Quarles Headlines March 15 Card in Springfield, VA!

There will be a pro card coming to the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA on Saturday, March 15 at 7 PM.

Headlining the card will be Virginia State Middleweight champion Brandon Quarles who will take on "The Carolina Kid" Jeremy Yelton of Forest City, NC in an eight-round encounter.  Quarles (11-2-1, four KO's) is coming off his first-round TKO of Zain Shah for the Virginia State title on the last card at the ABC Sports Complex on November 9.

Yelton (17-15, eight KO's) will try to bounce back from a second-round knockout loss to Thomas LaManna on August 17 in Charlotte, NC.  Yelton is a veteran who has some notable names on his resume including Paulie Malinaggi, Harry Joe Yorgey and Henry Crawford.

The undefeated Thomas "Cornflake" LaManna of Millville, NJ (13-0, seven KO's) will be in the co-feature bout on this card that is being promoted by his father.  No word yet on his opponent.  LaManna won a six-round unanimous decision over Joshua Robertson in his last outing on September 28 in Atlantic City, NJ.

The card marks the hometown return of Fairfax, VA's "Money" Mike Sawyer who will take on Montrail Speight of Wilson, NC in a four-round undercard bout.  Sawyer (5-3, three KO's) has not fought in a Virginia ring since scoring a first-round TKO over Jimmy Lundy in June of 2007 at the ABC Sports Complex.  Sawyer, who now lives in Winter Park, FL, recently made a return to boxing after a two-year absence and has fought in the Cayman Islands and in the Bahamas.

Speight (0-1) lost his pro debut by first-round TKO to Carlos Lopez on August 24 in Wilson.

Also slated to be on this card are undefeated Bowie, MD super middleweight "The King's Son" Jerry Odom (8-0, eight KO's) and undefeated junior welterweight Edgar "The Tiger" Torres of Springfield, VA (4-0-1, three KO's). No word on their opponents.

Dusty Harrison-James Stevenson needs to happen. James just won the other day, and is fighting in April, Dusty is fighting on Friday and also in April. Most likely they will both win there fights making them each 22-0. Both are ranked in top 15 by USBA and the USBA welterweight belt is vacant. It would be a huge fight for it to happen in Dusty's return to dc in June. The two best local welterweights who are both 22-0 facing off for regional belt and chance to be ranked in top 15 of IBF.

that is well spoken for i have been calling for this fight for a year it is going too happen sooner or later you can believe it and it is a 50/50 fight for both

I'd have to agree with this one, if it is for a regional title.

At this stage in their careers, again with something on the line, it would be a great bout and a pretty huge bout for the area.

Cannot wait until this coming Friday's night's pro boxing event at Rosecroft. Yes indeed! Digital, can you please provide us with an update article about the Rosecroft show? Thanks!!

Gary, can you please update Friday night's Rosecroft pro boxing card for us? I heard it was going to be a great show!

I heard that the pro boxing event this coming Friday night at Rosecroft will be one of the best pro cards Keystone has ever presented.

Who's fighting?

Gary Digital Williams said...

The only update I have is that Larry Recio (3-0, two KO's) will take on Mike Santiago of Chicago, who is making his pro debut. The bulk of the card has already been posted.

I thought Ayei Lema was fighting Santiago? Does that mean he is off the card now? What about Terron Grant?

Why would there be a pro show in D.C. and @ rosecroft on the same night?? Nobody is going to watch Anthony Peterson that night lmao what a shame

Gary Digital Williams said...

No word on Grant's opponent. The Anthony Peterson card has been postponed until April 11 at the Convention Center.

What's up with Lema now? He was originally supposed to fight Santiago but now Santiago fighting Recio so is Lema off the card or does he have different opponent?

Good way to build your way back up Quarles

Hold on......So someone said james Stevenson vs dusty Harrison?
Stevenson just fought someone 10-32! How he gonna fight someone 22-0? If you combine all the wins of all of Stevenson's opponents all together they all don't equal 22 wins.

Gary Digital Williams said...

Not sure what Lema's status is for this card.

Gary, would Harrison-Stevenson be biggest All-Beltway matchup since Pettway-Brown?

Gary Digital Williams said...

No I don't think so. We've had bouts like Sharmba Mitchell-Reggie Green and Keith Holmes-Andrew Council II that were world title bouts like Pettway-Brown. Harrison-Stevenson is closer to Jeter-Lange.

Dusty vs Stevenson is a better matchup then Jeter vs. Lange, but I doubt that it would let it happen unless there was something on the line or TV.

Seth Billups is making his Debut on this card as well Gary isn't he?

This card looks better than the Rosecroft card but I will be at both.

Gary Digital Williams said...

I've been told that about Seth however the promoters have been very lax about giving me information.

Virginia is starting to put on great cards again

Hey Gary when will you find out more details about the this card lineup?

Gary Digital Williams said...

The card in Virginia? As soon as the promoters get in touch with me about it.

Who is promoting the va show?

Gary Digital Williams said...

Thomas LaManna Sr. of New Jersey.

Why Action ain't fighting and Jerry fighting?

Douglas has a bout coming up on April 4 in Parsippany, NJ. Odom is slated to be on a card in St. Joseph, MO on March 15 but he doesn't have an opponent listed at this point.

I doubt James ends up fighting Dusty. Only 4 of his opponents had winning records, and none were even nearly as good as dusty. He will probably make up some excuse or purposefully ask for too much money so they fight doesn't get made. Two opponents that I think would be interesting for dusty in June are Jose Cotto (33-4-1, 24 ko's) and Gabriel Bracero (23-1, 4 ko's). Cotto has got the name recognition being Miguel's brother and fought for world two world titles, but is only 5'6", 36 years old, past his prime and hasn't fought since 2012 so dusty could win win with his younger, fresher legs and 6 inch height advantage. Bracero has a lot of skill which would be first for dusty fighting someone with similar skill as pro, but wouldn't be a danger to Dusty's questionable chin with only 4 ko's. And both are Puerto Rican and ik dusty takes great pride in his heritage and loves to fight fellow Puerto Ricans like he did Eddie Soto in his last fight in dc.
