Beltway Boxers Head Into Busy November!

November will be an EXTREMELY busy month for Boxing in the Beltway region. If you are a fan of amateur boxing, November will be a great month for you. There will be four all-amateur cards in the area and two pro-am cards. Also there are four pro cards scheduled next month (including two charity events) and two Beltway stars will be in high-profile bouts out of town.

Without complete details on each event, here is the schedule as of right now:

Thursday, November 3 -- Martin's Valley Mansion, Cockeysville, MD. This is the annual "Evening Ringside" to benefit the Jonathan Ogden Foundation. United Boxers is promoting the boxing portion of the event.

Friday, November 4 -- Coliseo Antonio R. Barcelo, Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. Charlottsville, VA middleweight George "Wartime" Rivera (13-6, four KO's) will be taking on former WBA Super Middleweight champion Manny Siaca (23-7, 20 KO's) in a 10-round bout.

Saturday, November 5 -- Smith Gymnasium, Fort Myer/Henderson Hall joint military base, Arlington, VA. This is a pro-am bout promoted by RBA Promotions, headed by a new promoter to the area, Richard Ashby. Local pros slated to appear on this card include WBC Female Middleweight champion Tori Nelson
, the returning welterweight Juan "The Savior" Rodriguez and heavyweight Antonio Robertson. The main event features former WBC/IBF Cruiserweight champion O'Neil "Supernova" Bell of Atlanta, GA (26-4-1, 24 KO's) taking on Rico Cason of Hermitage, TN (17-20, five KO's).

Saturday, November 5 -- Main Street Gym, Salisbury, MD. The first of November's nights of amateur boxing.

Thursday, November 10 -- Washington Hilton and Towers, Washington, DC. The annual "Fight Night" Fight for Children card. Undefeated Baltimore welterweight Emmanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor (14-0, 10 KO's) is slated to appear on the card possibly against Cleveland, OH's Prenice Brewer (15-1-1, six KO's) Also locals Jerren Cochran and Jayce Thompson will be on the card.

Friday, November 11 -- Du Burns Arena, Baltimore, MD. This will be a special charity amateur card to raise funds to battle breast cancer. The card is called, yes, "Boxing for Boobs." A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

Saturday, November 12 -- Upton Boxing Gym, Baltimore, MD. Another strong night of amateur boxing.

Saturday, November 12 -- Howard University's Crampton Auditorium, Washington, DC. Babie Girl Promotions with a pro card in the newly refurbished auditorium.

Saturday, November 19 -- Maryland Sportsplex, Millersville, MD. (Mike) Paschall promoting an amateur card.

Saturday, November 19 -- Show Place Arena, Upper Marlboro, MD. Keystone Boxing is promoting a pro-am card.

Saturday, November 19 -- Bally's, Atlantic City, NJ. Cambridge, MD welterweight Dontre King (5-9-2, two KO's) takes his two-fight winning streak into Atlantic City to face Julio DeJesus of Millville, NJ (5-2-1, three KO's) in a four-round contest.

Saturday, November 26 -- Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Gary Russell, Jr. (18-0, 10 KO's) scheduled to open an HBO telecast against an opponent TBA.

And of course THAT all leads to December and the biggest boxing card in DC in who knows how long.

Riveras fight is for WBA Fedacaribe Title does anyone know if that gets a ranking
