Perez Upsets Harvell In Springfield!

Due to the small amount of Beltway Boxers on the card tonight at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA, we are not providing complete live blogging tonight.

However, one result on this card deserves a more immediate post because we had a major upset tonight.  Edgar Perez of Chicago, IL by way of Puerto Rico, won a six-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Lavarn "Baby Bowe" Harvell of Atlantic City, NJ.

Perez dropped Harvell twice with crushing right hands.  The first knockdown came late in the first round and the second came with about a minute left in the third.  Harvell was pretty dominant in the second half of the bout but the deficit was too big to overcome on the scorecards.  Perez won by scores of 57-55 (twice) and 56-55.

Harvell loses for the first time in his career and is now 13-1, seven KO's.  Perez is now 6-10, three KO's and has broken a 10-bout losing streak.

goes to show you all these so called opponnets if you are not 100% completely ready, are capable of busting your ass.
this has happened a lot lately.

On a different note, Chris Algeri showed us what real champions are made of tonight. Inteligent, great shape, confident, and a heart like a lion.

I remembered when Jargal gave Algieri a good fight. Jargal always took the best fight. Never ducked competion. Unlike some of these other beltway boxers claiming to be good but ain't fought no one.
