Here's an update on the second half of this Beltway Boxing weekend -- The Saturday, June 6 Madness Boxing/Cease Fire -- Don't Smoke The Brothers and Sisters card at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in DC.
As mentioned on the most recent BATB Post-Fight Wrap-Up show, former two-time WBC Middleweight champion Keith Holmes will now battle Takoma Park, MD's Willis "The Prophet" Lockett in an eight-round contest. Holmes (40-5, 25 KO's) has not fought since losing an eight-round unanimous decision to Tito Mendoza in August of 2007 in Panama City, Panama. Lockett (12-7-5, five KO's), meanwhile, is on a two-bout winning streak, both victories coming in the opponent's home areas. Lockett stopped Larry Marks in the fourth round on April 24 in Dover, DE then followed that victory with a six-round unanimous decision win over Joe McCreedy on May 22 in Lincoln, RI.
The co-feature will be a rematch between 2000 US Olympian Clarence "Untouchable" Vinson and Providence, RI's Robert "Don't Lose" Da Luz. This bout is also scheduled for eight rounds.
Vinson and Da Luz met each other in a 10-round bout for the vacant USNBC Super Bantamweight title on June 23, 2007 at Howard University's Burr Gymnasium in Washington, DC. Vinson won the bout by unanimous decision but did not gain the title because he was over the weight limit.
Vinson (16-2, seven KO's) has not fought since the first Da Luz bout. Da Luz (12-18-2, nine KO's), meanwhile, has fought 13 times in the last two years including bouts against bantamweight and featherweight prospects Teon Kennedy, Dat Nguyen, Gary Stark, Jr. and Robert Marraquin.
More on this card as it becomes available.

My boy Gabriel Cruz of Portland Oregon is fighting on this card against Louis Curtis. You all may remember Gabe from his victory in DC over Derrik Mcfadden. Good luck and safety to all fighters on the card.
