Wilson Wins By Sixth-Round TKO; McCombs-Seal Bout Called Off!

Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson scored a sixth-round TKO over Robert Marsh last night at the "Combat Sports Challenge" at Toad's Place in Richmond, VA.

Reportedly, Wilson knocked Marsh down three times during the contest. Wilson's record is 23-6-3, 20 KO's while Marsh falls to 10-45-3, four KO's. As you may have guessed, there was a lot of urgency to put this particular bout on. I'm hearing rumors that there are big plans in store for Wilson in the very near future but in order for those plans to take place, Wilson had to have a win in this bout.

The bout between Richard McCombs and Adam Seal was called off when McCombs became ill shortly after his visit with the doctor.

I appreciate everyone who has stood behind me in my journey to a successful return.

I have said it before and I say it now, Richard McCombs is simply not a professional fighter. There is no shame in that, but for whatever reason McCombs feels he must charade as a professional boxer. McCombs obviously loves boxing, why not train amatuers? McCombs isn't ever going to win a legitimate fight, it is time he move on with his life.

Richard is a professional he may not been active as far as fighting, but he has been across this country sparring with some of the best. I put that on everything I back slim because I know when he does get back all of you hatters will be riding his Di*K. Gary was Darnell he main event Saturday?

What gives anyone the idea that Mr. McCombs is the future of DC boxing? Or that he has any future as a professional fighter, for that matter? His three rounds of professional experience that have resulted in a 1-2 record? His having been ko'd twice by fighters who have never gone on to show any professional potential? His 6 year layoff? What are you trying to return to, your 2 fight first round ko victim streak?

He is a young man with a love for the game; he needs to find a way inwhich his passion will keep him in the sport but not in the ring as fodder for guys destined to have upside down careers. I don't doubt he was throwing up on the night of the fight; I simply doubt his ability or real desire to fight.

That said, I hope you prove me wrong Mr. McCombs. . . but to do that you have to get n the ring, and for 6 years you haven't been able to get even that far.

I say, McCombs should fight Mo Better in a rematch, loser quits. Frustrating thing about McCombs, this much space is spent on him when there are actual, authentic pro fighters in the area.

I AGREE MCCOMBS VS JETER REMATCH LOSER WALKS AWAY.

Oh as for my layoff it was due to a car accident nothing else.

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight, your car accident was bad enough that it kept you from fighting for six years, but now you are 10x what you were when you were younger and healthier but still getting flattened in 1 round by inexperienced pros?

Lets be honest, fighters don't improve their chins with age and inactivity. You don't know if you have improved, you haven't been in a real fight in six years. That said, Good luck. I hope things work out for you and you can get a win or two under your belt.

As for a rematch with Jeter, what for? Tony is a nice kid, but his inactivity has eaten his career and once promising skills. Beating him, which is highly questionable, would prove what about McCombs? Jeter is not the prospect he was when he flattened Richard 6 years ago, but then again he doesn't need to be. Jeter needs to be in with professionals who can make him mo better in hurry, McCombs doesn't fit that bill.

LOL is all I can do at times on the Beltway. I put it to you this I wont be beat or stop again. And cant nobody say anything about my skills now in 2008.

This is true. Nor could they in 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003 or most of 2002 since you have chosen to not display them. But the fact that you are engaging on here is admirable. I promise to be in attendance, having bought a ticket wherever you fight in April to cheer you on. Good luck, train hard and see you in April. If that falls through, however, call it a day. Now get off the keyboard and into the gym , you got alot of work to do.

I train way before you start your day buddy.

In the past I have had calls from people who have been victims of the
"green-eye'd monster" jealousy (playa hatin').
Sadly, either, they lost their jobs, were criticized, put down, ignored
or challenged by lies. I've had calls from people who were devastated and hurt.
Other conversations have revealed how jealousy issues on the job came up
because boss and co-workers were threatened by a person's strength, skills
and business savvy.
No matter how good or how right you are, the reality is that
some people don't want to see you shine. You may have to
work harder to prove yourself because of your gender,
race, age, education, achievements, family/friends, talent,
gifts, charisma, favor, social standing or your looks.
It's not fair, but it happens.
Once you have a deeper sense of self-esteem, self- worth
and purpose, it can intimidate others...but it is also your
strength. Jealousy is a cancer that is unfortunately in our
families, workplace, church, community and schools.
Choose your battles wisely. Hold your head up high.
Don't give your power, peace, joy or destiny away to small thinking people.
Whether people are ignorant, prejudice, insecure, malicious or jealous,
you can't afford to allow them to contaminate your soul.
Others are watching to see how you cope with darkness.
Remember diamonds only sparkle because they go under pressure,
through the fire and polishing. Be like a diamond and let your light shine."
~

Hello family I hope everyone is having a great day and for some enjoying your spring break ( which I know for some is different depending on state ..smile)
Just know in order to get peace witghin your life you must first gain peace with God
Be Blessed

What is there to hate or be jealous of? 2 FIRST ROUND KO LOSSES 6 years ago to inexperienced pros who have gone on to nothing?

You are not a playa, you simply want to be, and that doesn't make it so. You pose like one but the fact is you are an inexperienced fighter, with a glass jaw, ring rust and questionable skills, if any. You don't want to fight or you would. You want the trappings of being a pro boxer but won't pay the price. Unlike you, for the past six years I go to my job, I actually show up and get paid. I don't make excuses, I don't miss professional appointments, I actually show up. That is 99% of life.

That is the 99% of the game that Jeter took out of you when he knocked you cold, you don't want to show up. You could shut up all your detractors by simply beating an actual professional fighter or by ending the charade that you engage in, but you won't do either. It appears that you have a hero's ambition and a coward's legs. I look forward to seeing you pull out in April.

I dont think your talking of the Richard McCombs I know. The kid is well mannered and hard working. from some of the comments made it sounds personal, however I like the kid he is a good fighter. I read someone questioned his skill level I recall him giving Joppy a day in hell.

Richard is solid everybody has there down falls.

Anonymous said...

Gary when is the next show?

Anonymous said...

Names not Chris, not a part of the fight game in a formal way. I am just a boxing fan and have been for a long time. I love the game and respect those that engage in it. However, I don't like pretenders.

I truly believe you should move on with your life and train kids as you had amatuer success and seem to be a good person. Simply put, it is sad to see you delude yourself. Get back in the ring if you must and I assure you I will pay to root for you. However, I have seen enough fights and fighters over the past 35 years to know how your career is headed if you pursue it. Lots of people will tell you to stick with it, you have a future just to get their share of a measly purse or prop up their fighter. I am not that guy. Guys with much better pedigrees than you didn't make it-Lattimore, Boxdale, Keely Thompson, Antonio Reese, Al Martino, Chuck Sturm, Charlamagne Jones (these guys were all active and actually won fights early on). . . if you paid attention you would know its not waiting out there for you. Name one fighter who went on to even Antonio Reese like success that was ko'd twice in his first 3 fights and then sat out for even 3 years. Name one and I am done.

If you prove me wrong by stringing together 8 or so wins, I will be the first to say I was wrong. Good luck Richard, I hope this disagreement we have resolves itself quickly and in your favor.
