Landover, MD super featherweight Nuwan "The Lion of Sri Lanka" Jayakody lost a four-round unanimous decision to undefeated Bryant "Pee Wee" Cruz of Port Chester, NY Wednesday night at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City.
Jayakody was the first opponent to make Cruz go the distance in a bout. According to Matt Richardson of Fightnews.com, Cruz hurt Jayakody with body punches in the third round but Jayakody came back in the fourth and caught Cruz with a right of his own.
Jayakody lost 40-36 on all three cards to drop his record to 1-2, one KO. Cruz is now 6-0, five KO's.

Jakakody fought a good tough fight. He was never in trouble and displayed outstanding defensive skills. He also caught Cruz with good solid shots, but just wasn't busy enough.
