On the second day of competition at the US Women's Olympic Trials at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN, Tiara Brown has moved into the finals of the winners bracket of the double-elimination tournament. Brown won a 3-0 decision over Rianna Rios of Colorado Springs, CO on Tuesday in the lightweight division. Brown will now face Mikaela Mayer of Los Angeles, CA in Wednesday's action.
Brown and Mayer are no strangers to each other as this will be the fifth time they have faced each other. Each woman has two victories in their matchups.
Amelia Moore remained in the tournament by defeating Lisa Porter of Van Nuys, CA 2-1 in the lightweight challengers bracket. Moore will take on Samantha Kinchen of Lexington, KY in her next contest.
At Middleweight, Franchon Crews lost her first bout of the tournament suffering a 2-1 defeat to Raquel Miller of San Diego, CA. Crews will take on Naomi Graham of Colorado Springs, CO in the challengers bracket.
The Olympic trials are over now for Iesha Kenney, who suffered her second loss of the tournament by a 3-0 decision to Cierra Taylor of Rochester, NY. Kenney was the youngest competitor at the trials at just 17 years old.
USA Boxing has not provided official results on Tuesday's action at the Men's Qualifier, however, we have learned that Keeshawn Williams, Jalonte Cole, Tavon Body and Nigel Fennell are among the locals who advanced to the next round of competition.
