The final Beltway-area card of 2019 will take place on Saturday, December 14th at Tyson's Playground in Vienna, VA. The card will have a number of solid out-of-town prospects but very little local talent will be featured on this TAC Promotions show. These are the boxers slated to be on the show. No opponents have been listed.
So far, the only local boxers slated to be on this card will be Greenbelt, MD cruiserweight "The Vanilla Gorilla" Sam Crossed and Washington, DC welterweight Taurean Venable. Crossed (8-0, five KO's) last fought in December of 2018 and won a tough six-round split decision over Twon Smith in DC. Venable (0-1) lost his pro debut by first-round knockout against Jonathan Conde on May 18th in DC. Heavyweight Mike Balogun was originally slated to be on this card but he is no longer on the show.
Undefeated Brooklyn, NY super welterweight "The Brooklyn Torch" Justin Biggs is slated to headline the show. Biggs (7-0, six KO's) is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision win over Norberto Gonzalez on August 23rd in Duluth, GA. The win earned Biggs the WBF Silver International Super Welterweight championship.
Welterweight Michael "Slick" Anderson of East Orange, NJ will be a six-round contest. Anderson (17-3-1, 12 KO's) looks to bounce back from a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Greg Vendetti on July 12th in Everett, MA for the vacant IBA Super Welterweight championship. Anderson makes his second trip to Tyson's Playground. In his last outing, Anderson defeated Juan Rodriguez by six-round unanimous decision on December 15th of 2018.
Another welterweight, Sean Charleston of Riverdale, GA, will be in a six-round bout as well. Charleston (4-0, four KO's) comes off a second-round TKO win over Lashawn Alcocks on August 23rd in Duluth, GA.
Bridgetown, Barbados super welterweight Keithland King makes his United States debut on this show. King (3-0, three KO's) has fought the bulk of his career in Georgetown, Guyana. King, a native of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, will be in a four-round encounter.
Raleigh, NC welterweight Damon Towns will be in a four-round contest. Towns (2-0, two KO's) makes his second straight trip to Tyson's Playground. Towns scored a first-round TKO over Terrence Brown on April 27th.
Light heavyweight "The Notorious" Travis Peterkin of Brooklyn, NY will be in a four-round contest. Peterkin (16-1-1, seven KOs) has not fought since September of 2016 when he lost by fifth-round TKO loss to Radivoje Kalajdzic in Miami, OK. Peterkin's last victory came against Larry Pryor in March of 2016 in New York City. Peterkin won by eight-round unanimous decision.

Dezurn Returns For Six-Rounder in Kentucky!
Baltimore, MD super bantamweight Glenn Dezurn returns to Hits 55 in Covington, KY Saturday, December 14th for a six-round contest against Michael Gaxiola of Modesto, CA.
Dezurn (10-2-1, seven KO's) scored a first-round TKO against Juan Bryand at Hits 55 on Sept 21st. The win broke a two-bout losing streak. Gaxiola (4-18) will be looking to break a 15-bout losing streak. The card will be shown on the FITE TV App.

Joe Jones weighed in at 197 pounds for his eight-round contest against Richard Rivera Friday at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA. Rivera came in at 191 1/2 pounds. The bout will be shown on NESN.
USA Elite and Youth Nationals And Junior Open Also Held In Lake Charles!
The Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, LA has been the place to be for amateur boxing. Not only are the Olympic Trials being held there, but so is the 2019 USA Boxing Elite & Youth National Championships and Junior Open. A number of amateurs from the Beltway are also involved and have been successful.
Washington, DC's Maximus Garland has advanced to the next round of the Youth Male 141-Pound bracket with a unanimous decision win over Cain Sandoval of Sacramento, CA. Also advancing in the same bracket was DC's Quincey Williams who won a split decision over Rolyn Nez of Farmington, MN.

Beltway Boxers Compete At 2020 US Olympic Team Trials In Louisiana!
A group of local amateurs will be competing for a spot on the 2020 United States Olympic team this week in Lake Charles, LA.
The first day of competition took place Monday and Alexandria, VA middleweight Troy Isley began his journey with a unanimous decision win over Alex Chisolm of Hialeah Gardens, FL. Isley is the top seed in the Middleweight Division.
Kelvin Davis, the brother of Keyshawn Davis of Alexandria won his bout at 152 pounds, defeating Victor Aranda of El Paso, TX by a 3-2 score. Keyshawn Davis, who is the top seed at 138 pounds, won his bout with a 4-1 decision over Marcell Davidson of Shawnee, KS.
Other locals scheduled to compete include Amelia Moore of Alexandria and Nasheed Smith of Washington, DC.

Breedy Scores Sixth-Round TKO; Aleem Loses Majority Decision In Brooklyn!
Hyattsville, MD featherweight Cobia "The Soldier" Breedy won by sixth-round TKO over Titus Williams of Long Island, NY. This was the final bout of the evening at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York to close the Jermall Charlo vs. Dennis Hogan card.
The two men had a busy opening round. Breedy throwing the most punches with Williams being the more accurate of the two. Breedy shifted gears and took charge in the second-round to hurt Titus on a number of occasions. Williams bounced back in the third-round to land some good shots on Breedy to hurt him in the final minute of the round. Breedy gathered himself to box very well in the fourth-round having Williams to be more of a defensive fighter.
Williams turned things around when he sent Breedy to the canvas for an eight-count in round five. Breedy recovered and held on to complete the round. Breedy came back strong after recovering from the knockdown by dropping Williams late in the sixth-round and the bout was stopped by the referee at 2:16 of the round.
Breedy improved to (15-0, 5 KO's) while Williams suffers the third loss of his career and falls to (9-3, 4 KO's).
Richmond, VA middleweight "The Chosen One" Immanuwel Aleem (left) lost by ten-round majority decision to Ronald "Akeem" Ellis of Lynn, MA. The bout was aired live on the Showtime Boxing YouTube channel.
Aleem came out in the opening using his jab while moving around the ring to adjust to Ellis's reach advantage. Ellis closed the distance to finish the round by going toe to toe with Aleem. Ellis turned up the pace in the next couple of rounds by being the more active fighter while Aleem didn't add any offensive pressure to slow down Ellis. Aleem did a better job in the fifth-round as he stepped up his punch count to pressure Ellis. Ellis changed from using his jab to moving in close to start an inside battle with Aleem. Aleem tried to be more offensive-minded in the last three rounds of the bout by throwing more punches but wasn't able to land that fight-ending shot to get the knockout victory. One judge scored the contest a 95-95 draw but was overruled by the other two judges with the scores of 97-93, 98-92 for Ellis.
Aleem falls to (18-2-2, 11 KO's) while Ellis improves to (17-1-2, 11 KO's).

Brown won by shutout scores of 80-72 across the board. Brown remains undefeated at 10-0, six KO's while Da Silva falls to 17-14, six KO's.
Manassas, VA super welterweight Joan Planas won his pro debut by third-round TKO over Gladimir Jacinto of Fresno, CA by way of Port Au-Prince, Haiti. Planas knocked Jacinto down twice in the second round. In the third, Planas stepped up his work and the bout was stopped at 2:02 of the third. Jacinto was also making his pro debut.

Fox, Bates, Ferhadi Victorious; Pllana Battles To Draw In Philadelphia!
Overall, a good night for Beltway Boxers on Friday at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. In the main event, Forestville, MD welterweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox put on another solid boxing performance winning an eight-round unanimous decision over Johnny Arellano of Austin, TX. Although Arellano came the closest to matching Fox's 6'4" height (Arellano is 6'2"), he couldn't match Fox's foot speed and boxing ability. Fox was able to knock Arellano down in the fifth round with a sneaky left hook to the body and right to the head. Fox would go on to the relatively easy win, gaining the victory by scores of 78-73 and 80-71 (twice). Fox, who is ranked 14th in the world by the IBF and 15th by the WBA, is now 22-1, five KO's while Arellano drops to 10-2, nine KO's.
In the co-feature, Hagerstown, MD super middleweight "The Sexy Albanian" Genc Pllana and Kalvin "Hot Sauce" Henderson of Fayetteville, AR battled to an eight-round draw. Pllana's unorthodox style paid dividends against the undefeated Henderson as he was able to land shots continuously from distance. However, while one judge scored the bout for Pllana, 79-73, the two other judges somehow scored the bout a draw at 76-76. Pllana is now 7-1-1, four KO's. Henderson is now 12-0-1, eight KO's.

Pedroza got right back up and finished the bout. Bates would win by scores of 80-71 (twice) and 78-73. Bates, who is ranked 10th in the world by the WBA, is now 11-1-1, eight KO's while Pedroza falls to 13-9-2, seven KO's.

Ferhadi knocked down Baccus with a double left jab in the third round and was able to stop Baccus on his feet in the fifth to gain the victory. The bout was stopped at 1:45 of the fifth. Ferhadi remains undefeated at 8-0, seven KO's and gains his first win against an over-.500 boxer. Baccus is stopped for the first time in his career and he is now 4-1-1, three KO's.

Ballard And Falcao Battle To Draw In Costa Mesa; NABF Middleweight Title Remains Vacant!
There is still no NABF Middleweight champion. Temple Hills, MD's D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard and Yamaguchi Falcao of Sao Paolo, Brazil battled to a 10-round majority draw Thursday night at the Hangar in Costa Mesa, CA. The bout was shown on DAZN and on Facebook Watch Live.
According to reports, Ballard threw the harder punches but Falcao was the better boxer in the bout. One judge, Fernando Villareal, scored the bout for Ballard, 97-93 but he was overruled by judges Tiffany Clinton and Edward Hernandez, Sr., who saw the bout a draw at 95-95. Ballard's record now stands at 20-0-1, 13 KO's while Falcao is now 16-1-1, seven KO's.

Ballard Weighs 159.6 For NABF Title Bid!
D'Mitrius Ballard tipped the scales at 159.6 pounds for his 10-round contest against Yamaguchi Falcao for the vacant NABF Middleweight title on Thursday at the Hangar in Costa Mesa, CA. Falcao weighed in at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds.

December Beltway Schedule Loaded With Important Bouts!
The Beltway Boxing scene will close 2019 with some extremely important bouts. This month's schedule is absolutely loaded. Here is what we have so far:
Thursday, December 5th -- The Hanger, Costa Mesa, CA -- Undefeated Temple Hills, MD middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard will challenge Yamaguchi Falcao of Sao Paolo, Brazil for the vacant NABF Middleweight title. Ballard (20-0, 13 KO's) last fought on June 20th and suffered a no-decision against Elias Espadas in Atlantic City, NJ. Espadas suffered a laceration over his left eye due to an accidental head butt. Falcao (16-1, seven KO's) looks to bounce back from a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Christopher Pearson on May 2nd in Las Vegas, NV.
Friday, December 6th -- 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, PA -- A quartet of Beltway Boxers will be involved in some solid bouts on a King's Promotions card.
One local boxer will be in the main event as world-ranked welterweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox will battle an opponent to be determined in a 10-round contest. Fox (21-1, five KO's) is ranked 15th in the world by the WBA and 14th by the IBF and is coming off a dominating 10-round unanimous decision win over Eudy Bernardo on September 14th in Bethlehem, PA. Fox won that bout by shutout on all three judge's scorecards. This will be the fourth bout for Fox this year.
Two of the co-feature bouts will showcase Beltway Boxers. "The Sexy Albanian" Genc Pllana of Hagerstown, MD will be in an eight-round bout against undefeated Kalvin "Hot Sauce" Henderson of Fayetteville, AR. Pllana (7-1, four KO's) last fought on October 24th and scored a first-round knockout over Alex Lara in Washington, DC. This will be Pllana's second eight-round encounter. The first one resulted in Pllana's only loss, a majority decision to Raphael Igbokwe on August 23rd in Houston, TX. Pllana has also been extremely busy -- this will be his seventh contest of the year.
Henderson (12-0, eight KO's) scored a third-round TKO over Antowyan Aikens on May 10th at the 2300 Arena. This will be Henderson's third straight trip to that venue.
The other eight-round co-feature will pit DC super bantamweight Marcus "Dreamcrusher" Bates against late substitute Francisco "Rayito" Pedroza of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Bates (10-1-1, eight KO's) won his last bout by eight-round unanimous decision over Saul Eduardo Hernandez on August 23rd in Houston. Bates is ranked 14th in the world by the WBA. Pedroza (13-9-2, seven KO's) will face a Beltway Boxer for the second straight time. Pedroza lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Antonio Russell on July 13th in Minneapolis, MN.
This card will also mark the return of undefeated Frederick, MD super middleweight Devar "Jengawar" Ferhadi, who will take on fellow undefeated boxer Vincent Baccus of Okmulgee, OK in a six-round bout. Ferhadi (7-0, six KO's) has not fought since August of 2016 when he knocked out Christopher Petty in the third round in Crystal City, VA. A huge opportunity has come for Upper Marlboro, MD middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox. On Saturday, December 21st. Fox will face Liam "The Machine" Williams of Clydach Vale, Wales in a WBO world title elimination contest at the Copper Box Arena in London, England. Isra Girgrah Wynn To Be Inducted Into International Women's Boxing Hall Of Fame!
Congratulations to legendary female Beltway Boxer "The Raging Beauty" Isra Girgrah Wynn who will be inducted into the 2020 International Women's Boxing Hall Of Fame.
Wynn, originally from Dubai, spent the bulk of her nine-year career (1995-2004) competing out of Maryland where she was trained by the great Adrian Davis. Wynn (28-3-2, 11 KO's) lost her pro debut by third-round TKO to 2015 Hall of Fame Inductee Deidre Gogarty in February 1995 in Cut Off, LA. Wynn would win her next six bouts before battling Andrea Deshong to a four-round draw in October 1996 at the Washington Hilton Hotel and Towers in DC.
Four bouts later, Wynn would face the toughest foe on her record, the legendary Christy Martin on August 23, 1997, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Wynn would drop a close eight-round unanimous decision. Wynn would score three more victories before suffering her final loss, a four-round unanimous decision to Marischa Sjauw in October of 1999 in Las Vegas, NV.
Wynn would win her final 16 bouts, defeating the likes of Tracy Byrd, Laura Serrano, Melissa Del Valle, and Jo Wyman while capturing four world titles along the way. Wynn finished her career with a six-round unanimous decision over Carla Witherspoon on March 27th, 2004 at the Lincoln Theatre in DC.
In 2009, Wynn achieved the honor of being the first female boxer to be inducted into the Washington, DC Boxing Hall of Fame (joining this reporter in the 2009 class). Post boxing, Wynn and her husband, Marty, have forged successful careers as entrepreneurs.
The 2020 International Women's Boxing Hall Of Fame ceremony will take place on August 29th at The Orleans Hotel And Casino in Las Vegas.

Beltway Boxers Give Solid Performances In Glen Burnie!
A host of local prizefighters gave winning performances in front of a packed house at La Fontaine Bleue in Glen Burnie, MD on Saturday, November 16th. This card was promoted by Shabazz Brotherz.
In the main event, highly-touted Baltimore, MD middleweight prospect Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson won a relatively-easy six-round unanimous decision over Delvecchio "Del Chapo" Savage of Tuscaloosa, AL. Simpson, who went a full six rounds for the first time in his career, was able to effectively use his right hand as his jab and lead right hand, keeping Savage off-balance. In the third round, Simpson landed solid lefts and rights against Savage's head and body that almost made referee Kenny Chevalier stop the contest but Savage was able to survive. Simpson maintained his effectiveness throughout the second half of the contest and earned the victory. All three judges (David Braslow, Eric Irizarry and Steve Rados) scored a shutout for Simpson, 60-52. Simpson remains undefeated at 6-0, four KO's. Savage falls to 3-5-1, three KO's.
The co-feature saw Baltimore-based cruiserweight "The Silent Assassin" Muhsin Cason win a six-round unanimous decision over a very game Montez "Bigg Mixx" Brown of Virginia Beach, VA. Cason, the younger brother of former Undisputed Heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, Sr. and a Prince Ranch Boxing, spent the first round trying to trap the speedy Brown, who seemed to be wary of Cason's power.
That power came to the forefront in the second round when Cason landed a big right hand over the top that dropped Brown in the first minute. Later in the round, Cason would throw a straight left hand that put Brown on the canvas for the second time. To his credit, Brown would recover from the two knockdowns and land solid shots against Cason throughout the second half of the contest. The early advantage Cason earned with the knockdowns proved to be the difference in winning the bout. Judges Rados and Kenny Chevalier scored the bout, 59-53 while judge Irizarry saw the contest, 58-54 for Cason, who is now 6-0, three KO's. Brown loses his second straight contest and is now 8-2, six KO's.
The card had successful pro debuts for two of the Avelar Brothers of Germantown, MD. The youngest of the three brothers, super lightweight Wilfredo, won a four-round unanimous decision over Zaymar Brothers of Philadelphia, PA. The 19-year-old Avelar used a combination of pressure offense and slick defense to gain the victory. Brothers stayed on the outside throughout the contest and did not exchange with Avelar, who was able to gain a shutout victory on the cards, 40-36. Brothers's record dips to 0-1-1.
Middle brother Brian Avelar, a welterweight, also won a four-round shutout victory over the equally debuting Laquan "Six Shooter" Jones of Philadelphia. The 21-year-old Avelar chased Jones for the bulk of the bout, landing shots to the head and body. The continuous pressure would lead to an easy win as all three judges (Braslow, Chevalier, and Rados) saw the bout 40-36. The oldest brother, 23-year-old Tommy Avelar, was scheduled to be on the card but his bout was scratched.
In female action, Baltimore super lightweight "Lady Tyson" Destiny Day-Owens won a four-round unanimous decision over Dasha "Champ Queen" Ragland of Harrisburg, PA. Day-Owens was able to use her right hand effectively to keep Ragland at bay throughout the contest. All three judges (Brent Bovell, Irizarry, and Rados) saw a 40-36 shutout for Day-Owens, who is now 2-0. Ragland is 0-2.
Stone Mountain, GA middleweight Maurice "MGIII" Winslow survived an early knockdown to win a four-round unanimous decision over Dewayne "The Beast" Williams of Philadelphia. The bout was mostly a tangle fest as the two boxers fell into numerous clinches. In the first round, Williams gained an early advantage when he landed a straight left hand that dropped Winslow against the ropes.
The second-round saw Williams lose the advantage he gained when referee David Braslow took a point away for unsportsmanlike conduct after Williams bumped Winslow at the end of the round. Williams would also lose a point in the fourth round for holding. That, combined with Winslow's increasing offensive output, would tip the judge's scorecards in favor of Winslow. All three judges (Bovell, Irizarry, and Rados) saw the bout 38-35. Winslow's record improves to 3-1, two KO's while the Williams record falls to 1-2-1.
The opening contest was the only one that did not go the distance as super welterweight Shinard Bunch of Trenton, NJ scored a first-round TKO over Alberto Delgado of Roanoke, VA. Bunch would throw a wicked straight left hand that send Delgado crashing to the canvas. Delgado would beat Kenny Chevalier's count but the ringside physicians decided that Delgado could not continue. The bout was stopped at 2:06 of the round. Bunch is now 4-1, four KO's. Delgado drops to 1-9-4, one KO.
The matchmaker for the card was "The Boxing Diva" Renee Aiken. Henry "Discombobulating" Jones was the ring announcer.

Marin Challenges Buthelezi For IBO Super Fly Title December 16th In South Africa!
Undefeated Bethesda, MD super flyweight Alexandru "Spartan" Marin will face his biggest challenge to date when he takes on International Boxing Organization Super Flyweight champion Gideon Buthelezi of Boipatong, Gauteng, South Africa on Monday, December 16th in South Africa.
Marin (18-0, 11 KO's) is the reigning IBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight champion and is the mandatory challenger for Buthelezi (22-5, five KO's). Marin, a native of Iasi, Romania, is also ranked third by the IBF and fourth by the WBO. Marin successfully defended his title with a 10-round unanimous decision win over Luis Concepcion on May 11th in Fairfax, VA. Marin will have a legendary addition to his corner as International Boxing Hall Of Fame boxer and trainer Buddy McGirt will join longtime trainer Bruce Babashan and cutman James Hogan in the corner.
Buthelezi is on his second reign as IBO champion and has held the belt since December of 2015. This will be the sixth defense of his title. Last time out, Buthelezi made short work of Adrian Jimenez, knocking him out in the first round on July 27th in East London, South Africa.

Dyer Suffers Third-Round TKO In Maine!
Baltimore, MD lightweight Jahmal Dyer lost by third-round TKO to the undefeated "Silent Assassin" William Foster III of New Haven, CT on Saturday, November 9th at the Expo Center in Portland, ME.
According to Mark Vaz of Fightnews.com, seconds into the first round, Dyer landed a clean left hook to the temple that briefly rocked Foster, who looked clearly hurt. It did not take long for Foster to regroup, however, as he soon found his range, picking his spots and winning the round.
Taking over in the second, Foster used hand speed and combination punching, punctuated by a fast, clean left hook he was able to land at will throughout. After a warning for a few low blows, referee Mike Ryan deducted a point from Foster, evening the round on the scorecards.
In the third round, however, Foster came out with a vengeance, picking Dyer apart, landing to the head and body, eventually finding his way through the defense and hurting Dyer, eventually sending him to the canvas with a barrage of clean punches. Referee Ryan called a halt to the bout at 2:55.
Dyer's record falls to 9-3, five KO's while Foster remains undefeated at 11-0, eight KO's.

Roach, Jr. Loses World Title Bid By Unanimous Decision in Fresno!
Upper Marlboro, MD super featherweight Lamont Roach, Jr. lost his bid to win a world title, dropping a unanimous decision to WBO Super Featherweight champion Jamel "Semper Fi" Herring of Cincinnati, OH on Saturday at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA. The bout was shown on ESPN +.
According to reports, Herring was very effective with a stiff right jab early in the bout that didn't allow Roach, Jr. to get off his own punches. Roach, Jr. tried to pick up the pace in the middle rounds but he was being warned by referee Marcos Rosales for rabbit punches behind the head.
According to Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com, Herring was denied a knockdown in the ninth round when he landed a sweeping right hook. Roach, Jr.'s feet briefly tangled with Herring's at that moment and referee Rosales ruled a slip.
Roach nearly claimed a game-changer in the championship rounds. Herring was sliding backward but failed to keep the challenger at bay. Roach took advantage of the sequence, smothering the defending titlist on the inside and landing a looping right hand just behind Herring's ear, leaving him briefly unsteady but managing to clinch and make it to the bell. Herring would win the bout by scores of 115-113 and 117-111 (twice).

Beltway Boxers To Make Voyage to Philadelphia December 6th!
A quartet of Beltway Boxers will head to the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, December 6th for some solid bouts on a King's Promotions card.
One local boxer will be in the main event as world-ranked welterweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox will battle an opponent to be determined in a 10-round contest. Fox (21-1, five KO's) is ranked 15th in the world by the WBA and is coming off a dominating 10-round unanimous decision win over Eudy Bernardo on September 14th in Bethlehem, PA. Fox won that bout by shutout on all three judge's scorecards. This will be the fourth bout for Fox this year.
Two of the co-feature bouts will showcase Beltway Boxers. "The Sexy Albanian" Genc Pllana of Hagerstown, MD will be in an eight-round bout against undefeated Kalvin "Hot Sauce" Henderson of Fayetteville, AR. Pllana (7-1, four KO's) last fought on October 24th and scored a first-round knockout over Alex Lara in Washington, DC. This will be Pllana's second eight-round encounter. The first one resulted in Pllana's only loss, a majority decision to Raphael Igbokwe on August 23rd in Houston, TX. Pllana has also been extremely busy -- this will be his seventh contest of the year.
Henderson (12-0, eight KO's) scored a third-round TKO over Antowyan Aikens on May 10th at the 2300 Arena. This will be Henderson's third straight trip to that venue.
The other eight-round co-feature will pit DC super bantamweight Marcus "Dreamcrusher" Bates against veteran Jesus "Sargento" Martinez of Hollywood, FL by way of Colombia. Bates (10-1-1, eight KO's) won his last bout by eight-round unanimous decision over Saul Eduardo Hernandez on August 23rd in Houston. Bates is ranked 14th in the world by the WBA. Martinez (26-10, 13 KO's) has lost two straight and four of his last five contests. Martinez was stopped in the fifth round by TJ Doheny on October 12th in Chicago, IL.

Roach, Jr. Makes Weight For Title Bid In Fresno!

The bout will be the main event on a Top Rank promoted card that will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Beltway Boxers Shine In Oxon Hill!
Saturday night's TGB Promotions card at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD proved to be a positive night for Beltway Boxers. Six locals competed, six locals won.
The Undefeated Russell Brothers of Capitol Heights, MD put on dominating performances en route to knockout victories. Super lightweight Antuanne "The Last" Russell kept his perfect record intact with a crushing second-round knockout of Juan Huertas of Panama City, Panama. The bout was shown on FS2. Russell went to work quickly and battered the overmatched Huertas. In the second, Russell's continued punishment dropped Huertas to one knee. Huertas could not beat referee Bill Clancy's ten-count and the bout was stopped at 40 seconds. Russell is now 12-0, 12 KO's. Huertas is 14-2-1, 10 KO's.
Bantamweight Antonio "Another" Russell made short work of Samuel Gutierrez of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Russell landed a wicked overhead right to drop Gutierrez to the canvas.
Referee Kenny Chevalier stopped the bout at 2:01 of the first round. Russell remains undefeated at 16-0, 12 KO's. Gutierrez falls to 16-26-6, six KO's.
In another bout that made the FS2 telecast, Washington, DC super lightweight Shyngyskhan Tazhibay won a four-round unanimous decision over Nicolas Atillo Velasquez of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tazhibay, a native of Kazakhstan, used a solid fundamental attack to earn the deserved victory. Scores were not given but all three judges were in agreement. Tazhibay remains undefeated at 9-0, two KO's. Velasquez is now 11-7, three KO's.
Glenarden, MD lightweight Drayvontay Speed Rawls captured an eight-round unanimous decision over Wanzell "Venom" Ellison of Newark, NJ. The two men traded blows throughout the bout. However, Speed Rawls was able to avoid some of Ellison's punches as the bout went into the later rounds. Ellison landed an accidental low blow in the fourth round but was not penalized. All three judges scored the bout 79-72 for Speed Rawls, who is now 13-1-1, eight KO's. Ellison falls to 11-2-1, five KO's.
Hyattsville, MD super lightweight Patrick "YG Pat" Harris pummeled Joaquim Carneiro of Ceara, Brazil for six rounds en route to a technical knockout. Harris landed seemingly every punch in the book as Carneiro resembled a punching bag with feet. Finally, referee Kenny Chevalier stopped the contest at 25 seconds of the sixth. Harris's record rises to 18-0, eight KO's. Carneiro drops to 25-12, 23 KO's.
Super lightweight Tyrek "I.G.B. Irby of Landover, MD remained undefeated with an eight-round unanimous decision over a very game Joaquin Chavez of Los Angeles, CA. Irby took early control of the bout, landing left hooks to drop Chavez in the first and second rounds. The early deficit on the scorecards was too much for Chavez to overcome and Irby went on to win by scores of 78-72 and 79-73 twice. Irby is now 9-0, three KO's while Chavez falls to 9-19-4, two KO's.

In the co-feature bout, Javier Fortuna of La Roma, Dominican Republic put on a dominating performance on the way to stopping Jesus Cuellar of Buenos Aires, Argentina in the second round. This battle of former world super featherweight champions was a relatively easy one for Fortuna as he dropped Cuellar twice, the first was in the first round. The two men threw rights at the same time. Fortune's right landed flush and dropped Cuellar. In the second, Fortuna sent a left-right combination to Cuellar's head to knock him back down. Another quick flurry forced referee Bill Clancy to stop the bout at 2:01 of the second. Fortuna captured the WBC Continental Americas Lightweight title and raises his record to 35-2-1, 24 KO's. Cuellar drops to 29-4, 22 KO's.
David O. Morrell, Jr., a light heavyweight from Santa Clara, Cuba, stopped Quentin Rankin of Charlotte, NC in the second round. Morrell, who was competing in a scheduled eight-round encounter after only one previous pro bout, did damage early with a strong offensive attack that led to a vicious body shot that stopped Rankin in his tracks. Referee David Braslow stopped the bout at 1:01 of the round. Morrell is 2-0, two KO's. Rankin is now 15-7-2, 12 KO's.
Brehan, TX welterweight "Cowboy" Ryan Karl won by fifth-round technical decision when his opponent, Berman "Snake" Aguilar of San Jose, Costa Rica. Aguilar gained the early advantage in the bout, knocking down Karl with an overhand right in the first round. However, in setting up that punch, Aguilar hurt his left hand and the hand got progressively worse during the bout. Referee Bill Clancy, on the advice of the ringside doctors, stopped the contest at the end of the fifth round. Karl raised his record to 18-2, 12 KO's. Aguilar falls to 15-6-1, five KO's.
Undefeated welterweight Anthony "ATV" Velasquez scored a seventh-round TKO over Michael "The Hammer" Crain of Smyrna, DE. Velasquez stayed poised and disciplined throughout the contest as he controlled the action with solid head and body shots. Crain attempted to mount an offensive attack but he was overwhelmed by Velasquez's onslaught. Referee David Braslow stopped the bout at 1:59 seconds of the seventh round to remain perfect at 8-0, eight KO's. Crain falls to 3-4, one KO.
Philadelphia, PA super welterweight Paul Kroll scored a 4th round TKO over Farhad Fatulla of Baku, Azerbaijan. Kroll knocked down Fatulla twice during the bout before it was stopped by referee David Braslow at 2:05 of the fourth round. Kroll is 6-0, five KO's while Fatulla is 1-4.
In the walkout bout, Ranfis Encarnacion of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic scored an easy first-round knockout over Emmanuel Dominguez of Aguascalientes, Mexico. Encarnacion used a great left-right combination to drop Dominguez for the count. The bout ended at 59 seconds. Encarnacion is still undefeated at 17-0, 13 KO's. Dominguez falls to 24-9-2, 16 KO's.

Warren Scores Second-Round TKO In Las Vegas!
Baltimore, MD super featherweight Malik "The King" Warren made a demonstrative Mayweather Promotions debut by scoring a second-round TKO over the debuting Shauncy Perry of Jonesboro, AK at the Sam's Town and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, NV.
Warren, who signed with Mayweather Promotions in mid-October, knocked down Perry three times during the bout. The first knockdown came from a wicked left hook in the first round. During the second round, Warren dropped Perry with head and body shots before the bout was stopped at 1:09. Warren is now 2-0 with two KO's,

Update On November 2nd Card In Oxon Hill, MD!
A few updates on the TGB Promotions card that will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.
Undefeated Capitol Heights, MD bantamweight Antonio "Another" Russell now has an opponent for his 10-round bout. Russell (15-0, 11 KO's) will take on veteran Samuel "Panterita" Gutierrez of Saltillo, Mexico (16-25-6, six KO's). Gutierrez is winless in his last six contests, including an eight-round unanimous decision loss to Shawn Simpson on August 31st in Minneapolis, MN. This will be the second trip to the Beltway for Gutierrez -- he lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Dylan Price on July 27th in Baltimore, MD.
By the way, the bout for Antuanne "The Last" Russell against Juan Huertas is scheduled for 10 rounds -- the first time he has competed in a scheduled 10-round bout.
"Y.G. Pat" Patrick Harris, an undefeated super lightweight from Hyattsville, MD, has a change in his opponent for his eight-round encounter. Harris (17-0, eight KO's) will now face Joaquim Carneiro of Sao Paolo, Brazil (25-11, 23 KO's). Carneiro looks to bounce back from his fifth-round TKO loss to Ivan Golub on August 1st in Monroeville, PA.
We are also hearing that undefeated DC welterweight Shyngyskhan Tazhibay (8-0, two KO's) has been added to this card. No word yet on Tazhibay's opponent but this will be the first action for the native of Kazakhstan since October 27th of 2018 when he defeated Juan Rodriguez by six-round unanimous decision in Fort Washington, MD. Also, according to BoxRec.com, featherweight Cobia "The Soldier" Breedy of Hyattsville, MD is no longer on the card.
The main event bout between WBA Super Featherweight champions as Javier "El Abejon" Fortuna of Braintree, MA by way of the Dominican Republic will challenge Jesus "El Jinete" Cuellar of Buenos Aires, Argentina will be a 10-round encounter for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Lightweight title.
The co-feature bout will be a 10-round encounter between interim WBA Super Welterweight champion Brian Carlos "El Boxi" Castano of Isidro Casanova, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso of Los Angeles, CA by way of Lagos, Nigeria. Castano (15-0-1, 11 KO's) comes off a 12-round split decision draw against Erislandy Lara on March 2nd in Brooklyn, NY. Omotoso (28-4, 22 KO's) last fought Curtis Stevens and knocked him out in the third round on August 3rd in Brooklyn.

Houston, TX welterweight "Cowboy" Ryan Karl will be in a 10-round bout against Bergman "The Snake" Aguilar of San Jose, Costa Rica by way of Nicaragua. Karl (17-2, 11 KO's) scored a first-round knockout over David Morales on June 29th in Houston. Karl has a victory over a Beltway Boxer, winning an eight-round unanimous decision over Kareem Martin in Flint, MI in November of 2017. The main event bout between WBA Super Featherweight champions as Javier "El Abejon" Fortuna of Braintree, MA by way of the Dominican Republic will challenge Jesus "El Jinete" Cuellar of Buenos Aires, Argentina will be a 10-round encounter for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Lightweight title.
The co-feature bout will be a 10-round encounter between interim WBA Super Welterweight champion Brian Carlos "El Boxi" Castano of Isidro Casanova, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso of Los Angeles, CA by way of Lagos, Nigeria. Castano (15-0-1, 11 KO's) comes off a 12-round split decision draw against Erislandy Lara on March 2nd in Brooklyn, NY. Late Result: Rodriguez Loses Unanimous Decision In Philadelphia!
Haymarket, VA welterweight Juan De La Cruz Rodriguez lost a four-round unanimous decision to James Martin of Philadelphia, PA on Friday, October 25th at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
Rodriguez managed to knock down Martin in the first round. However, Martin was able to right the ship and won the decision by scores of 39-37 and 38-37 twice. Rodriguez falls to 8-16-1, six KO's. Martin is now 5-1.

Alantez Fox Wins Unanimous Decision In Puerto Rico!

Upper Marlboro, MD middleweight contender Alantez "SlyAza" Fox won an eight-round unanimous decision over Bruno Leonardo Romay of Buenos Aires, Argentina Saturday during the World Boxing Organization's Night of Champions event at the Rubén Zayas Montañez Coliseum in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.
Fox, who is ranked second in the world by the WBO, won his bout by scores of 80-71 and 79-72 (twice). Fox is now 26-1-1, 12 KO's. Romay falls to 21-8, 18 KO's.

Davis Challenges Gamboa For WBA 'Regular' Lightweight Title December 28th in Atlanta!
Former two-division world champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis of Baltimore, MD will vie for his third world title in his third weight class when he faces former three-division titleholder "El Ciclon De Guantanamo" Yuriorkis Gamboa of Miami, FL by way of Guantanamo, Cuba on Saturday, December 28th at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA. The two will vie for the WBA Regular Lightweight title and the bout will be the main event contest shown on Showtime.
The two men fought their last bouts on the same card -- July 27th at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. Davis (22-0, 21 KO's) scored a second-round TKO over Ricardo Nunez in his first title defense (of the WBA Super Featherweight championship) at home. Gamboa (30-2, 18 KO's) also knocked out his opponent -- Roman Martinez -- in the second round. Davis and Gamboa are ranked one and two, in the most recent WBA rankings. The winner of this contest may get an opportunity against Unified Lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.

Washington, DC super featherweight "The Dark Menace" Tiara Brown successfully defended her NABO Super Featherweight championship with an eight-round majority decision over Vanessa Bradford of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Thursday at the Generoso Pope Athletic Complex on the campus of St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY.
Brown won by scores of 76-76, 77-75, 79-73 to remain undefeated at 9-0, six KO's. Bradford is now 5-2-2.

Beltway Boxers Appear En Masse On November 2nd Card at MGM National Harbor Casino!
A host of local boxers will be a part of the TGB Promotions card that will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.
The local parade is being led by the Undefeated Russell Brothers, Antonio, and Antuanne who will compete in either eight or 10-round bouts. Super lightweight Antuanne will risk his perfect record (11-0, 11 KO's) against Juan "El General" Huertas of 24 de Diciembre, Panama. Russell comes off a first-round knockout win over Luis Ronaldo Castillo on September 21st in Bakersfield, CA. Huertas (14-2-1, 10 KO's) makes his US debut on this card and he is winless in his last two bouts, including a third-round knockout over Jon Fernandez on April 20th in Guecho, Spain.

Nicholson Wins Unanimous Decision; Kelly Knocks Out Kisner in Hanover!
Here are the results from the Jeter Promotions card held Friday night in front of a packed house at Live! Casino in Hanover, MD. The report is courtesy of Juan Marshall of ProAm Fight Talk.
Laurel, MD's Demond "D'Best At It" Nicholson defeated Devaun Lee of Jamaica, Queens, NY by unanimous decision in the main event of the Jeter Promotions card at the Live! Casino/Hotel in Hanover, MD.
Nicholson looked very strong in this bout considering having to fall out of his last scheduled appearance on the May 11th card at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA due to suffering serious kidney failure after weighing in. Nicholson landed some great counter punches that he put together after Lee's attempts to land jabs. For the first four rounds, Nicholson applied continuous hard pressure, but Lee was able to stay in the contest. Lee did a little better job of keeping his guard up to defend himself from the hard shots Nicholson landed.
Lee also was able to land some good shots to add to his defense. Both fighters turned it into a war in round six as they exchanged shots during the entire round.
In round seven, Nicholson bounced around the ring trying to time his punches. He finally stood his ground and landed a hard right hook to back Lee into the ropes where he landed more hard lefts and rights to finish the round. In the eighth and final round, Nicholson let his hands go. He put together a number of body shots throughout the entire round to close the show. All three judges scored the bout 79-73 for Nicholson.
Nicholson improves his record to 22-3-1, 20 KO's while Lee falls to 10-7-1, five KO's.
Washington, DC's Danny "Smooth" Kelly defeated Baltimore, MD's "Slick" Nick Kisner by third-round TKO in the co-feature contest on the card.
In this bout of local Beltway Boxing heavyweights, Kisner and Kelly used the opening round to feel each other out. Kelly turned things up quickly in round two by coming forward and putting more pressure on Kisner. Kelly landed a hard right hand to send Kisner to the canvas for an eight count. Kisner beat the count but Kelly came back with that same right hand to send Kisner down again. Kisner was able to finish the round but looked hurt. In round three, Kelly had Kisner in a neutral corner and landed that right hand again for the final time to drop Kisner. Referee Bill Clancy waived the contest off as soon as the shot landed at 1:04 of the third.
Kelly returns to victory after a long layoff to improve his record to 10-3-1, nine KO's while Kisner falls to 21-5-1, six KO's. Kisner announced his retirement from boxing after the contest.
In other bouts on the card, Suitland, MD featherweight "The Ambitious One" Malik Loften scored a second-round TKO over Omar Etheridge of Whiteville, NC.
Loften gained control of the first-round by slipping the shots of Etheridge and putting together some good combinations to move Etheridge into the ropes. Loften also added some hard body shots into the mix during the first.
It was much of the same in the second round but with more harder body shots. Loften went back to his combinations to send Etheridge into the ropes again. Loften put together a final combination of head and body shots to send Etheridge to the canvas. Referee Kenny Chevalier gave the count and waved the contest off at 2:20 of round two.
Loften improves his record to 4-1, two KO's while Etheridge falls to 3-2-1, three KO's.
Germantown, MD featherweight Ebrima "E Boy" Jawara defeated James "Too Slick" Early of Seat Pleasant, MD by six-round unanimous decision.

In the eighth and final round, Nicholson let his hands go. He put together a number of body shots throughout the entire round to close the show. All three judges scored the bout 79-73 for Nicholson.
Nicholson improves his record to 22-3-1, 20 KO's while Lee falls to 10-7-1, five KO's.
Washington, DC's Danny "Smooth" Kelly defeated Baltimore, MD's "Slick" Nick Kisner by third-round TKO in the co-feature contest on the card.
In this bout of local Beltway Boxing heavyweights, Kisner and Kelly used the opening round to feel each other out. Kelly turned things up quickly in round two by coming forward and putting more pressure on Kisner. Kelly landed a hard right hand to send Kisner to the canvas for an eight count. Kisner beat the count but Kelly came back with that same right hand to send Kisner down again. Kisner was able to finish the round but looked hurt. In round three, Kelly had Kisner in a neutral corner and landed that right hand again for the final time to drop Kisner. Referee Bill Clancy waived the contest off as soon as the shot landed at 1:04 of the third.
Kelly returns to victory after a long layoff to improve his record to 10-3-1, nine KO's while Kisner falls to 21-5-1, six KO's. Kisner announced his retirement from boxing after the contest.
In other bouts on the card, Suitland, MD featherweight "The Ambitious One" Malik Loften scored a second-round TKO over Omar Etheridge of Whiteville, NC.
Loften gained control of the first-round by slipping the shots of Etheridge and putting together some good combinations to move Etheridge into the ropes. Loften also added some hard body shots into the mix during the first.
It was much of the same in the second round but with more harder body shots. Loften went back to his combinations to send Etheridge into the ropes again. Loften put together a final combination of head and body shots to send Etheridge to the canvas. Referee Kenny Chevalier gave the count and waved the contest off at 2:20 of round two.
Loften improves his record to 4-1, two KO's while Etheridge falls to 3-2-1, three KO's.
Germantown, MD featherweight Ebrima "E Boy" Jawara defeated James "Too Slick" Early of Seat Pleasant, MD by six-round unanimous decision.
Jawara and Early felt each other out well in the opening round. Both fighters worked the ring well as they used their jabs to land to the head and body. In the second-round Jawara got the attention of Early as he started to deposit shots to the body. Those body shots seemed to work as Early looked to slow down as round two ended. Jawara landed a jab to the eye of Early that looked to bother him at the end of round three. Jawara added pressure but Early stayed in the battle to land some sneaky overhand rights on the chin of Jawara. In the final round, Jawara pressured Early up against the ropes. Early tried to fight Jawara off, but he landed a punch below the belt. Referee Bill Clancy took a point away from Early after being warned already for low blows. All three judges scored it the same 59-56 for Jawara.
Jawara improves his record to 3-1, one KO while Early falls to 4-5.
Clinton, MD bantamweight Jay Stancil III defeated Ransley Washington of Cincinnati, OH by four-round unanimous decision.
This was another contest of debuting fighters where the shorter Stancil started with a jab to the body as the taller Washington used his jab to find his range. Stancil's bodywork opened up an opportunity to land some nice hooks upstairs while Washington kept his jab working. In the final ten seconds of the second round, Stancil landed a hard right hand as the bell sounded. Washington continued to use a good jab that moved Stancil back during the third-round. Stancil was successful with landed good counter shots as Washington missed with his jab to finish the contest. Stancil gets his first professional win with the scores of 39-37, and 40-36 twice.
Brandon "Brody" Chambers defeated Christopher Haney by four-round unanimous decision. In this four-round lightweight rematch, Owings Mills, MD's Chambers and Haney of Glendale Heights, IL had pretty much the same fast-paced start as their first encounter. Chambers was putting out a high quantity of punches as Haney returned the same. It was in the third round when both fighters settled down and started to place their shots a little better. At the midway point of the third, it looked as if Haney landed the harder shots. Chambers came back strong in the forth-round and did some good bodywork to put Haney in defensive mode giving him the win on all three judges scorecards 40-36 and 39-37 twice.
Chambers improves to 2-0-1, one KO while Haney is still looking for his win and is now 0-4-2.
In the opening contest on the card, Blaze Fidler-Hernandez of Arnold, MD and Baltimore's Antonio Dunton-El battled to a four-round draw. Dunton-El established himself early by landing some good right and left hands that connected throughout the opening round. Hernandez put together a little offense of his own during the second round as both fighters fought evenly in the center of the ring. Hernandez looked to put himself back into the mix to even up the rounds at one apiece. Going into round three, Hernandez started throwing the heavier shots but wasn't connecting as often as he liked. In the final round, both fighters tried to close the show by equally landing clean counter punches. It was Dunton-El who landed a hard right hand to send Hernandez a little off balance. Hernandez wasn't hurt by the punch and still came back firing some good shots to the body of Dunton-El. The judges scored the bout 39-37 for Dunton El, 39-37 for Hernandez and 38-38.

Brown Defends NABO Super Featherweight Title October 24th In Brooklyn, NY!
Washington, DC super featherweight "The Dark Menace" Tiara Brown will defend her NABO Super Featherweight championship against Vanessa Bradford of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Thursday, October 24th at the Generoso Pope Athletic Complex in Brooklyn, NY.
The undefeated Brown (8-0, six KO's) won her NABO title in her last outing on May 18th in DC with a dominant six-round TKO win over Angel Gladney. Bradford (5-1-2) comes off a six-round unanimous decision over Stephanie Essensa on March 30th in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Chaney Scores Devastating Knockout In Hartford, CT!

Baltimore, MD heavyweight Cassius Chaney needed just 63 seconds to knock out Santander "Cha Cha Azucar" Silgado of Panama City, Panama on October 11th at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT.
Chaney laid Silgado out for several minutes with a devastating right hand. Chaney remains undefeated at 17-0, 11 KO's. Silgado, a former world title contender at cruiserweight, falls to 28-8, 22 KO's.

Warren Signs With Mayweather Promotions!
Espn.com's Dan Rafael is reporting that Baltimore, MD junior lightweight Malik "The King" Warren has signed a promotional contract with Mayweather Promotions.
The 19-year-old Warren won his pro debut on July 27th at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore by second-round TKO over Davonte McCowan. Warren, who had an outstanding amateur record including two Washington Golden Gloves championships. Warren is the third boxer from Baltimore's Upton Boxing Gym to sign with Mayweather Promotions joining two-time world champion Gervonta Davis and Malik Hawkins.
Warren is scheduled to return to the ring on Friday, November 1st against the debuting Shauncy Perry of Jonesboro, AR on a Mayweather Promotions card at the Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, NV.

Womack Falls By First Round KO In Philadelphia!
Baltimore, MD welterweight Kevin "The Scarecrow" Womack, Jr. lost by first-round knockout tonight to Shinard Bunch of Trenton, NJ tonight at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
Bunch landed an overhead right to drop Womack and the bout was stopped at 1:56. Womack, who was a late sub for this bout, falls to 9-19-4, seven KO's. Bunch is now 3-1, three KO's.

Womack Is Late Sub In Philadelphia!
Baltimore, MD's Kevin "The Scarecrow" Womack, Jr. will be in Philadelphia, PA tonight as a late substitute against Shinard Bunch of Trenton, NJ at the 2300 Arena. Womack, Jr. (9-18-4, seven KO's) looks to bounce back from a first-round TKO loss to Brian Norman, Jr. on July 27th in Atlanta, GA. Bunch (2-1, two KO's) also will be coming off a loss, a six-round unanimous decision defeat to Paul Kroll on August 10th in Philadelphia.

This is a very special card called "Blood, Sweat and 50 Years" because it celebrates the 50th anniversary of boxing promoting for legendary Hall Of Fame promoter J. Russell Peltz.
