Washington, DC heavyweight Danny "Smooth" Kelly takes a big step up in competition when he takes on undefeated Adam Kownacki of Brooklyn, NY in an eight-round contest on Saturday, January 16 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Kelly (9-1-1, eight KO's) has won three straight by knockout since suffering his only loss in August of 2014. Kelly is coming off a first-round knockout of Jimmy Suarez on September 18 in Atlantic City, NJ. This will be Kelly's first scheduled eight-round contest.
Kownacki, a native of Lomza, Poland (12-0, 10 KO's), last fought on October 10th and won an eight-round unanimous decision over Rodney Hernandez in Lowell, MA. The win was the second time he has gone the distance in his last three bouts.
Kownacki was scheduled to compete in the 2007 Mayor's Cup in DC as an amateur but ended up winning the bout by walkover.
This bout will be on the undercard of the double heavyweight title main event featuring Deontay Wilder defending his WBC title against Artur Szipilka and Charles Martin battling Vyacheslav Glazkov for the vacant IBF crown. These will be the first heavyweight title bouts held in Brooklyn in 115 years.

Referee Chevalier Travels To Japan For IBF Light Flyweight Title Bout December 29!

Beltway referee Kenny Chevalier will receive another opportunity to travel and referee a world title bout.
On Tuesday, December 29th, Chevalier will be the third man in the ring when Javier Mendoza of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico defends his IBF Light Flyweight title against former two-division WBA world champion Akira Yaegashi of Yokohama, Japan at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan.
This is Chevalier's first world title bout since he worked the Cornelius Bundrage-Carlos Molina IBF Super Welterweight title bout in October of 2014 in Cancun, Mexico. That same year, Chevalier was the referee for Peter Quillin's WBO Middleweight title defense against Lukas Konecny on April 19, 2014 at the DC Armory.
Among some of the other great title bouts Chevalier has worked include William Joppy's third bout against Julio Cesar Green in September of 1999, the All-Beltway title bout between champion Sharmba Mitchell and challenger Reggie Green in April of 1999 (both at the Verizon Center) and Andrew Council's bid for the middleweight title against Bernard Hopkins in November of 1997 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Ballard Remains Undefeated With Six-Round Unanimous Decision In New York; Corley Stopped In Fourth In Sweden!
Undefeated Temple Hills, MD super middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard won a six-round unanimous decision over Fabiano "Pit Bull" Pena of Los Angeles, CA Saturday at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY.
Boxing writers called the win a methodical one for Ballard who won a shutout (60-54) on all three judge's cards. Ballard raised his record to 11-0, seven KO's while Pena falls to 11-4-1, eight KO's.
Meanwhile, in Nykoping, Sweden, former WBO Super Lightweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley of Washington, DC lost by fourth-round TKO to undefeated Anthony Yigit of Stockholm, Sweden. According to reports, Corley got off to a good start in the bout, but as the rounds progressed, Corley told reporters his timing was off. Corley did not leave his stool after the third round.

Gary Antuanne Russell -- US Olympian!!!
Like his brothers before him, he became a boxer. Like his brothers before him, he won a national Golden Gloves championship.
And now, like his oldest brother, Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, MD has earned a spot on the United States Olympic Team! Russell won the 141-Pound championship today at the United States Olympic Trials in Reno, NV! Like Gary, Jr. before him, Russell fought his way through the challenger's bracket winning six straight bouts including back-to-back 3-0 victories over the man that defeated him in the opening bout, Jaron Ennis of Philadelphia, PA.
Russell now has to qualify internationally to participate in the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Russell will have three opportunities to accomplish this -- starting with a continental tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina in March.

Middleweight Shariff "C3" Rahman of Las Vegas, NV by way of Baltimore made a successful pro debut scoring a first-round TKO over Alex Ashbury of Kannapolis, NC. Rahman knocked down Ashbury three times to earn his victory. Ashbury is 0-4.
Rahman's father, former undisputed world heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman was on hand, not only to support his son but he also participated in four-round exhibition contest against Robert Dunton of Hopkins, SC. Another former world champ, Zab "Super" Judah, worked Shariff Rahman's corner.
In the co-feature, Baltimore cruiserweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves was dominant in a first-round knockout of Anthony "The Bull" Caputo Smith of Kennett Square, PA. At the halfway mark of the opening round, Reeves landed a solid right hand to the awkward Smith and dropped him to the canvas. Smith beat the count but was quickly knocked back to the canvas by another Reeves right hand forcing referee Brent Bovell to call the fight off at 1:40. Reeves is now 11-2-2, five KO's while Smith is 15-7, 10 KO's.
Debuting Baltimore super middleweight Stephon "The Surgeon" Morris used a brutal counter right hand to knock out Cassanova Brooks of Atlanta, GA in the second round. After a relatively even first round, Morris caught Brooks with the counter hand that made Brooks crumple to the canvas. Referee David Braslow counted to 10 and the contest was stopped at 28 seconds. Brooks is 0-2.
Baltimore welterweight Malik "The Iceman" Hawkins went the distance for the first time in his young pro career, winning a four-round unanimous decision over Jose Valderrama of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Hawkins landed quick and solid shots against the game Valderrama who took Hawkins's best shots throughout. Hawkins, who had never been past the first round in a contest, won this bout by scores of 39-37 (twice) and 40-36. Hawkins is now 5-0, four KO's while Jose Valderrama is 4-12, three KO's.

For Tyrek Irby and Marquis Moore, the Olympic journey is over. Irby, of Oxon Hill, MD lost his 141-Pound bout to Jamaine Ortiz-Rodriguez of Worcester, MA by a 3-0 decision. Ortiz-Rodriguez will now face Russell tonight.

Irby, Moore, Join Russell In Challenger's Bracket Of US Olympic Trials!
At this point, if any of the Beltway Boxers want to earn a spot on the US Olympic Team, they will have to work their way through the challenger's bracket.
Day two of the trials in Reno, NV saw Tyrek Irby of Oxon Hill, MD lose his second-round contest at 141 Pounds to Jaron Ennis of Philadelphia, PA by a 3-0 score. Marquis Moore of Colorado Springs, CO by way of Fort Washington, MD also lost a 3-0 decision at 165 Pounds to Chordale Booker of Brooklyn, NY.
Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, MD, who is already in the challenger's bracket, stayed alive in the tournament with a 3-0 decision over Richardson Hitchins of Brooklyn, NY at 141 Pounds.

White Needs Just 20 Seconds To Win Pro Debut; Aleem Captures Unanimous Decision In Trenton!

DC lightweight Jordan "Shortdog" White needed just 20 seconds to win his professional debut tonight at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ.
According to Keystone Boxing's Ross Molovinsky who was in Trenton, White hit Jose Roman of Puerto Rico with a right hook to the body and a left to the temple to drop him. The bout was quickly called off. Roman is now 0-4.
In a televised bout on the card, Immanuwel Aleem of Richmond, VA won an eight-round unanimous decision over Carlos Galvan of Apartado, Colombia. Aleem won by scores of 78-74 and 77-75 (twice). Aleem remains undefeated at 15-0, nine KO's. Galvan falls to 11-4-1, 10 KO's.
Final Beltway Pro Card of 2015 Coming Together For Baltimore December 12!
The final Beltway pro boxing card of 2015 will take place on Saturday, December 12 at the Coppermine Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, MD. This will be a Shawstyle Promotions/Shabazz Productions card.
In an eight-round contest, Baltimore cruiserweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves will take on Anthony Caputo Smith of Kennett Square, PA. Reeves (10-2-1, four KO's) has won seven straight bouts including a sixth-round knockout of Samar Barakat on July 9 at the Tall Cedar's Hall in Baltimore. Smith (15-6, 10 KO's) was stopped in the first round in his last bout against undefeated Keith Tapia on September 18 in Atlantic City, NJ. Smith has lost four straight against quality opposition including Tapia, Garrett Wilson, Ola Afolabi and BJ Flores.

White Weighs 119 1/2 For Pro Debut In New Jersey!
Jordan White tipped the scales at 119 1/2 pounds for his four-round pro debut Tuesday night at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ. White's opponent, Jose Roman weighed 120 pounds.

Lockett Scores Upset In Atlantic City!
Takoma Park, MD cruiserweight Willis "The Prophet" Lockett scored a nice upset win over John Lennox of Carteret, NJ Saturday night at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ.
Lockett captured a six-round unanimous decision winning by scores of 59-55 (twice) and 58-56. This was Lockett's 29th bout that he has fought a boxer with a .500 record or better. The list includes former world champion Keith Holmes, Tarvis Simms, Aaron Pryor, Jr. and Jersen Ravelo. The win evens Lockett's record at 14-14-5, five KO's. Lennox has now lost two straight and he is now 13-4, five KO's.

Dozier, Williams Lose Bouts In Brooklyn!
Two Beltway Boxers lost bouts today on the undercard of the Daniel Jacobs-Peter Quillin card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Suitland, MD super lightweight Lenwood "Mr. Composure" Dozier lost an eight-round unanimous decision to former WBA champion Yuri Foreman of Brooklyn. According to reports, Dozier caught Foreman late in the first round with some hard shots but Foreman settled down on his punches and won the decision. All three judges scored the bout 77-75. Dozier is now 9-10-1, four KO's while Foreman's record rises to 33-2, nine KO's.

Fox systematically broke Mate down throughout the contest with a strong right jab and solid left hands to the body and head. The 6'4" Fox used his height very well and Mate never could overcome the height differential as he went into survival mode by the fourth round. Fox is now 8-0, two KO's while Mate falls to 17-7, 10 KO's.
In the co-feature, Thomas "KO" Snow of Capitol Heights, MD scored a second-round TKO over Tibor Nadori of Nagykanizsa, Hungary in a bantamweight contest. Harrison Florida Bout Called Off!
You kind of figured this would happen. After four tries for opponents for Dusty Hernandez Harrison, the bout that was scheduled to take place on December fifth in Kissimmee, FL has been called off.
No official reason for the cancellation.

Kareem "Reemo" Martin of Washington, DC captured a six-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Tevin Watts of Lancaster, CA in a welterweight bout at the Hangar in Costa Mesa, CA on Thursday.

Harrison's Florida Opponent Changes...YET AGAIN!!
In what has become a maddening situation, Dusty Hernandez Harrison will have to prepare for another late sub of an opponent when he climbs into the ring for his bout in Kissimmee, FL on Saturday, December 5.
Let's recap what has happened, shall we?
1. Harrison was originally supposed to face Steve Claggett of Canada. However, Claggett had visa issues.
2. Then there was Samuel Amoako of Ghana. HBO turned the matchup down.
3. Ammeth Diaz was the next replacement. Diaz was scratched because the native of Panama is on suspension for competing in an illegal bout in Mexico.
Now the opponent is Santos "El Toro" Benevides of Chontales, Nicaragua (25-8-2, 19 KO's) Benevides had a two-bout losing streak broken when he was stopped in the second round by Jason Pagara on October 17 in Carson, CA.

DC featherweight Jordan "Shortdog" White will make his professional debut on Tuesday, December 8 at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ.

Pro boxing returns to Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD on Friday, December 4 with a King's Promotions card that will not have one boxer on the card with a losing record.
In the main event, undefeated Forestville, MD super lightweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox will make his King's Promotions debut in a six-round contest against Adam "Bad Boy" Mate of Sopron, Hungary. Fox (7-0, two KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Juan Carlos Castillo on July 18 in Washington, DC. Fox signed with King's Promotions in October. Mate (18-6, 11 KO's) has won three of his last four bouts and makes his second appearance in the United States. On July 25, Mate lost by fifth-round TKO to William Silva on a nationally-televised (UniMas) card in Hollywood, CA.

On Wednesday, November 25, there will be an amateur boxing card at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD. The main event features Brian Haneschlager of the Baltimore Boxing Club taking on Drew Ryan of West Virginia. Also slated to be on the card are Joe and Sean -- The Veazey Brothers as well as a co-feature between two Baltimore competitors as Donald Wallace battles Tyrell Boyd for the Maryland State Middleweight championship.
Fans are also asked to bring canned food items and contribute to the canned food drive named in memory of Baltimore heavyweight fan favorite "The American Dream" Mike Dietrich.

Martin Heads To California For Six-Round Bout December 3!
DC welterweight Kareem "Reemo" Martin will travel to Costa Mesa, CA for a six-round contest against fellow undefeated boxer Tevin Watts of Lancaster, CA on Thursday, December 3 at the Hangar.
Martin (6-0-1, three KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Anthony Prescott on August 28 at the Washington Convention Center. The bout was Martin's first in front of his home fans.

Bob Foster, Legendary Light Heavyweight World Champion Who Fought Out Of DC, Passes At 77!
Bob Foster, who was a two-time world champion in the sixties and seventies, passed away today at the age of 77.
Foster was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC and in 1957, joined the US Air Force Boxing Team and also was a coach. As an amateur, Foster had more than 100 amateur bouts and only lost three. Foster was a three-time All-Service Champion and won a silver medalist at the Pan American Games in 1959.
Foster made his pro debut at the old Capital Arena in DC on March 27, 1961 scoring a second-round KO of Duke Williams. This would be the first of eight appearances Foster would make in his adopted hometown, fighting primarily at the Washington Coliseum.
Foster would win his first nine bouts before losing to Doug Jones, a heavyweight boxer Foster coached in the amateurs, by eighth-round TKO on October 20, 1962 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Seven of Foster's eight losses would be to heavyweights throughout his career.
On May 24, 1968, Foster would receive a shot of the light heavyweight title and make the most of it, knocking out Dick Tiger in the fourth round at Madison Square Garden. This would be the only time Tiger would be knocked out in his career. Foster would make four defenses of his title.
On November 18, 1970 at Cobo Arena in Detroit, MI, Foster would challenge Joe Frazier for the heavyweight championship. Foster would be knocked out in the second round. One month later, the WBA would strip Foster of their version of the light heavyweight crown because he would not defend against the ranked number one contender. Foster would remain WBC champion.
Foster would regain the WBA championship on April 7, 1972 with a second-round TKO over Vicente Rondon in Miami, FL. Foster would remain undisputed light heavyweight champion for two more years, a tenure that included wins over Mike Quarry and a 14th-round TKO over Chris Finnegan on September 26, 1972 in London, England that Ring Magazine called the Fight Of The Year.
After the Finnegan bout, Foster challenged Muhammad Ali for the NABF Heavyweight title on November 21, 1972 in Stateline, NV. Foster would lose by eighth-round knockout. Foster would defend the light heavyweight title three more times before announcing his retirement in September of 1974.
Foster would return to boxing in June of 1975 and would go 6-2 in his final eight bouts before officially calling it a career in 1978. His final record was 56-8-1, 46 KO's. After his retirement, Foster worked for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.
Foster would be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. In 1994, Ring Magazine named Foster the third greatest light heavyweight of all time behind Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore.
Yes, Foster was a Beltway Boxing legend who will live on in boxing memory forever.
Thomas Battles To Six-Round Draw; Mosley Is Knocked Out In One in Philadelphia!
Salisbury, MD super middleweight Tahir Thomas battled to a six-round split decision draw against fellow undefeated boxer Antowyan Aikens of Atlantic City, NJ Friday night at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. According to reporter JR Jowett, both men were knocked down in the bout -- Thomas in the first and Aikens in the sixth. One judge scored the bout 57-55 for Thomas and one judge had it 57-55 for Aikens. The third judge saw the draw, 56-56.
Thomas's record is now 4-0-1, three KO's while Aikens is 10-0-1, one KO.

In an all-Pennsylvania battle, Rolando "Iron Man" Chinea of Lancaster won a six-round split decision over Christian "Quiet Riot" Steele of Philadelphia. Two of the judges seemed to favor the activity of Chinea as he threw a large volume of punches. Steele landed some solid shots throughout the contest but didn't do enough to get the win. Judges Wayne Smith and Brian Costello saw the bout for Chinea 58-56 and 59-56 respectively while judge Eric Irizarry saw the contest for Steele, 58-56. Chinea bounces back from suffering his first pro loss in his last bout and his record is now 11-1-1, six KO's. Steele's record is now 4-18-2.
Silver Spring, MD junior lightweight Alexandru "Spartan" Marin took a six-round unanimous decision over Stephon McIntyre of Jonesboro, GA. Marin was in control throughout the contest against the game McIntyre who withstood some solid punches. Marin won by a 60-54 score across the board to remain undefeated at 7-0, four KO's. McIntyre is now 2-15-2.
Super lightweight Drayvontay Speed-Rawls of Glenarden, MD stopped Shonta Barnes of Wilson, NC at 1:45 of the first round. Speed-Rawls had no problem with the somewhat hyper Barnes as he hit Barnes with a right hand that dropped him. When Barnes got up, he decided not to continue. Speed-Rawls is now 4-0, two KO's while Barnes is 0-2.
Two-time Irish Olympian John Joe Nevin of Mullingar, Ireland won a four-round unanimous decision over DeWayne Wisdom of Indianapolis, IN. Nevin, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, stayed poised as Wisdom tried to clown his way through the bulk of the bout. Referee Michelle Myers took two points away from Wisdom for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct. Wisdom managed to survive the full four rounds but Nevin was in complete control. Nevin won by scores of 40-33 and 40-34 (twice) to raise his record to 6-0, four KO's. Wisdom is now 6-25-1, three KO's.

Hurd Scores Impressive Sixth-Round TKO Over Galarza; Nicklow Falls In Three In Las Vegas!
Undefeated Accokeek, MD super welterweight "Swift" Jarrett Hurd had a coming out party Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV as he scored an impressive sixth-round TKO over previously undefeated "Notorious" Frank Galarza. The bout was the main event of the ShoBox card on Showtime.
After an even two rounds, Hurd began to take over the contest eventually dropping Galarza in the fourth and later landing brutal shots to get the bout stopped at 59 seconds of the sixth round. With this big win, Hurd is now 17-0, 11 KO's while Galarza falls for the first time in his career and he is 17-1-2, 11 KO's.

Forestville, MD's Alantez "SlyAza" Fox scored a fourth-round TKO over Todd Manuel of Rayne, LA Friday at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS.
According to Cliff Rold of BoxingScene.com, Fox was sharp from the opening bell as he landed shots to the body and right hands to the head. Fox dropped Manuel in the third round and Manuel complained of blurred vision after the fourth. Manuel could not come out for the fifth round and the bout was stopped.
Fox, scoring his second win this month. remains undefeated at 18-0-1, seven KO's. Manuel, who took this bout on less than a week notice, is now 10-10-1, one KO.
On the televised (Spike TV) portion of this card, Fernando "The Warrior" Guerrero, a Salisbury, MD resident who fights out of Los Angeles, CA, battered Daniel Souza Santos of Sao Paulo, Brazil for seven rounds before stopping him at 1:45 of the seventh.
Guerrero started slowly but eventually wore down Santos as he landed punches in bunches before the bout was eventually stopped. Guerrero raises his record to 28-3, 20 KO's while Santos falls to 14-9, 11 KO's.

Hurd, Nicklow Hit Scales In Las Vegas!

Jarrett Hurd and Jessie Nicklow weighed in for their televised (Showtime) bouts Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Both Hurd and Frank Galarza weighed 154 1/2 pounds for their 10-round main event bout.
Nicklow weighed 165 1/2 for his eight-round bout against Sergiy Derevyanchenko that will open the ShoBox telecast. Derevyanchenko tipped the scales at 164 1/4. The telecast begins at 10:45 PM ET.

Williams Scores Second-Round TKO In Biloxi, MS!
Thomas "Top Dog" Williams, Jr. of Laurel, MD has scored a second-round TKO over Humberto Savigne of Miami, FL in the co-feature bout at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS. The bout was televised by Spike TV.
For the second time in his pro career, Williams had to survive a knockdown in the first round to win the bout. Williams knocked down Savigne with a crisp right hand in the first minute. However, Savigne sent Williams down in the second minute of the round with a solid right hand of his own.
In the second round, Williams found Savigne again with a left hand followed by a right uppercut that dropped him. Savigne was on rubbery legs when he got back up and Williams landed enough solid blows to force referee Keith Hughes to stop the bout at 1:48.
Williams is now 19-1, 13 KO's. Savigne's record drops to 12-3, nine KO's.

Salinas Regains UBF Title With Unanimous Decision!
Jennifer Salinas has won a 10-round unanimous decision over Melissa St. Vil in our main event tonight at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD.
This was a Beltway Boxing Bout Of The Year candidate as the two ladies slugged it out for the 10-round duration. St. Vil caught the early advantage by using her solid right hand. However, Salinas started to take control midway through the contest as her straight left hand landed with consistency. Both ladies suffered welts under the eyes as they clashed heads repeatedly.
Judges Dave Braslow and Paul Wallace saw the bout 96-94 while Brent Bovell saw Salinas winning by a 99-91 score.
Salinas is 18-3, four KO's while St. Vil is 6-2-3.

Kenon Scores First-Round Knockout Over Alexander!
Leonardo Kenon let loose with a brutal right hand that dropped Chris Alexander and stopped the contest at 1:30 of the first round.
Kenon rode a bus 26 hours from Tallahassee, FL on Wednesday to get to the bout here in Maryland. Kenon gets his first pro win and is now 1-2, one KO. Alexander drops his second straight bout and is now 4-2, four KO's.

Douglas Defends UBF Title With Unanimous Decision!
Tyrieshia Douglas has successfully defended her UBF Bantamweight title with a 10-round unanimous decision over a very game Nydia Feliciano.
Douglas repeated found a home for her straight left hand, a major part of her offense. Feliciano tried to stay with Douglas and had some offensive spurts but they were few and far between.
Douglas won by scores of 100-90 and 98-92 (twice). Douglas is now 10-1, four KO's. Feliciano is 8-7-4.
Next up: Chris Alexander of Norfolk, VA in a super lightweight bout against Leonardo Kenon of Tallahassee, FL. Four rounds.
Davis Wins Unanimous Decision!
Joshua Davis, now fighting out of Catonsville, MD, has won a four-round unanimous decision over Justin Lopez. Davis was in complete control throughout the contest, landing crisp combinations.
Despite no knockdowns in the bout, judge Kenny Chevalier scored the bout, 40-35. Judges Brent Bovell and Paul Wallace also saw a shutout at 40-36.
Davis's record rises to 10-1, four KO's. Lopez is now 5-4, five KO's.

Womack Stopped In Four!
In the opening bout at Martin's Valley Mansion, Kevin Womack, Jr. has been stopped in the fourth round by undefeated Ed Brown.
The two men, who met in the amateurs, were almost mirror images -- long and lanky junior welterweights. Both men were able to land long jabs. In the fourth, Brown put his punches together aggressively enough to get referee Kenny Chevalier to stop the bout at two minutes.
Womack is now 7-10-3, five KO's while Brown is 13-0, 11 KO's.
Next up: DC super featherweight Joshua "Dynamite" Davis will battle Justin Lopez of Grandville, MI in a four-round contest.

On the Friday, November 13 card at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS that features Thomas Williams battling Umberto Savigne on Spike TV, undefeated Forestville, MD super welterweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox will take on Todd Manuel of Rayne, LA in an eight-round contest. Fox (17-0-1, six KO's) is coming off a fifth-round disqualification win over Eric Mitchell on October 17 in Fairfax, VA. Manuel (10-9-1, one KO) will be trying to break a five-bout losing streak.
Also on the card, Fernando Guerrero will be in a 10-round contest against Daniel Souza Santos of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Guerrero (27-3, 19 KO's) will try to build off of his 10-round split decision victory over Abraham Han on April 18 in Carson, CA. Santos (14-8, 11 KO's) broke a three-bout losing streak with a second-round TKO over Ricardo Teixeira Junior on October 3 in Sao Paulo. This is the first trip to the US for Santos.

Two Maryland boxers will square off in an eight-round youth versus experience contest on Friday, December 11 at the Parsippany PAL in Parsippany, NJ.Bowie, MD's "The King's Son" Jerry Odom (top) will battle Baltimore, MD's Willie "For Real" Williams in this light heavyweight contest. Both men are coming off tough losses.
For Odom (13-2, 12 KO's), this will be his first contest since losing by third-round TKO to Samuel Clarkson on July 17 in Bethlehem, PA. Williams (14-10-2, four KO's) has lost four of his last five bouts, including losses to Roy Jones, Jr. and Shaun Miller.

Amateur Boxing A Plenty This Weekend!
This will be an exciting weekend for Beltway pro boxing. However, the amateurs will make their mark this weekend as well with two quality cards.
On Friday, November 13, the PVA All-Stars will be hosting a card at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD. There are boxers scheduled to compete from all over the east coast. The starting time for the event is 7:00 and tickets are $20. For more information, call 202-528-7694.
Then on Saturday, November 14, it's the first annual John F. Sneed boxing show which will take place at the Mary Virginia Merrick Center located at 4275 4th Street in Southeast DC. The card is held in memory of John Sneed, the legendary Beltway boxing coach and trainer who is the grandfather of pro football hall of famer Jonathan Ogden. There will be live boxing as well as testimonials from noted athletes who were touched by this man. Tickets are $ 20 for ringside, $15 for floor seats and $10 general admission. Beltway Ladies Defend Titles At Ogden Benefit Card November 12 in Cockeysville!
It will be ladies night when two of our Beltway Queens defend titles at the 10th annual Jonathan Ogden Foundation "An Evening Ringside" benefit boxing card on Thursday, November 12 at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD.
In the main event,"The Bolivian Queen" Jennifer Salinas defends her UBF Super Featherweight title against "Little Miss Tyson" Melissa St. Vil of Brooklyn, NY by way of Haiti in another 10-round encounter. Salinas (17-3, four KO's) won an eight-round unanimous decision over Jasmine Clarkson in her last outing on June 20 in Woodlawn, MD. St. Vil (6-1-3) has not fought since the 2014 Jonathan Ogden benefit card when she battled to a six-round draw against Ashleigh Curry on November 6.

Reed Remains Undefeated With Seventh-Round TKO in Las Vegas!
Beltway Boxers go two-for-two in Las Vegas bouts this weekend. On the heels of Antoine Douglas's dominating performance Friday night at the D Hotel and Casino, Waldorf, MD super lightweight Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed put on a similar performance today scoring a seventh-round TKO over late sub Rondale Hubbert of Minneapolis, MN at the Thomas and Mack Center on the undercard of Timothy Bradley-Brandon Rios.
Reed was able to break down Hubbert throughout the bout eventually knocking down Hubbert with a short right hand early in the seventh round. A few moments later, Reed landed a blistering left hand that stunned Hubbert against the ropes, forcing referee Kenny Bayless to stop the contest at 1:09.
Reed remains undefeated at 17-0, 10 KO's while Hubbert falls to 10-4-1, six KO's.

Reed Weighs 141 For Eight-Rounder In Las Vegas!
Mike Reed tipped the scales at 141 pounds for his eight-round contest against late sub Rondale Hubbert tonight at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. Hubbert weighed in at 142. The bout is being fought at a catchweight.
Hubbert, a native of Dilworth, MN (10-3-1, six KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision loss to Ladarius Miller on September 29 at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Hibbert replaces Oscar Cortes, who did not make the trip to Vegas.
The bout will be shown on www.toprank.tv as they will show part of the Timothy Bradley-Brandon Rios undercard beginning at 6 PM ET.
Douglas Dominates En Route To Fourth-Round TKO In Las Vegas!
Burke, VA middleweight Antoine "Action" Douglas remained undefeated with another dominating performance in front of a nationally-televised (Showtime ShoBox) audience Friday night. Douglas scored a very impressive fourth-round TKO over Les "Lock and Loaded" Sherrington of Queensland, Australia at the D in Las Vegas, NV. The win earns Douglas the WBO International Middleweight title.
Douglas was on target from the first round as he landed his left hand seemingly at will. Douglas showed tremendous patience throughout the contest as he seemed to know the right time to throw his brutal punches. Douglas knocked Sherrington down five times before referee Kenny Bayless stopped the bout at 1:02 of the fourth.
Douglas's record is now 19-0-1, 13 KO's and he is 4-0-1, three knockouts on ShoBox. Sherrington, who was making his United States debut, now has a record of 35-8, 19 KO's.

Quigley Captures IBA Intercontinental Super Welterweight Title With First-Round KO In Germany!
Congratulations to Gaithersburg, MD's Gerome "GQ" Quigley who traveled to Frankfurt, Germany and won the vacant International Boxing Association Intercontinental Super Welterweight title this evening.
Quigley scored a first-round knockout over hometown boxer Vito Vendetta to win the title. Quigley remains undefeated at 11-0, 10 KO's while Vendetta falls to
11-2-1, six KO's.
Hurd-Galarza Bout Becomes ShoBox Main Event November 14 In Las Vegas!
As was reported earlier, WBC Featherweight champion Gary Russell, Jr. was scheduled to defend his title against Oscar Escandon in the original main event on this evening. However, Russell suffered an injury in training. Showtime decided to keep the date for what should be a great battle.
This also means that Beltway Boxers will headline ShoBox cards in back-to-back weekends. As we know, Antoine Douglas is in the main event on tonight's ShoBox card, also from Las Vegas.

Antoine Douglas weighed in at 158 pounds for his 10-round nationally televised main event contest against Les Sherrington tonight at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center in Las Vegas, NV. Sherrington tipped the scales at 159 pounds.
The bout will be for the vacant WBA and WBO International Middleweight titles and will be shown on Showtime as the featured bout of a quadrupleheader that begins at 10 PM ET.
Under Armour Commercial Features Baltimore Boxing Club!
Under Armour, the Maryland-based sporting apparel company, has a new television ad for their "Rule Yourself" campaign. The ad features footage shot at the Baltimore Boxing Club gym run by Jake Smith.
The ad also contains footage and quotes from Muhammad Ali as well as training footage and quotes from Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Russell Jr. Suffers Injury; November 14 Title Defense Called Off!
Fightnews.com is reporting that the first title defense for WBC Featherweight champion "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. has been called off. Russell suffered an injury in training.
Russell was scheduled to face Oscar Escandon on Saturday, November 14 at the Hard Rock Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV in a nationally-televised (Showtime) bout.
According to Fightnews, Showtime has not decided on whether to proceed with the card, which has a number of Beltway Boxers slated to participate. The co-feature bout has Jarrett Hurd taking on Frank Galarza. Russell's brother, Antonio and Gervonta Davis were also scheduled to be on the card. ESPN.com's Dan Rafael is saying that Showtime may downgrade the card to a ShoBox card with the Hurd-Galarza bout as the main event.

McCalla Loses Unanimous Decision In Houston; Corley Loses by Points!
Randallstown, MD's Cecil McCalla has lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Tony "Superbad" Harrison of Detroit, MI tonight at the NRG Arena in Houston, TX.
Harrison dominated most of the contest with a strong left jab and a solid right hand that kept McCalla off balance throughout most of the bout. McCalla tried to catch Harrison in the final two rounds but it was way too late. Harrison won by scores of 100-90 and 98-92 (twice ).
After winning his first 20 bouts, McCalla has lost three straight and is now 20-3, seven KO's. Harrison bounces back from suffering his first pro loss as he raises his record to 22-1, 18 KO's.
We also received late word that former WBO Super Lightweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley of DC lost by a decision to Bahodir Mamadjanov of Houston on the card. Corley has now lost three straight and is now 42-26-1, 25 KO's while Mamadjanov is now 18-2, 11 KO's.

Journey Ends For Beltway Boxers At Women's Olympic Trials, Men's Qualifier In Memphis!
Competition has ended for Beltway amateurs in Memphis, TN. There will be no local female boxer heading to the Olympics and no one in the Men's competition will advance to the Olympic Trials from this event.
On Friday, Tiara Brown lost her lightweight challenger's bracket final contest to Jajaira Gonzalez of Glendora, CA by a 3-0 score.
On the men's side, Donald Wallace of Catonsville, MD lost his bid to qualify in the middleweight division.
Two Beltway men will head to the trials in Reno, NV December 7-12 -- Tyrek Irby and Gary Antuanne Russell.

Crews Falls From Olympic Trials; Wallace Moves Into Semis Of Qualifier!
Only one Beltway female boxer remains in the competition at the Women's Olympic Trials in Memphis, TN. On Thursday, Franchon Crews was eliminated from the competition at 165 Pounds. Crews lost a 2-1 decision to Tika Hemingway of Brackenridge, PA.
This leaves Tiara Brown as the sole Beltway competitor. Brown will face Jajaira Gonzalez of Glendora, CA in the Challengers Bracket 132-pound finals today.
At the Men's Trials Qualifier, Donald Wallace of Catonsville, MD has moved into the semifinals at 165 Pounds. Wallace won a 3-0 decision over Gregory Soileau of Marion, LA. If Wallace wins his semifinal bout, he will qualify for the Olympic Trials in December.

Just a handful of Beltway amateurs survived a tough day of competition at the Women's Olympic Trials and the Men's Qualifier at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN on Wednesday.
At the Women's trials, Franchon Crews stayed in the tournament by winning her 165-pound challengers bracket bout by a 3-0 decision over Naomi Graham of Colorado Springs, CO. Crews will take on Tika Hemingway of Brackenridge, PA on Thursday.
At 132 pounds, Tiara Brown lost her first bout of the tournament, dropping a 3-0 decision to Mikaela Meyer of Los Angeles, CA. Brown is still in the tournament but is not scheduled to compete today.
Amelia Moore's Olympic journey is over at 132 pounds. Moore lost her bout by medical walkover. No word on why she was unable to compete on Wednesday.
On the men's side, only two locals made it into the next round of competition. Donald Wallace of Catonsville, MD won a 2-1 decision over Antonio Woods of Cedar Rapids, IA in the 165-pound bracket. Also, Colby Madison of Owings Mills, MD won a 3-0 decision over Austin Joseph of Atlanta, GA at 201+ pounds.
Six locals were eliminated from competition on Wednesday. At 132 pounds, Jalonte Cole lost a 3-0 decision to Elijah Peixoto of East Providence, RI while Ernest Hall lost by the same decision to Michael Dutchover of Midland, TX.
At 141, Nigel Fennell fell by a 3-0 decision to Michael Montgomery of Macon, GA.
Keeshawn Williams lost a 3-0 decision to Ferdinand Kerobyan of North Hollywood, CA at 152 pounds.
At 165, Tavon Body dropped a 3-0 decision to Frederick Wilson of Cleveland, OH.
Also, Mark Duncan suffered a third-round stoppage at the hands of Eric Moon of Marietta, GA at 178 pounds.

Brown, Moore Victorious In Women's Olympic Trials; Crews Suffers First Loss; Kenney Is Eliminated!
On the second day of competition at the US Women's Olympic Trials at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN, Tiara Brown has moved into the finals of the winners bracket of the double-elimination tournament. Brown won a 3-0 decision over Rianna Rios of Colorado Springs, CO on Tuesday in the lightweight division. Brown will now face Mikaela Mayer of Los Angeles, CA in Wednesday's action.
Brown and Mayer are no strangers to each other as this will be the fifth time they have faced each other. Each woman has two victories in their matchups.
Amelia Moore remained in the tournament by defeating Lisa Porter of Van Nuys, CA 2-1 in the lightweight challengers bracket. Moore will take on Samantha Kinchen of Lexington, KY in her next contest.

The Olympic trials are over now for Iesha Kenney, who suffered her second loss of the tournament by a 3-0 decision to Cierra Taylor of Rochester, NY. Kenney was the youngest competitor at the trials at just 17 years old.
USA Boxing has not provided official results on Tuesday's action at the Men's Qualifier, however, we have learned that Keeshawn Williams, Jalonte Cole, Tavon Body and Nigel Fennell are among the locals who advanced to the next round of competition.

Davis, A. Russell Added To Thompson-Scott Undercard in Orlando, FL
Two more Beltway Boxers have been added to the Tony Thompson-Malik Scott undercard on Friday, October 30th at the Venue at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
Undefeated Baltimore, MD featherweight Gervonta "Tank" Davis will battle former world champion Cristobal Cruz of Mexico in an eight-round contest. Davis (12-0, 11 KO's) has scored three first-round knockouts in his last three contests. That includes a stoppage of Recky Dulay on September 12 in Las Vegas, NV.
Cruz (40-18-4, 24 KO's) is winless in his last five contests, including a six-round unanimous decision against Eddie Ramirez on September 8 in Hollywood, CA. Cruz won the IBF Featherweight championship in October of 2008 with a 12-round split decision over Orlando Salido. Cruz would make three defenses of his title before losing the belt to Salido in May of 2010.
Bantamweight Antonio Russell of Capitol Heights, MD will also be on this card taking on Gabriel Braxton of Red Oak, GA in a six-round contest.
Russell (4-0, three KO's) scored a second-round TKO over Manuel Rubalcava on September 12 in Mashantucket, CT. That was Russell's first scheduled six-round contest. Braxton (2-11, one KO) has lost four straight including his last three by knockout. Both of Braxton's wins came in the Beltway region. Braxton won a four-round unanimous decision over Rodrigo Gabriel in April of 2014 in Fort Washington, MD and scored a third-round TKO over Maurice Adams, Jr. on January 17 in Washington, DC.
Both Davis and Russell are still slated to be on the undercard of Gary Russell, Jr.'s WBC Featherweight title bout against Oscar Escandon on Saturday, November 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Thompson will take on Scott in the main event of the televised portion of the card. WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will be ringside as a color commentator for the Bounce TV telecast.
