Joppy-Cummings Added As Co-Feature to November 6 Patriot Center Card!

Former three-time WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy makes his return to the Beltway area in a 10-round co-feature bout against Baltimore's Cory "Black Ice" Cummings on Saturday, November 6 at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA.

Joppy (39-6-1, 30 KO's) has lost his last two bouts in Montreal Canada to Sebastian Demers and Lucian Bute (in a bout for the IBF Super Middleweight title). Joppy has not fought along the Beltway since stopping Virgil McClendon in the first round on April 27, 2007 at the DC Armory. McClendon suffered an injury in that bout and couldn't continue.

Cummings, the Maryland State Super Middleweight champion (17-4, 13 KO's), has not fought since winning that title by ninth-round TKO in a tremendous bout against Demetrius Davis on May 29, 2009 at Du Burns Arena in Baltimore.

I'm so happy William is fighting in the area again. This is a big add to what is already a good card.

Joppy is still a beast. I know as I train with him at LA Boxing. He's in great shape, still quick as a cat. And that power -- he hit me with a short right the other week that knocked me to my knees.

Quinn probably can't fight.Gettem Black Ice.

who are the hell are you?
Have you ever had a fight of anykind? opinions only matter when they are coming from someone
with some experience.

This is a sad card.
This could be the only descent fight on the card
Certainly Joppy has the credintials and cummings can put up some opposition so it might be interesting. The rest of the card looks like shit. Jimmys fight is still a setup.

Give me a break. Some of the most insightful boxing commentators have never entered the ring with gloves on, Gary Digital Williams for starters.

That is like saying that only four people have any right to an opionion on President Obama because only those four living men have experienced that office.

Sure, boxing experience might very well lend an additional level of insight to an informed opinion. But merely having had a career of being pummeled in the head does not, in itself, increase one's analytical and observational skill, making for a more informed opinion.

If you think having a big vocabulary makes you somebody smart in boxing you better get a life.If this guy says he was dropped by Joppy and he has no experience of any kind then how to hell does he know somebody hits hard? Were talking Former world champion vs somebody off of the street. It is what it is .Your the one who doesn't know shit but a bunch of words.
Have you ever been punched in the face yourself? If not come on down to Arlington and let me give you a present.

I have been punched in the face. But I didn't like it.

Yes, I can't wait to see it either. It was supposed to be the main event on Cassandra's show on October 30th at the Masonic Temple in DC.

Joppy gonna kill him

JOPPY is going to get it handed to him. If I was him I would just forfeit now!

Zain Shah does not come to fight unless you say throwing ten punches a round is coming to fight. His last fight at the Patriot center he should have lost.If the opponet had wanted to finish him he could have.He just played around and let it go the distance.Shah can look good if you stand there and do nothing but fire back on him and you will se a completely diffrent person. This is not a personal attrack it's just the way it is.
He's one of them guys who can look good if you let him.

Signed
Omar Sims

I think Omar Simms and Zain Shah fight could be one the best on this card,Zain is looking to knock Simms out and Simms is coming off off of two big Knockout wins his last two fights I can't wait to see this one somebody is going to make some big noise...

Lange gets to fight somebody they paid to come out of retirement and pick up a pay day while everybody else on the card has to
fight tough.Same ole Same ole.
John Lange and his possy are a bunch of con artists. One of these days when they play the Johnny Cash music and start the smoke machines your gonna see Joe Hensley come out of one end of the arena and then Pappa Lange will be shot out of a cannon into the ring. Then they will put on their six inch pumps and fight like two lesbiens over a drag queen.

Omar Simms Will K.O.Zain Shah if he will stand still long enough.

I see Omar Sims improving by each fight. He had become very very good puncher. I see him Knocking Zain out in 2.

Anonymous said...

Thats funny, I felt the only reason the last guy lasted was because he refused to fight. I just don't see Sims refusing to engage like the last opponent..thats why i don't see him lasting the full 6.
