World Traveler Thompson Heads To France For June Tussle With Takam!

The frequent flier miles continue to add up for DC heavyweight Tony "The Tiger" Thompson.  Thompson will compete for the sixth time on foreign soil when he battles Carlos Takam of Cameroon in a 12-round contest on Saturday, June 6 at the Palais des Sport Marcel Cerdan in Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine, France.

The 42-year-old Thompson (39-4, 26 KO's) is ranked sixth in the world by the WBC and the IBF and is coming off a 12-round split decision win over Odlanier Solis on March 22 in Tekirdag, Turkey. Since 2011, Thompson has traveled to Turkey, Germany, the United Kingdom (twice) and Switzerland.

Takam (29-1-1, 23 KO's) represented Cameroon in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and he is currently ranked 13th by the WBC.  Takam will try to bounce back from a 12-round draw with Mike Perez on January 18 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Good for Tony! He's made some great money in these fights and he deserves it! He paid his dues. He couldn't beat Wladimir but so what? Who can? He beat everyone else except for Pulev. And that tells me Pulev can fight b/c Tony can fight!
