Beltway Boxing Press!

There are a couple of nice Beltway Boxing articles out today. Hayley Peterson of the Washington Examiner conducts the "3-Minute Interview" with Buddy Harrison, the owner of Old School Boxing gym located at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD. That can be found here:

Also, Alec Kohut of MaxBoxing.com has a profile of undefeated Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell in the first of his "Next in Line" series. That profile can be located here:

This alec Kohut, does he have any experience at the game or is he somebody trying to get started by starting a web site. Two month's ago I asked him on this web site
what was his connection to boxing and he stated he was only a fan of the sport and had no other connection.Gary can you clarify this and let us know. Also if he is just getting started I as well as others will be happy to cooperate with him and help him
through the first few months of this birth. If he is just getting started maybe he needs to sit back and take notes for a while before he starts passing judgment
on fighters in the area. There are fighters who have been doing this for twenty years or more and they may take exception to somebody new
voicing their opinion on things such as how they fight or who they fight.
Remember if you are going to critisize be ready to get it right back.

Alec Kohut recently joined the staff of MaxBoxing.com, one of the better boxing websites in the world. This is the first of a series that he is doing on boxers who may be next in line for title shots. These are not just Beltway Boxers, they may be boxers around the world.

He is a big fan and any press for a boxer is good.

I bet he never even laced up a pair of gloves or been in a fight

To tell you the truth, neither have I. The majority of boxing writers in the country probably never have. That has never been a prerequisite.

That's why we ask questions. That's our job. I don't and never have considered myself a technical expert on this sport. But I have learned enough to be successful at this moment.

Gary although We place value on what you say on this blog just any joe shmoe will not get the same respect, That I can assure you.It takes a long time to know this busniess and this guy is still wet behind the ears to say the least.More like he just came out of the whomb. And as far as never taking any punches maybe that is something you both should consider and possibly go to a local boxing gym for five or six months so you can at least experience a little of what it feels like to just get in shape
and maybe even strap them on for a few rounds. This I know would give you a completely new perspective on how you write things about how a boxer lives and how he trains. You might even live a few more years by shedding a few pounds and blowing those lungs out.

Kohut ,your in a heap of trouble Boy.

Never been a prerequisite?
It should be

No one has more respect for boxers than I have. That is why I try very hard to not criticize them. I believe that's why I have been successful in doing this.

I report what I see and the news that's out there. I have been a boxing fan all my life and a reporter for more than 20 years. I think my record speaks for itself.

As far as Alec is concerned, I found out he did have a couple of amateur bouts.

I think they are allergic to working out in a gym. They just need to stick with the buffets

Mr. Sinister,
Mr. Kohut is in a heap of trouble for what? Being a journalist and writing an article? Do you spew this same kind of vitriol against all sports journalists? Seek professional help - soon.
