot. Russell camp will refuse a rematch.
i was there and the crowd was not booing. If you think mike reed won thats cool, but dont go and lie trying to prove your point.
well this is mike reed and i jus wat to say the fight could hav went either way...da 8count really didnt help me with the outcome of the fight....hat off 2 allen n i hav the upmost respect for him..its over n done with he got da W and is advancing to da regionals gud luck to him

It was a good bout and it lived up to what everything thought it would. it was the only thing I paid to see and I got my money's worth. good luck to both of the guys and USAs are next month. we can do it again. i heard it was 3-2 and he ended up losing by a few pts so the judges agreed it was close.

I just watched fight on u tube. All comments seem wrong to me. I thought it was a very close fight and can see it going either way. Reed was in better shape obviously but Russell did hit hard.
the mike reed allen russall fight was a helluva fight,but i think that david grayton jacey thompsan fight was the fight of the night,thats just my opinion,theyt was going at it.

Great fight by both young men. Both boxers showed a lot of skill and heart, I think the bout was extremely close. I had Allen winning by a small margin he threw some good combonatioms, and Mike countered very effectively. Hope they do it again in the USA's. DC's open fighters are going to be back on top we are going to have some great fighters over the next couple of years
That's a great point Rivers, Douglas Russell, Reed, Grayton, Ballard, Floyd, Odom, Fox, Nicholson are some of the top boxers in the country. Great things in the future for these boxers.
