Harrison Opponent Changes In Florida; Dozier Battles Veteran Foreman In New York!

BATB has received word that the opponent for undefeated DC welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison's bout on Saturday, December 5 at the Osceola Heritage Center in Kissimmee, FL has changed.

Harrison (28-0, 15 KO's) reportedly is now taking on Samuel "Bruno" Amoako of Accra, Ghana (21-5, 15 KO's) in the 10-round contest.  Amoako makes his US debut in this bout after competing most of his career in his homeland.  Amoako's last contest was on November 7 when he was stopped in the third round by Miguel Roman in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Harrison's original opponent, Steve Claggett, was scratched from the card due to visa issues.  Harrison's original bout was scheduled to be shown on HBO Latino.  No word yet on whether this bout will be shown.

Also on December 5, Suitland, MD welterweight Lenwood "Mr. Composure" Dozier will be in action against former WBA Super Welterweight champion Yuri Foreman of Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  Dozier (9-9-1, four KO's) will look to break a four-bout losing streak including a seventh-round stoppage loss to Javier Molina on October 13 in Shelton, WA in his last contest.

Foreman (32-2, nine KO's) returns to the ring for the first time in more than two years.  Foreman has not fought since scoring a first-round knockout of Jovany Javier Gomez in November of 2013 in Hollywood, FL.  This bout will be on the undercard of the all-Brooklyn WBA Middleweight title bout between champion Daniel Jacobs and former WBO Middleweight champ Peter Quillin.

Pro Boxing Returns To Rosecroft Raceway December 4!

Pro boxing returns to Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD on Friday, December 4 with a King's Promotions card that will not have one boxer on the card with a losing record.

In the main event, undefeated Forestville, MD super lightweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox will make his King's Promotions debut in a six-round contest against Adam "Bad Boy" Mate of Sopron, Hungary.  Fox (7-0, two KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Juan Carlos Castillo on July 18 in Washington, DC.  Fox signed with King's Promotions in October.  Mate (18-6, 11 KO's) has won three of his last four bouts and makes his second appearance in the United States.  On July 25, Mate lost by fifth-round TKO to William Silva on a nationally-televised (UniMas) card in Hollywood, CA.

Capitol Heights, MD super flyweight Thomas "KO" Snow will be on the card facing Tibor Nadori of Nagykanizsa, Hungary in a six-round encounter.  Snow, who is also a recent King's Promotions signee (17-2, 11 KO's), last fought on March 6 and scored a first-round TKO over Christopher Sanchez in Charleston, SC. Nadori (6-2-1, three KO's) makes his US debut and looks to build of a first-round knockout of his own over Roland Rafael on November 17 in Budapest, Hungary.

Also on the card, rookie Rockville, MD super welterweight Shynggyskhan Tazhibay will be in a four-round bout against James Robinson of York, PA. Tazhibay, a native of Karaganda, Kazakhstan (2-0, two KO's), scored a second-round TKO over Coleman Phelps on the last King's Promotions card on August 28 in DC.  Robinson (3-3-2, one KO) will be looking to break a two-bout losing streak.  Robinson makes his second appearance in the Beltway region.  Last time, Robinson stopped Joshua Robinson in the second round in November of 2014 in Cockeysville, MD.

Lusby, MD super lightweight Chris "The Rock" Warden will take on the debuting Bernardo "Benny" Rodriguez, Jr. of Miami, FL in a four-round contest.  Warden (1-0, one KO) made his pro debut on March 14 and scored a second-round TKO over Marshawn Hughes in Washington, DC.

The card will also mark the pro debut of Greenbelt, MD cruiserweight "The Vanilla Gorilla" Sam Crossed who will battle the equally-debuting Hampton Miller of Norwalk, CT. Crossed had a relatively short amateur career but made headlines in 2013 when he scored a four-second knockout. Miller fought a number of amateur contests in Alaska in his career.

In other bouts on the card, "Mr. Hollywood" Charles Natal of Cleveland, OH returns to the region for a six-round encounter with Grayson Blake of State College, PA.  The undefeated Natal (6-0-2, two KO's) is coming off a first-round stoppage of Allen Torres on October 17 in Louisville, KY.  This will be Natal's fourth appearance in the Beltway and his third at Rosecroft Raceway.  Blake (6-4, two KO's) last fought on April 18 and lost an eight-round unanimous decision to David Grayton in Valley Forge, PA.  Blake makes his second trip to Rosecroft. Blake lost a six-round unanimous decision to Larry Recio in July of 2014.

Two super welterweight boxers making their United States debuts will square off in a six-round bout.  Undefeated Junior Castillo of the Dominican Republic will take on once-beaten Roland Nagy of Budapest, Hungary.  Castillo (7-0, seven KO's) has not fought since August of 2014 when he scored a first-round TKO over Jesus Pascual in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.  Nagy (6-1, four KO's) is coming off an eight-round decision win over Janos Hatos in Budapest on November 5.

In a four-round super welteweight encounter, Santario "Too Handsome" Martin of Philadelphia, PA will battle Nicholas Hernandez of Reading, PA. Martin, a native of Gainsville, FL (1-1), bounced back from suffering a loss in his pro debut by winning a four-round unanimous decision over Fitzgerald Johnson on September 19 in Chester, PA.  Hernandez (2-1) last fought on September 22 in Bethlehem, PA and won a four-round unanimous decision over Ricky Nuno.

Amateur Boxing In Glen Burnie; Petersons Serve Food For Needy On Wednesday!

The day before Thanksgiving features members of the Beltway Boxing Community in a giving mood.

On Wednesday, November 25, there will be an amateur boxing card at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD. The main event features Brian Haneschlager of the Baltimore Boxing Club taking on Drew Ryan of West Virginia. Also slated to be on the card are Joe and Sean -- The Veazey Brothers as well as a co-feature between two Baltimore competitors as Donald Wallace battles Tyrell Boyd for the Maryland State Middleweight championship.

Fans are also asked to bring canned food items and contribute to the canned food drive named in memory of Baltimore heavyweight fan favorite "The American Dream" Mike Dietrich.

Martin Heads To California For Six-Round Bout December 3!

DC welterweight Kareem "Reemo" Martin will travel to Costa Mesa, CA for a six-round contest against fellow undefeated boxer Tevin Watts of Lancaster, CA on Thursday, December 3 at the Hangar.

Martin (6-0-1, three KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Anthony Prescott on August 28 at the Washington Convention Center.  The bout was Martin's first in front of his home fans.

Watts (4-0-3) fought to a six-round draw against Tavorus Teague on August 27 at the Hangar.  This was the second draw against Teague at the Hangar.

Bob Foster, Legendary Light Heavyweight World Champion Who Fought Out Of DC, Passes At 77!

He was one of the greatest light heavyweight champions of all time and although he was born in Texas and lived most of his time in Albuquerque, NM, he claimed Washington, DC as his boxing home.

Bob Foster, who was a two-time world champion in the sixties and seventies, passed away today at the age of 77.

Foster was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC and in 1957, joined the US Air Force Boxing Team and also was a coach.  As an amateur, Foster had more than 100 amateur bouts and only lost three.  Foster was a three-time All-Service Champion and won a silver medalist at the Pan American Games in 1959.

Foster made his pro debut at the old Capital Arena in DC on March 27, 1961 scoring a second-round KO of Duke Williams.  This would be the first of eight appearances Foster would make in his adopted hometown, fighting primarily at the Washington Coliseum.

Foster would win his first nine bouts before losing to Doug Jones, a heavyweight boxer Foster coached in the amateurs, by eighth-round TKO on October 20, 1962 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  Seven of Foster's eight losses would be to heavyweights throughout his career.

On May 24, 1968, Foster would receive a shot of the light heavyweight title and make the most of it, knocking out Dick Tiger in the fourth round at Madison Square Garden.  This would be the only time Tiger would be knocked out in his career. Foster would make four defenses of his title.

On November 18, 1970 at Cobo Arena in Detroit, MI, Foster would challenge Joe Frazier for the heavyweight championship.  Foster would be knocked out in the second round.  One month later, the WBA would strip Foster of their version of the light heavyweight crown because he would not defend against the ranked number one contender.  Foster would remain WBC champion.

Foster would regain the WBA championship on April 7, 1972 with a second-round TKO over Vicente Rondon in Miami, FL.  Foster would remain undisputed light heavyweight champion for two more years, a tenure that included wins over Mike Quarry and a 14th-round TKO over Chris Finnegan on September 26, 1972 in London, England that Ring Magazine called the Fight Of The Year.

After the Finnegan bout, Foster challenged Muhammad Ali for the NABF Heavyweight title on November 21, 1972 in Stateline, NV.  Foster would lose by eighth-round knockout.  Foster would defend the light heavyweight title three more times before announcing his retirement in September of 1974.

Foster would return to boxing in June of 1975 and would go 6-2 in his final eight bouts before officially calling it a career in 1978. His final record was 56-8-1, 46 KO's. After his retirement, Foster worked for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.

Foster would be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.  In 1994, Ring Magazine named Foster the third greatest light heavyweight of all time behind Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore.

Yes, Foster was a Beltway Boxing legend who will live on in boxing memory forever.

Thomas Battles To Six-Round Draw; Mosley Is Knocked Out In One in Philadelphia!

Salisbury, MD super middleweight Tahir Thomas battled to a six-round split decision draw against fellow undefeated boxer Antowyan Aikens of Atlantic City, NJ Friday night at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.  According to reporter JR Jowett, both men were knocked down in the bout -- Thomas in the first and Aikens in the sixth.  One judge scored the bout 57-55 for Thomas and one judge had it 57-55 for Aikens.  The third judge saw the draw, 56-56.

Thomas's record is now 4-0-1, three KO's while Aikens is 10-0-1, one KO.

On the same card, Capitol Heights, MD heavyweight Devon Mosley was knocked out in the first round by Hafiz Montgomery of Toms River, NJ.  The time of the knockout was 2:34.  Mosley remains winless at 0-4-1 while Montgomery is 2-0, one KO.

Harrison Battles Claggett On HBO Latino Telecast December 5 In Kissimmee, FL!

Undefeated Washington, DC welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison returns to action in a 10-round contest against Steve "The Dragon" Claggett of Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Saturday, December 5 at the Osceola Heritage Center in Kissimmee, FL.

The bout will be part of a tripleheader that will be shown on the HBO Latino network.  Harrison's bout will be the co-feature bout on the telecast that will begin at 9:45 ET/PT.

Harrison (28-0, 15 KO's) competes for the fifth time this year and is coming off a first-round knockout of James Wayka on September 26 in Norfolk, VA. Claggett (23-3-1, 16 KO's) has won three straight including a third-round TKO over Stuart McLellan on September 18 in Calgary.

Thomas, Mosley Hit Scales in Philadelphia!

Two locals weighed in for bouts that will take place on Friday, November 20 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

Tahir Thomas and Antowyan Aikens both tipped the scales at 167 pounds for their six-round contest.

Also, Devon Mosley weighed in at 207 pounds for his four-round bout against Hafiz Montgomery, who weighed 206 pounds.

Amateur Boxing Show In Oxon Hill November 21!

DC Boxing Hall of Famer Juice Gatling along with Keystone Boxing will host an amateur boxing card on Saturday, November 21 at the Oxon Hill Staff Development Center located at 7711 Livingston Road in Oxon Hill, MD.

Salisbury Super Middleweight Thomas Battles Fellow Undefeated Aikens November 20 in Philadelphia!

Undefeated Salisbury, MD cruiserweight Tahir Thomas returns to action when he takes on fellow undefeated boxer Antowyan Aikens of Atlantic City, NJ in a six-round bout on Friday, November 20 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

Thomas (4-0, three KO's) is coming off a second-round TKO over Marcellus Yates on July 24 in Baltimore, MD.  Aikens (10-0, one KO) won a six-round unanimous decision over Edgar Perez on May 22 in Atlantic City.

Another Beltway Boxer is scheduled to be on this card.  Cruiserweight Devon Mosley (0-3-1) of Capitol Heights, MD looks for his first win when he takes on Hafiz Montgomery of Toms River, NJ (1-0) in a four-round bout.  Mosley last fought on September 6 and lost a four-round unanimous decision to Nicholas Busick in Weirton, WVA.  Montgomery, who debuted as a heavyweight, won a four-round unanimous decision over Brian Donahue on June 20 in Valley Forge, PA.

Here are the results from the Jeter Promotions/RBA Promotions card Saturday at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA:

Bowie, MD heavyweight Luther "Lights Out" Smith scored an easy first-round knockout of debuting Malcolm Ware of Raleigh, NC.  Ware was wild and reckless with his punches until he felt Smith's power.  Smith knocked Ware down twice before the bout was stopped at 1:29.  Smith is 3-0, three KO's all in the first round.

Welterweight Edgar "The Tiger" Torres stopped Aloric Carson of Indianapolis, IN at 2:37 of the second round. Torres dropped Carson twice during the contest with right hands before the bout was stopped.  Torres is now 7-0-1, four KO's while Carson is 0-9.

In an all-Pennsylvania battle, Rolando "Iron Man" Chinea of Lancaster won a six-round split decision over Christian "Quiet Riot" Steele of Philadelphia.  Two of the judges seemed to favor the activity of Chinea as he threw a large volume of punches.  Steele landed some solid shots throughout the contest but didn't do enough to get the win.  Judges Wayne Smith and Brian Costello saw the bout for Chinea 58-56 and 59-56 respectively while judge Eric Irizarry saw the contest for Steele, 58-56.  Chinea bounces back from suffering his first pro loss in his last bout and his record is now 11-1-1, six KO's.  Steele's record is now 4-18-2.

Silver Spring, MD junior lightweight Alexandru "Spartan" Marin took a six-round unanimous decision over Stephon McIntyre of Jonesboro, GA.  Marin was in control throughout the contest against the game McIntyre who withstood some solid punches.  Marin won by a 60-54 score across the board to remain undefeated at 7-0, four KO's.  McIntyre is now 2-15-2.

Super lightweight Drayvontay Speed-Rawls of Glenarden, MD stopped Shonta Barnes of Wilson, NC at 1:45 of the first round.  Speed-Rawls had no problem with the somewhat hyper Barnes as he hit Barnes with a right hand that dropped him.  When Barnes got up, he decided not to continue. Speed-Rawls is now 4-0, two KO's while Barnes is 0-2.

Two-time Irish Olympian John Joe Nevin of Mullingar, Ireland won a four-round unanimous decision over DeWayne Wisdom of Indianapolis, IN.  Nevin, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, stayed poised as Wisdom tried to clown his way through the bulk of the bout.  Referee Michelle Myers took two points away from Wisdom for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct.  Wisdom managed to survive the full four rounds but Nevin was in complete control.  Nevin won by scores of 40-33 and 40-34 (twice) to raise his record to 6-0, four KO's.  Wisdom is now 6-25-1, three KO's.

Heavyweight "Brutal" Brendan Barrett of Egg Harbor, NJ scored a second-round knockout over Schuyler Marshall of Columbia, SC. Barrett battered Marshall for two rounds until a left-right combination sent Marshall face first to the canvas.  Marshall beat Mark D'Atillio's count but was not fit to continue and the bout was stopped at 1:34.  Barrett is now 2-0-1, two KO's while Marshall falls to 1-7, one KO.

Lightweight Cobia "Soldier" Breedy, now fighting out of Clinton, MD, scored a first-round knockout over Brian Raglin of Indianapolis, IN.  Breedy, a native of Barbados, managed to trap Raglin near the ropes and drop him with a right hand.  Raglin could not beat the count and the bout was stopped at 1:44.  Breedy is now 4-0, three KO's and Raglin is 0-11.

Baltimore, MD super middleweight Jerome Featherstone won his pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over the equally debuting Bobby "Showtime" Geithers of Hickory, NC.  Featherstone gained the advantage in the contest relatively easily and forced Geithers into survival mode.  Featherstone won by shutout (40-36) on all three cards.

Welterweight Brian "La Bala" Mendoza of Albuquerque, NM socred a first-round knockout over Eddie Cordova of Clearfield, UT.  Mendoza dropped Cordova twice with crushing right hands before the bout was halted at 1:02.  Mendoza raises his record to 10-0, seven KO's while Cordova is now 4-11-1, one KO.

Tyler Howard of Tennessee won a second-round TKO over Jess "Thunder" Noriega of Lynchburg, VA in a super middleweight contest.  Howard knocked down Noriega twice in the first round and once in the second before the bout ended at two minutes.  Howard is now 10-0, seven KO's while Noriega is 3-15, three KO's.

"The Young General" Ian Green of Patterson, NJ won a middleweight contest by scoring a first -round TKO over Travis Davidson of Richmond, VA.   Green dropped Davidson with a right hand and ended the bout at 2:04.  Green is now 8-0, six KO's while Davidson is 2-8, two KO's.

Hurd Scores Impressive Sixth-Round TKO Over Galarza; Nicklow Falls In Three In Las Vegas!

Undefeated Accokeek, MD super welterweight "Swift" Jarrett Hurd had a coming out party Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV as he scored an impressive sixth-round TKO over previously undefeated "Notorious" Frank Galarza.  The bout was the main event of the ShoBox card on Showtime.

After an even two rounds, Hurd began to take over the contest eventually dropping Galarza in the fourth and later landing brutal shots to get the bout stopped at 59 seconds of the sixth round. With this big win, Hurd is now 17-0, 11 KO's while Galarza falls for the first time in his career and he is 17-1-2, 11 KO's.

Also on this card, Baltimore, MD middleweight Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow was stopped in the third round by highly-touted prospect Sergiy Derevyanchenko of Brooklyn, NY.  Derevyanchenko took complete control of the bout from the opening bell, eventually stopping Nicklow at 2:18 of the third.

Nicklow falls to 25-8-3, eight KO's while Derevyanchenko remains undefeated at 7-0, five KO's.

Fox, Guerrero Capture Victories In Mississippi!

Forestville, MD's Alantez "SlyAza" Fox scored a fourth-round TKO over Todd Manuel of Rayne, LA Friday at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS.

According to Cliff Rold of BoxingScene.com, Fox was sharp from the opening bell as he landed shots to the body and right hands to the head.  Fox dropped Manuel in the third round and Manuel complained of blurred vision after the fourth.  Manuel could not come out for the fifth round and the bout was stopped.

Fox, scoring his second win this month. remains undefeated at 18-0-1, seven KO's.  Manuel, who took this bout on less than a week notice, is now 10-10-1, one KO.

On the televised (Spike TV) portion of this card, Fernando "The Warrior" Guerrero, a Salisbury, MD resident who fights out of Los Angeles, CA, battered Daniel Souza Santos of Sao Paulo, Brazil for seven rounds before stopping him at 1:45 of the seventh.

Guerrero started slowly but eventually wore down Santos as he landed punches in bunches before the bout was eventually stopped.  Guerrero raises his record to 28-3, 20 KO's while Santos falls to 14-9, 11 KO's.

Hurd, Nicklow Hit Scales In Las Vegas!

Jarrett Hurd and Jessie Nicklow weighed in for their televised (Showtime) bouts Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Both Hurd and Frank Galarza weighed 154 1/2 pounds for their 10-round main event bout.

Nicklow weighed 165 1/2 for his eight-round bout against Sergiy Derevyanchenko that will open the ShoBox telecast.  Derevyanchenko tipped the scales at 164 1/4.  The telecast begins at 10:45 PM ET.

Williams Scores Second-Round TKO In Biloxi, MS!

Thomas "Top Dog" Williams, Jr. of Laurel, MD has scored a second-round TKO over Humberto Savigne of Miami, FL in the co-feature bout at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS.  The bout was televised by Spike TV.

For the second time in his pro career, Williams had to survive a knockdown in the first round to win the bout.  Williams knocked down Savigne with a crisp right hand in the first minute.  However, Savigne sent Williams down in the second minute of the round with a solid right hand of his own.

In the second round, Williams found Savigne again with a left hand followed by a right uppercut that dropped him.  Savigne was on rubbery legs when he got back up and Williams landed enough solid blows to force referee Keith Hughes to stop the bout at 1:48.

Williams is now 19-1, 13 KO's.  Savigne's record drops to 12-3, nine KO's.

Williams, Fox, Guerrero Hit Scales In Biloxi!

Three Beltway Boxers weighed in for bouts tonight at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS.

Thomas Williams and his opponent, Humberto Savigne, both weighed in at 175 for their 10-round co-feature bout that will open the Spike TV telecast at 9 PM ET.

Alantez Fox and his foe, Todd Manuel, both tipped the scales at 160 for their eight-round contest.

Also, Fernando Guerrero weighed 157 pounds for his eight-round encounter with Daniel Souza Santos, who weighed 156.

Salinas Regains UBF Title With Unanimous Decision!

Jennifer Salinas has won a 10-round unanimous decision over Melissa St. Vil in our main event tonight at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD.

This was a Beltway Boxing Bout Of The Year candidate as the two ladies slugged it out for the 10-round duration.  St. Vil caught the early advantage by using her solid right hand.  However, Salinas started to take control midway through the contest as her straight left hand landed with consistency.  Both ladies suffered welts under the eyes as they clashed heads repeatedly.

Judges Dave Braslow and Paul Wallace saw the bout 96-94 while Brent Bovell saw Salinas winning by a 99-91 score. 

Salinas is 18-3, four KO's while St. Vil is 6-2-3.

Kenon Scores First-Round Knockout Over Alexander!

Leonardo Kenon let loose with a brutal right hand that dropped Chris Alexander  and stopped the contest at 1:30 of the first round.

Kenon rode a bus 26 hours from Tallahassee, FL on Wednesday to get to the bout here in Maryland.  Kenon gets his first pro win and is now 1-2, one KO.  Alexander drops his second straight bout and is now 4-2, four KO's.

Douglas Defends UBF Title With Unanimous Decision!

Tyrieshia Douglas has successfully defended her UBF Bantamweight title with a 10-round unanimous decision over a very game Nydia Feliciano.

Douglas repeated found a home for her straight left hand, a major part of her offense.  Feliciano tried to stay with Douglas and had some offensive spurts but they were few and far between.

Douglas won by scores of 100-90 and 98-92 (twice).  Douglas is now 10-1, four KO's.  Feliciano is 8-7-4.
