G.A. Russell, Reed, Adams Advance In National PAL!

Before I give the results from yesterday's action at the National PAL in San Antonio, TX, let me say that results were very slow from the event. Apparently, the tournament organizers had to reseed the tournament because some mistakes were made. When they released the results, they did not put hometowns next to them. Although I know the majority of the local participants in this event, I may unknowingly leave some names out.

Gary Antonio Russell won his second bout in the 123 pound division, defeating Duran Pedro, 16-12. Also at 123 pounds, Antonio Magruder decisioned Andy Reyes, 13-8.

At 132 pounds, Kevin Rivers was stopped in the third round by Saul Rodriguez.

At 141 pounds, Zeddie Adams decisioned Adam Costillo, 11-7. Also at 141, Michael Reed won his bout by walkover against Martin Lagunas, Jr.

In the 178 pound bracket, Demond Nicholson lost a close 4-3 decision to Ken Johnson. At 201+ pounds, Danny Kelly lost 3-2 after a level two tie-breaker.

Zeddie Adams is from Cleveland but he's boxing Mike Reed. Both have won Junior Nationals in the past. Will be a good match.

We are pulling for you Mike!!!

Kevin Rivers went down in the third from a vicious left hook, but was actually winning on the point system until the bomb exploded. Kevin will understandably turn professionally in 2011. He will be just fine}

Why would Kevin turn pro? There are 4 more qualifiers for box offs. He was DQd for holding but was hurt from what I hear. I don't think he's going pro before the qualifiers are over.

Congratulation's to wednesday's winner's. Tony M, Mike R, Allen R, Antione D, Dmitrius B, Jerry O, and Tyriesha D, good luck to all the J.O.'s boxing on thursday. I have one complaint why would they have Mike Reed, and Allen Russell having to face each other so early. It should be a GREAT FIGHT, good luck to both boxer's, and I hope who ever win's can continue on and win the whole thing.

The draw is done by a computer they don't care where u are from or who you are. Happens all the time where teammates box each other when put in the same weight class. You could have said the same thing about Adams and Reed. That's how brackets work. There is no seeding.

Your right I just think they should change that, they should boxer's from the same area in different bracket's. It's funny that it always seems you end up meeting before the final's. I think both of them could make it to the championship

By the way Adam's is from Cleveland, Reed should have fought him. I wish that the PVA didn't face each other until the championship

several times thus far, boxers from the same gym are boxing eachother. That tells us that the draw is fair. To do otherwise would be an advantage for our guys. Yes I do believe that our 141 pounder boxers are the best out there (Along with Perdo sosa) If Reed wins, Russell still has an opurtunity in the Golden Gloves. Reed has recently turned open and seems to be doing quite well. Russel has been there done that and comes from a boxing family. We will all know at aprox. 10:45 our time this evening. May the best man win, and hopefully no one gets hurt. God Bless You both.
