Salisbury, MD's Fernando Guerrero and Largo, MD's Dominic Wade have advanced to the second round of the 165-Pound Division of the US Olympic Trials in Houston, TX.
Guerrero defeated Angel Santos of Newark, NJ, 19-5 in the first-round bout this evening. Wade won by decision over Jonathan Nelson of Little Rock, AR, 26-8.
According to the bracket, Guerrero will take on Shawn Estrada of Downey, CA in the second round of the winner's bracket on Tuesday. Estrada stopped Fort Carson, CO's Zacchaeus Hardrick at 1:05 of the third round. Wade will take on Daniel Jacobs of Brooklyn, NY. Jacobs won by decision over Shawn Porter of Cuyahoga Falls, OH 30-18.
If Guerrero and Wade win their bouts Tuesday, they are scheduled to meet each other in the third round on Wednesday, August 22. The winner of that matchup would be the champion of the winner's bracket and would advance to the final round on Friday, August 25 where they would face the winner of the challenger's bracket.
