IBF Super Featherweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis of Baltimore, MD will make the second defense of his title against former three-time world champion Ramon "Rocky" Martinez of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, on Saturday, August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The bout will be a featured bout on the Floyd Mayweather, Jr.-Conor McGregor card and will be shown on the pay-per-view telecast.
Davis (18-0, 17 KO's) made a successful first defense of his world title with a dominant third-round TKO over Liam Walsh on May 20th in London, England. Martinez (29-3-3, 17 KO's) has held the WBO version of the super featherweight title three times. In March of 2009, Martinez won his first title, scoring a fourth-round TKO over Nicky Cook in Manchester, England. Martinez made two defenses before losing to Ricky Burns by 12th round unanimous decision in September of 2010 in Glasgow, Scotland.
In September of 2012, Martinez would regain the WBO title with a 12-round split decision over Miguel Beltran, Jr. in Las Vegas. After two defenses, Martinez would drop the title to Mikey Garcia by eighth-round TKO in Corpus Christi, TX in November of 2013. Martinez would win the title a third time with a 12-round unanimous decision over Orlando Salido in April of 2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After battling Salido to a draw in the rematch in Las Vegas in September of 2015, Martinez would lose the title to Vasyl Lomachenko in his last outing on June 11th in New York City.
