Baltimore, MD welterweight Malik "Iceman" Hawkins has won an eight-round unanimous decision over Andre Byrd of Jacksonville, FL Friday at The Met in Philadelphia, PA.
Hawkins seemed to be in complete control of the bout, forcing Byrd to take a knee in round seven. Hawkins won two judge's scorecards by shutout, 80-71 and one card by a 78-74 score. Hawkins remained undefeated at 15-0, nine KO's. Byrd is now 7-7-2, one KO.
Silver Spring, MD super featherweight Suliaman Segawa upset previously undefeated Gadwin "Abayarde" Rosa of Ocala, FL by eight-round unanimous decision. Segawa was reportedly strong in the early stages of the bout and won the contest by scores of 80-72 and 79-73 twice. Segawa is now 12-2, four KO's while Rosa falls to 10-1, eight KO's.
