Any boxer that makes it to the quarterfinals of this tournament will automatically be invited to the Olympic Trials in August. The winner of the Olympic Trials in any weight class will have to compete for the right to represent the USA. There will be an "Americas" box-off where the US winners will have to box/eliminate the South America winners in any weight class. To be honest, Gary Russell, Jr. has 119 sewn and only an injury would keep him from making the Olympics. The 165 weight class is very tough. Wade will have to get pass Guerrero who is in his section of the bracket. There is tough blood there since Wade won by decision against Guerrero during the 2007 Washington, DC Golden Gloves. To get a blow by blow check out USAB's website www.usaboxing.org

i think fernando guerro will make it to the finals. he beat dominic wade in golden gloves and he beat shawn porter (embarrassingly) at midwestern trials. edwin rodriguez has much more experience than dominic. If dominic can pull it off tonight it will take a full out effort to beat edwin, i doubt he has energy left for fernando who is out for blood with the bad gg decision. i think dominic will be tough for edwin though, and i think whoever wins that bracket to the semis will take the armed forces boxer. tough draw this weight class

Gary Allen Russell will lose today. He has a tough Mexican kid to fight. Allen does not deal with presure that good. I roomed with this mexican kid last year and the kid is tough and never backs up. He also punches much harded than Gary Allen Russell. The kid beat Gary twice in 2004. He is trained by Hurto Lopez and they are one tough team to beat. I know Gary Allen Russell will lose tonight, but I still Think Gary Allen Ruseell will make a decent pro. Just look at what those Peters brothers have done and they both lost too.

Dominic Wade will beat them both on the same night. He is the best to ever come out of Washington.

so all you jealous DC,MD boys who are out here rooting for Wade to lose. YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT IT$$$$
He wins it all.

UPDATE:
Tyreisha Douglas to fight Sacred Downing (#1 114lb) today. This would be a good bout for Tyreisha. Also, Gary Russell, Jr. to enter the ring for the first time of the tournament. Fernando and Dominic TODAY. It all balls down to who wants it the most. The winner will be invited to the Olympic Trials - now this is pressure for someone. Eitherway the Beltway has a winner!!

According to USA Boxing, both Guerrero and Wade have already advanced to the Olympic Trials by getting in the quarterfinals.

You are absolutely right Gary. Both boxers have advanced to the Olympic Trials! This is great for the Beltway - 3 boxers in the Olympic Trials.

Guerrero , holds no ill will toward Wade, Wade was not judging his bout. Wade was just as much a victom of bias as Guerrero was. Guerrero was forced to send a meesage about his abilities through Wade, who is now the real victom of a bad descision. Eventually all things come full circle. In the end that stuff doesn't help anyone and can hurt them even more. "You can brag and predict, love and hate
but you ain't gonne mess with Gods plan or fate.

Gary Russell, Jr. is the best bantamweight right now. I agree. Only an injury can stop him in pursuing his Olympic dream. I heard he was disqualified for medical reasons against Ronny Rios. Is this true? If it is true, is his dream shattered at this point?

edwin rodriguez was by far the best middle weight at the nationals i was there n saw edwin against d wade fight n that was bullshit. he was a victim of bad judges and a unreliable computer point system. every one knows that amateur boxing needs a better system to score the fight. since roy jones lost the olympics they have been trying to get a better system but it just gets worst.
