All-Virginia Showdown Added To October 17 Peterson-Diaz Undercard; Grayton, Nicholson Bouts Signed In Fairfax, VA!

Two of the Commonwealth of Virginia's most popular boxers will meet head-to-head on the undercard of the Lamont Peterson-Felix Diaz card on Saturday, October 17 at the George Mason University Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA.

Jimmy Lange of Great Falls will take on "Money" Mike Sawyer of Culpepper in an eight-round bout fought at light heavyweight.

For Lange (38-6-2, 25 KO's), this will be his 17th appearance at the Eagle Bank Arena (formerly known as the Patriot Center) but the first time where he is not the headliner.  Lange will also be competing at 175 pounds for the very first time and will be trying to break a two-bout losing streak.  Lange lost two bouts to Tony Jeter in October of 2012 and November of 2014.

Sawyer (6-4, four KO's) also has ties to George Mason as he graduated from the university shortly before his pro debut in 2006.  Sawyer was a fan favorite in bouts at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA in 2006 and 2007 before taking some time off from boxing to enter the business world.   Sawyer, who has relocated to Winter Park, FL where he owns a gym, returned to the ring in 2011 and has fought sporadically over the last four years.  Sawyer has won two of his last three contests but is coming off a second-round TKO loss to Junior Younan on June 6 in Brooklyn, NY.

There are other bouts that have been signed for this card.  Undefeated DC welterweight David "Day-Day" Grayton will battle Christopher Degollado of Monterrey, Mexico in an eight-round contest.  Grayton (12-0, nine KO's) last fought on August 28 and scored a six-round TKO over Jose Valderrama at the Washington Convention Center.  Degollado (13-5, 11 KO's) broke a four-bout losing streak with a four-round TKO over Gilberto Valdez on August 15 in Jalisco, Mexico.

Also, Laurel, MD middleweight Demond "D Best At It" Nicholson will battle in an eight-round contest against Milton "El Misil" Nunez of Barranquilla, Colombia.  Nicholson (14-1, 14 KO's) is on a four-bout winning streak that includes a second-round stoppage of Antonio Baker on the August 28 card in DC.  Nunez (28-14-1, 25 KO's) has lost three straight including an eight-round unanimous decision to Francy Ntetu on May 8 in Rye Brook, NY.  Nunez has faced quality competition throughout his career including Gennady Golovkin, Matt Korobov, Daniel Jacobs and Sergio Mora.

Other local boxers slated to participate on this card are Anthony Peterson, Kareem Martin and Alantez Fox.

The co-feature contest on the card has changed.  Andre Dirrell had to withdraw from his bout against Blake Caparello due to medical reasons, so the entire bout has been scratched.  The new bout matches two undefeated boxers as Prichard "Digget" Colon of Orocovis, Puerto Rico will take on Terrell Williams of Los Angeles, CA in an eight-round contest.

Colon (16-0, 13 KO's) has knocked out his last three opponents including a fourth-round knockout of former world champion Vivian Harris on September 11 in Toronto, Canada. In August of 2014, Colon won a six-round unanimous decision over Beltway Boxer Lenwood Dozier in Brooklyn, NY.

Williams (14-0, 12 KO's) makes his first trip to the East Coast and will try to build on a solid eight-round unanimous decision victory over John Williams on August 27 in Costa Mesa, CA.  This was the first time Terrell Williams had gone the distance in a bout since his pro debut in November of 2008.

In another bout added to the card, undefeated Brooklyn, NY super middleweight Lennox "2 Sharpe" Allen will face off with Istvan "Zeke" Zeller of Kistarcsa, Hungary in a 10-round contest.

Allen (19-0-1) is a native of Guyana who scored a seventh-round knockout over Paul Gonsalves on April 17 in Uncasville, CT. Zeller (24-8, seven KO's) makes his US debut on this card and will try to keep his four-bout winning streak alive.

Winter Haven, FL lightweight Tommy Logan (3-1, three KO's) will also be on this card in a scheduled four-round contest.  Logan will try to bounce back from suffering his first pro loss as he dropped a four-round split decision to Alejandro Ochoa on November 20 in Studio City, CA.
