Takoma Park, MD light heavyweight Willis "The Prophet" Lockett will face his toughest opponent to date when he battles "The Kosovo Kid" Elvir Muriqi in a scheduled 10-round bout on Thursday, January 31 at the Utopia Theatre in the Bronx, NY.
Lockett (10-5-4, four KO's) will be participating in his first 10-round contest and will try to bounce back from a six-round majority decision loss to Willie Williams on December 7 in Pikesville, MD.
But Lockett faces a tough task in the Yugoslavian-born, New York City based Muriqi (34-4, 21 KO's), who will also try to come back after a loss -- a 12-round majority decision defeat to former world champion Antonio Tarver on June 9 in Hartford, CT.

Willis Lockett Knew about this fight 2 weeks ago and right now he is already 90% ready. We still have 3 full weeks to go. Willis will be more than ready for this one, he will come home a winner!
The rest of his stablemates are busy next few weeks.

I will be at NY already, I have already arrainged someone else work the corner of Lawrence's. This would be good competitive fight. Who ever is in better shape or who wants it more are gonna win this one !

Willis may be in the best shape of his life, but he is fighting a far more experienced fighter who has an absolutely HUGE fan base. He will have to knock Muriqui out to get a draw in New York. Why when Lockett is fighting well and improving, does Kim chose to throw him in with someone like this is a mystery. Let the fighter continue to grow and develop and if you are goingto throw him in at the very least put him on an a level playing field. This is just plain dumb.

Willis Lockett has been fighting all of his life. He has a plenty of experiences. He has 19 pro fights. I understand he's been fighting at medium level competitions.But I know he can step it up to next level, its just him being in shape. If you remember his last 2 fights with Willie Williams, he gave away last 2 rounds and still got away with one win . The other one was majority decision lost. Big plus is that Muriqi may be little more experience than Willis is but he is not better fighter than Willis.
Better fighter will step up during the fight and pull away with the win. I truly believe willis can do it. Thank you for your concern.

Muriqui is not really as good as he showed in the tarver fight. It was Tarver who was really mediocre.
Muriqui's been in a couple memorable fights, but that doesn't necessarily make him a good fighter.
Lockett has been in there with good heavyweights and gone the distance. He actually overtrained for the two Williams fights not taking off any rest days for the last two weeks before the fights and even going running AFTER the weigh-in.
He's got a very good chance against Muriqui whose defence and chin are not all that solid.
I have to agree with Han, Muriqi isnt all that good. He got lucky with Tarver, perhaps it was the fight of his life! Willis has a real good chance of winning this one. What do you think Gary?

Let the fighter continue to grow and develope??? Willis is 31 going 32. Had 40 amateur fights 19 pro fights. How much does he needs to grow before he moves up to next level? Or should he just continue fighting at this level? I think its time he should step up make some money and go for the championship or get out of the sport. We decide to go for the money and the title. If he wins this one, we have a title fight or big money fight at Europe. I think we are heading towards the right direction. Han Kim
The two fights with Willie Williams were both tight fights. No one dominated in either fight. Both were in great shape as well. I keep hearing statements like over trained being mentioned. Conditioning is very important but, don't forget fighting is about strategy as well as will to win also. Willis makes good moves but, his attack is sometimes a little wide. Technically, he could tighten up a little but he is trouble for anyone. I wish him well and hope he pulls off a victory. Bro Chin from the honeycomb boxing gym
Muriqi will definatly knock him out before the 8th round. And then will have a rematch with Tarver in which he will knock him out also, he garunteed it.
