Nicklow Faces Former Champ Taylor December 30!

The 2011 Beltway Boxing campaign will end with a big bout on Friday, December 30. BATB has learned that Baltimore middleweight Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow will be facing the returning former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor on Friday, December 30 in a scheduled 10-round bout that will be shown on Showtime's "Shobox" program.

Nicklow (22-2-3, eight KO's) has been unbeaten in his last four bouts (3-0-1) since his last time on Shobox on December 19, 2009 when he was stopped by Fernando Guerrero in the fourth round in Hinckley, MN.

Taylor (28-4-1, 17) saw his career go into a tailspin after two consecutive 12th round knockout losses to then unbeatens Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham. Taylor briefly retired but then passed a battery of tests to be eligible to participate in this card.

No official word yet on where this bout will take place. Originally, it was scheduled for Taylor's hometown of Little Rock, AK, but now Biloxi, MS is also a possibility.

Nicklow is a tough kid with a pressure style that can spell trouble for a downhill spiraling Taylor

Nicklow is not going to beat Taylor. He will never breach his jab, and he doesn't punch hard enough to get him out of there.

Whether Taylor can beat Jesse or not is not the question. JT needs to retire for his own sake. If the man wants to be able to talk to his kids when he gets older, he needs to stop taken punches or he is going to end up punch drunk like so many good fighters have.
JT has been a great warrior, made some money, seems like a good guy but damn, I wish he would retire.

I am glad that Jessie is stepping up to the plate. This is what real fighters do. Win lose or draw I am proud of you Jessie. Prove to the local scene that you are true to your craft. It aint about how many fights you have fought, its about who you have fought. You have people in this area that are true cowards. Stay Sucka Duckin.
