Beltway Boxing 'SuperFan' Helman in 'Sparring Session' with Dusty Harrison!

Last week, the Washington Post ran an article about a gentleman who has been a fan of University of Maryland Athletics for 30 years and is well respected by the athletes.  This got me to thinking..

If the Beltway Boxing community has a "SuperFan," he would be 23-year-old Benjamin Helman.  I first met Ben at a Jimmy Lange boxing card at the Patriot Center and he is as gracious and enthusiastic as any fan I have ever met.  Ben is truly well respected by the Beltway Boxing Community and what's more, he doesn't let his disability -- he has Cerebral Palsy -- stop him from accomplishing anything he wants.  This is including a sparring session he participated in against Dusty Harrison this week.  Here is the video of that event courtesy of Juan Marshall.

Ben will be ringside this Saturday for the Jimmy Lange-Tony Jeter card at the Patriot Center and he will also be at the November 3 card at the Washington Convention Center.  Stop by and say hi to him!

Great video of a great guy! I've had the privilege of talking boxing with Ben many times, and he is indeed an uber-fan! He's been with the Lange camp for a long time.
