Mack Lewis Foundation Holds Open House; Harrison Hands Out School Supplies!

Mention the name Mr. Mack Lewis around the Beltway region and watch the smiles come to people's faces.  "Mr. Mack," as we all called him, was a boxing treasure in Baltimore as his gym produced exceptional boxers and, even more important, many excellent men throughout his more than six decades in the sport.  Mr. Mack's passing in November of 2010 at the age of 92 left a void that will be difficult, if not impossible to fill.

Many people in Baltimore are making sure that Mr. Mack's legacy lives on.  The Mr. Mack Lewis Foundation is having its first open house on Saturday, August 10 at the gym located at 913 North Bond Street in Baltimore.  The open house is free and will run from 11 AM to 5 PM.  There will be boxing demonstrations, free food and free school supplies handed out.  The foundation is looking to start tutoring programs and other educational programs at the gym in the near future.

A number of Mr. Mack's disciples are training boxers in the gym led by former IBF Junior Middleweight champion Vincent "The Ambassador" Pettway.

Closer to DC, undefeated welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison will be handing out school supplies during the second annual Branch Avenue Day on August 10 from noon to 3 at Sam's Car Wash.  Harrison will be joined by local rapper Lightshow.
