The first-round draw has been announced for the US Olympic Boxing Trials that start today in Houston, TX.
Capitol Heights, MD 119-pounder Gary Russell, Jr. will be in action during the afternoon session. Russell's first-round opponent will be Roberto Marroquin of Dallas, TX.
Both Dominic Wade of Largo, MD and Fernando Guerrero of Salisbury, MD will participate in the evening session, both in the 165-pound division. Wade's opponent will be Jonathan Nelson of Little Rock, AR while Guerrero will battle Angel Santos of Newark, NJ.
The winners will advance to the second round of the winner's bracket of the tournament. Remember, this is a double-elimination tourney. As soon as I can get info on the progress of the locals, I will pass it along.
