Guerrero, Johnson Appear on Showtime From Canada May 24!

Two Beltway Boxers will appear on the Showtime Networks on Saturday, May 24 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Salisbury, MD middleweight Fernando Guerrero will be in the co-feature as he takes on hometown hero David Lemieux in a 12-round contest for the vacant NABF Middleweight championship.

Guerrero (26-2, 19 KO's) bounced back from his WBO Middleweight title challenge loss to Peter Quillin in April of 2013 by winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Raymond Gatica on November 11 in San Antonio, TX.  Guerrero, however, was knocked down in the first round of that contest.

Lemieux (31-2, 29 KO's) has won six in a row since suffering back-to-back losses to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine in 2011.  Five of Lemieux's six wins have come by knockout.

This will be one of the contests that will be on the main Showtime broadcast that will begin at 9 PM ET.  The main event of the card is the WBC Light Heavyweight championship contest between champion Adonis Stevenson and challenger Andrezi Fonfara.  The tripleheader also includes undefeated Houston, TX junior middleweight Jermell "Iron Man" Charlo who fought his last bout on January 25 at the DC Armory in Washington on the Lamont Peterson -- Dierry Jean card.

Oxon Hill, MD light heavyweight Alexander "The Great" Johnson will be on the Showtime Extreme telecast as he takes on  undefeated Eleider "Storm" Alvarez of Montreal by way of Colombia in a 10-round contest.  Johnson (15-1, six KO's) has won three straight since losing in his last appearance on Showtime in December of 2011.  Alvarez (14-0, eight KO's) has held the NABO and NABA Light Heavyweight titles and is a fixture at the Bell Centre.  This will be the 12th time Alvarez has competed at the arena.

The Showtime Extreme Network telecasts usually begin around 7 PM ET.
