Peterson-Matthysse Set For May 18 in Atlantic City!

Numerous sources are saying that the matchup between IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson and WBC Interim champion Lucas Matthysse is a done deal for Saturday, May 18 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com's Dan Rafael during his weekly chat that the fight will take place with another championship bout between IBF Welterweight champ Devon Alexander and challenger Kell Brook.  Schaefer has told many sources that he wants the Peterson-Matthysse contest will be part of a "tournament" where the winner of that contest will face the winner of the April 27 bout between Danny Garcia and Zab Judah with the ultimate prize being former champ Amir Khan.

The ultimate prize being Amir Khan. That's a big joke. L King Pete has already whipped Kahns ass. So how is that an ultimate prize?

Hey G when is the USA championships and I heard they fighting with no headgear this yr is that true? And if so do we have any beltway fighters fighting in it.....and this will be a tough fight for Peterson but I think he will win and out box matthysse and not brawl...he's the champ so he can box now....

Mr. Lamont Peterson is on top again and will whip Matthysse with no problem. This is a great fight for the DC guys all the way around the board. According to Richard Plepler, Michael Buffer will do the main-event with our very own Henry Jones doing the undercard. Hopefully, some of our hometown fighters are also there.

That is Schaefer's description, not mine. That is the way he envisions this "tournament."

The USA National Championships are April 1-6 in Spokane, WA. USA Boxing does not mention anything about boxing without headgear on its website. No word yet about Beltway participation but it will be interesting since that will be the week before the Washington Golden Gloves finals.

I am happy for Mr. Henry Jones, this is a Showtime event and he deserves it.

Khan has a bigger draw to boxing that's why he is the prize and yes he lost to Garcia but he got robbed against Lamont, but neither champ has a bigger fan base than khan,Lucas will not be overwhelm by Lamont it will be a slug fest Lamont has to bang because he is a lowsy boxer with a cheap jab just look at the holt fight he look like shit when he was trying to box holt, but he looked better when he was banging,Lucas by ko

It's all about being a draw. Khan still puts butts in seats and brings in ratings.

I was thinking about the Holt fight earlier today, does anyone remember what Lamont's entrance song was?
