armenta is aginst river. armenta a tough amatuer with a 13-5 record as a pro with tough loses such as to sechew powell, yuri foreman, and mark tucker where he did well in all of them. but here he takes on a to amatuer who was #1 in the usa at 165 and has some major tournament accomplishments to his resume such as representing the usa at the 05 world championships, and seems to be on fire as a pro prospect. so looks like armenta has another tough one in front of him. but armenta will do well like he as in others hopefully so we shall see.

Hopefully George is being paid well for this one. I understand in his last one he was low balled by the promoter. They didn't give him travel money or food stipend.

so what if the guy Armenta is fighting was a great American amateur. Thats not what it used to be.

Brian,

Was travel $$ or food in the contract?

what im saying is it is a good step up for george and will look good if we wins. theres always on here looking to start an argument

Brian said...

well I tried to get it into it, and it was refused because he was in state by the matchmaker and promoter, now should that make or break the deal for the fight, NO. but not to give him gas money is ridiculous

I wish George all the luck in the world, he is a good fighter, if he tips Edwin there is no telling whats next.

How do u expect to get gas money if it's not on the contract? I agree with you, pay the kid something. But it has to be in writing. Basically your saying the contract was enforced and he was paid his correct purse and all other ageed upon money?

Brian said...

OKAY I UNDERSTAND IF IT ISN'T IN THE CONTRACT THE DON'T HAVE TO PAY........I SAID THEY DIDN'T GIVE HIM TRAVEL MONEY, AND FOR THOSE WHO ARE CHALLENGED was asked for before the contract. NOW IT WASN'T A BIG DEAL BECAUSE.

THE POINT I AM TRYING TO MAKE AND YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY MISSING IS I HOPE GEORGE GETS PAID WELL BECAUSE HE DIDNT LAST TIME.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS NOW?

AND THEY DIDN'T EXPECT TO GET GAS MONEY!!!! I WAS MAKING A REFERENCE POINT THAT THE PRIOR FIGHT PROMOTER WAS/IS CHEAP THAT WHEN HE WAS ASKED (PRIOR) TO SIGNING THE CONTRACT ABOUT GAS MONEY HE SAID NO.

NOW IF YOU CAN'T COMPREHEND IT NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU.

No Gas money? Cmon man, what was jeter the promoter?

Anonymous said...

A contract is a contract. Either the language for travel/food was in the contract or it wasn't. If it was not specifically stipulated, the promoter did nothing inappropriate. Sounds like Brian may not actually know.

I do know, the point i made was the promoter was low balling whenit came to the particulars, and for the record i do know

George is back..People need not to worry about what any professional boxer makes. This man has only fought twice in 5 years. His professional resume speaks for itself. All of these local fighters are padding there records with nobodys and they really feel that they are doing something. Rodiquez was a good amatuer fighter. So was George. Judge him after the fight not before.Oh, and by the way, amatuer boxing isn't what it use to be, and hasn't been for a long time....

The last comment was right, Armenta has fought good competition, much better than most other local fighter's. I beg to differ about the amatuer boxing, iI think these guy's are just as good if not better than at anytime. The only reason we haven't had any olympic champions is because of the way they have changed the rules.

Matter of a fact, that is an interesting thing the last poster brought up about the rules of Olympic boxing.

Since the rules have been changed so much to the point of making the amateur fight irrelevant (the way the score the fights and such)..... With that said, have the benefits of amateur boxing been washed away?? I know you still get good experience but now, you can get that same experience by just sparring different fighters from different gyms. Just don't see a reason to take amateur boxing seriously anymore. As in, trying to get to the Olympics and whatever

In my opinion George has a legit chance at beating Edwin

I just wish the fight were closer!
While I won't be in Oklahoma, my heart will be with El Gallo, and I'll be cheering him on with the help of modern technology.

Bring home a victory George, you're a gentleman and a great fighter !!

George is a good fighter. I saw him beat down Mark Tucker jaw in his last fight. He was able to bring a good fight to someone bigger outside his normal weight class and come out of the fight unscathed, but with a controversial decision loss. I know he can win this one.

Keep doing what you doing man. Down in westminister you looked like you never left the game. Do your best and much bigger things will come your way.

This is a good matchup. I just think that rodriqeuz is a risk, but this fight being at a nuetral site, George may win this.

I'm glad someone took notice of Armenta so we get to watch him on TV again. He is a great fighter.

This will indeed be a tough fight however,Armenta should win this.

Armenta it seems is the only area fighter that fights quality fights. Still this is another make or break fight it seems for him. I still feel that Armenta may shock the boxing world and beat this prospect. If he does, there will be bigger paydays ahead for him as well as being a step closer to getting what I think he wants. A shot at some ones title.
