The Washington-area finals of the Golden Gloves will take place on Friday, March 30 at the Greater Waldorf Jaycess Hall in Waldorf, MD. The event will be hosted by the "Don King of Southern Maryland," Bobby Magruder.
There are 20 championship bouts scheduled for the evening. Some of the boxers scheduled to participate are Dominic Wade, Dusty Harrison, Seth Mitchell, Bernard Adams and Dwayne McRae.
There will also be two featured ladies bouts scheduled for the show. Ginger Gousman takes on Shari Moten and Shante Jordan battles Tyrieshia Douglass.
Also, on Friday, April 13 there will be a regional championship card that will pit the champs from DC and Maryland against boxers from Virginia and North Carolina as well as champions from the United States Navy and Marine Corps. This will also take place in Waldorf at the Jaycees Hall.
And don't forget about the amateur show put on by Jake Smith on Saturday, April 28 at the Pikesville National Guard Armory.

How in God's name is Bobby MaGruder considered the Don King of boxing ? Bobby is only concerned with himself and how he will profit. It's not for the benifit of the kids and/or other amateur fighters its how can I make myself look good ! The only association or comparison you could offer for the two is that their both convicts that need shanked in the neck !

The nickname is a friendly one people gave Bobby back in the day because of his promotions. Don't take it that seriously!
I do not know Bobby Magruder personally, but why do folks knock people who are holding a show that allows our local boxers to perform in front of their family and friends? I checked the price of a ticket for Waldorf and was told that it was $25.00. I went to a show on Barlowe road two weeks ago and it was $20.00. I hear the show in Waldorf has live go go bands, drinks and food, ring girls and is being aired at a later date on ESPN showing all 27 bouts. Now for $5.00 more than the show on Barlowe road, it seems like you recieve so much more for the money.
I know where I will be friday night, and will be more than happt to spend $25.00 for all of that entertainment that will probably last until sometime after midnight.
The more I think about it, the person who wrote the negative comments concerning Bobby Magruder is most likely an adult whose kid,husband or daughter was unable to get on the show. You can spell and write fairly decent so you obviously have a job that pays you well enough to spend $25.00. Therefore, it has to be an extremely jealous person of people who are doing well. Don King has done wonders for people, he has helped poor people for as long as I can remember and you take time out to knok a guy like that. You must be a very miserable person. I would be willing to bet that you are someone who has something negative to say about everyone. Your own family knows how jealous you are about others doing better than you. I would tell you to give Bobby Magruder and Don king a break but like I said, you probably talk bad about everyone.
You started your sentence off with "How in God's name.....) Do you even believe in a God? I doubt it, people who believe in the Lord never say such things about others, especially the part about sticking a shank in another human being. You probably even purchased a ringside seat to see the show.
Wouldn't surprise me if you start saying negative things about the boxers next. By the way, did you know that the person who started this website knows exactly who you are. Ofcourse he will not say anything to you, but trust me, he knows your e mail address. Try being happy and saying nice things about people, and I promise you will feel so much better. You might even sleep better at night. Try it, I did and it works. I too used to be jealous of people doing good, I admit it. I lost sleep too just like you have been doing. Do yourself a favor, think about your life and how to better yourself and stop wasting time worrying about what everyone else is doing.

I attend that show every year. I must tell you, I would pay $100.00 a ticket if that was the cost.

It might be someone whose young one has already lost in the tournament. They probably think their kid really won. some people think their kid nevr lost ever after receiveing 3 standing 8 counts. DAMN SHAME!
Or it could be somone who really doesn't like bobby Magruder even a little bit.

hi this so called great don king of boxing bobby magruder was a child molester back in the 80s and charges on him will be filed very soon in prince georges county where it happen at this should do alot for his company when this gets out on the street
