August 25th DC Card Coming Together!

The Saturday, August 25 Keystone Boxing card at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC is coming together with a lot of young talent on the card.

Undefeated DC welterweight Dusty Harrison headlines the show in a six-round contest against Marqus "Goose" Jackson of Atlanta, GA.  Harrison (7-0, four KO's) is coming off a first-round TKO of Reggie Nash on the last Keystone Boxing card on July 14 at the Convention Center.  Jackson (2-5, 1 NC, two KO's)  is winless in his last five bouts and has not fought since February 2011.

In a four-round junior middleweight encounter, Harold "Sweet Lee" Parker of DC will battle Richie "The Rock" Andrews of Stuarts Draft, VA.  Parker (2-0, two KO's) is coming off a second-round TKO over Antonio Sadler on the July 14 Keystone card.  Andrews (3-2-3, one KO) has lost back-to-back four-round majority decisions in his last two outings.

This card will mark a special day for the Parker family because Harold Parker's younger brother, Joshua "Marvelous Mo" Parker, will make his pro debut in a four-round lightweight contest against Jason Meeks  of Rock Hill, SC (0-1).

Also on the card, Charlotte Hall, MD middleweight Josh Rupard (2-0, two KO's) will take on the aforementioned Antonio Sadler of Columbia, SC (1-1-1).  Rupard's knockout wins have both come in the first round.

In a four-round super featherweight rematch, District Heights, MD super featherweight Renaldo "Misunderstood" Gaines battles David Warren Huffman of Milwaukee, WI.  Gaines (2-0) made his pro debut against Huffman (0-7) on March 10 at the Convention Center, winning a four-round unanimous decision.

Suffolk, VA middleweight Farrad "The Rose" Price returns to action when he faces DC's Issa Coulibaly in a four-round battle.  Price (1-0) has not fought since making his pro debut in May of 2011, defeating Damont Giddins by four-round unanimous decision in Millersville, MD.  Coulibaly (0-1) lost his pro debut by fourth-round TKO to Lee Snow on June 16 in Baltimore, MD.

DC light heavyweight Greg Newby, who was slated to make his pro debut on the August 4 card in DC, has been added to this card and will face the equally debuting Gavin Hume of Cincinnati, OH.

The co-feature on the card will match Brooklyn, NY light heavyweight Phil Benson (7-1, six KO's) against Anthony Pietrantonio of Youngstown, OH (7-9, six KO's) in a six-round contest.  Benson scored a fourth-round TKO over Mark Anderson on April 28 in Wilson, NC while Pietrantonio has lost his last two by knockout.

Mr Gary,

What were the attendance numbers for Baby Girl's card? Do her cards compete with the keystone cops one they put on?

Keystone Cops sell out everyone of there cards in the District of Columbia. They seem to pay the fighters much more and they get exactly was is promised to them. They do much more than boxing, they have magicians, local rappers, and real strippers for ring girls. Also, tickets prices always seem to be fair, in fact, much cheaper than any other shows in DC, MD, or VA. Keystone seems to give the new guys a fighting chance. You can always count on one or two making his pro debut. Hope they remain around for years to come.

babie girl had 63 paying customers according to DCBC. she was wacked but she had a right to be.

Gary Digital Williams said...

I can't confirm the paying customers, but it was about half full. It was capacity of about 300 I would estimate. The room, that is.

Damn, you guys are jealous as can be about this Brian stuff. From what I gather, he is a top notch match-maker and gets the job done each and every time. Seems like all promoters are extremely happy with him and welcome him with open arms. Furthermore, I've yet to hear a boxer say he was set up by Brian. They all thank him and ask him to continue on helping. After speaking with him well over two years ago, I realize that the man knows just about every boxer in the USA. Quotes records, dates, weight like no other. Like they say, if they're not talking about you, you ain't doing nothing. Keep up the good work Brian, you are one of the best.

Yeah, he pulled that crap on me too, saying that sales were slow and we all gots to share in the loss even though I sold my own tix and made my number. Never fight for him again.

Brian said...

If I did please telle who it was against. I have no access to paying at the end of the night so it is virtually impossible for me to short you

Brian said...

Brian is being exposed

Brian said...

Hardly being exposed! I stand by what I say and do. I ask these folks who say this to come out with some specifics of who and when I stiffed them.

Paper-Mate 1.2 M said...

Brian, that's just some clown trying to pluck your nerves. It's obvious he has no clue of what he's saying. I normally would think it's a jealous person, but in this case I think it's a queer who is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Anonymous said...

I think it's interesting Brian hasn't flat out denied it.

Brian said...

It pretty much have denied it by telling folk to come forward

No money is ever exchanged between Brian and the fighter. CTFU

Anonymous said...

the promoter gives the purse money to the athletic commission the day before the event, and the commission pays the fighters their purse. if anyone who claims to be a boxer is claiming they were shorted to a matchmaker, they are either an idiot or just trying to stir up controversy.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, stupid but promoter can give short stack to commission and boxer ends up getting shorted.

Brian said...

Now the commission is involved to?

Anonymous said...

Brian, has any of the boxers on any of your cards every gotten paid less than promised?

Brian said...

Well to my knowledge NO NO NO, the out of town guys have all been paid what they were suppose to get. As to the hometown I will say they all have gotten paid what they were supposed to be paid. But I am not privvy to that and nobody has ever complained to me otherwise.

If someone got shorted I would be the first to hear from the fighter. So emphatically NO

Meanwhile, in news ACTUALLY pertaining to this card, Greg Newby is one of the subjects of a brand-new documentary made by the George Washington University Documentary Center called "Into The Lime Lite."

The movie had its premiere last week in DC. As soon as I find out where it will be shown, I will let you know.

The commission counts the money stupid.

Anonymous said...

Commission doesn't police making sure contract amount was paid to fighter, dummy. Fighter can be shorted on Dillon's cards and some have. It's not right you guys keep saying it's not so. Everyone should know this is another risk fighters take.

Anonymous said...

Ive been on Commission in past. Guy above me is right.

Anonymous said...

That only happens on Babe girl shows and I don't know y D.C. Commission let's her get away with that.

Brian said...

ok. Friday before the fight, the commission goes over the contracts. For each fighter they put aside the money to be paid in a sealed envelope eith the amount written on the envelope.

After each fight the commissioner assigned to the locker rooms gives the fighter the envelope to open and then they each count out the amount written on the envelope.

So its darn near impossible to be " short stacked"

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but you've found a way to do it a couple of times.

Brian said...

Your just trying to make something stick. Teflon here my man teflon there is nothing to stick.

Gary Digital Williams said...

You anonymous folks really need to back up these comments with some facts and have the guts to put your name behind them. Email me your "proof." Brian puts his name behind everything he does

Can you say the same?

Mr G,

Boxing question. Who has bigger boobs, Richie Mccombs or Christy Martin?
